safety. Occupational health and safety advisors are those who use their skills and knowledge to
ensure a safety in the work place (Chan & Mak, 2012). The safety advisors are responsible for
ensuring that the employees comply with the norms of the health legislature and the safety
policies related to health.
2. Responsibilities of a health and safety advisor include:
 Applying risk assessment techniques and to find out the ways how the risk can be
reduced (Friend & Kohn, 2014).
 Outlining safety operational procedures for mitigating the safety operational procedures
in the organization (Li, 2014).

Occupational health and safety advisor is quite a lucrative job in this modern world. Each and
every company is associated with some occupational hazards and risks, which have to be
addressed from the grass root level and hence needs someone to take care of this. Here comes the
role of the occupational health and safety advisor, who would help to develop, implement and
evaluate the risk management programs and policies and would train the employees to avoid
health hazards at the work place (Samnami et al., 2014). The salary structure of this designation
is also impressive, depending upon the experience of the candidate.
During my course of study, I have come to learn about the basics of health and safety which I
think would support me to accomplish my administrative role in the company. The job profile is
reputated and aligns well with my higher education. I have a keen interest in health and safety
and therefore want to start my career as a health and safety advisor. This job would also increase
