1PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have recently graduated from a high school in China and want to enroll myself for
Bachelor’s program in Economics. I heard from a friend of mine that the University of Prague is
reputed university and it offers excellent industry oriented course structure. However, to verify
the information I visited the website of the University of Prague and thoroughly read the course
overview and I am convinced that studying in this university would help me greatly to achieve
my future goals.
I interest on economic grew since I was a kid. I used to visit nearby markets and banks
with my father. The phenomenon of buying anything with exchanging money fascinates me. I
used to ask father why people used give anything in exchange of money since it was just a
printed piece of paper. My father tried to explain the reasons but as he was not into profession
related to economics, he was not able to explain in details. Similarly, I wondered when people
keep their money in bank. I used to tell myself that is it not safe to keep our money with us.
Later, I came to know that if we deposit money in bank, after sometime they pay us back with
some extra sum of money which is called interest. Again, another question pops up from where
they are getting the money for paying interest. An uncle of mine once told me that “you will get
your answers if you read economics”. Then onwards I decided to learn economics and dreamt of
working in bank.
Out of curiosity, I started to learn about Czech and astound after knowing the economic
structure of the country. It intrigued me when I learned how with use of different types of
economic models the country achieved in the socio-economic perspective. My desire for learning
in the University of Chicago increased manifolds. I now believe that if I study economics in
depth then it is possible for me find solution for any kind of socio-economic problem and thereby
help to make a better society with full of economic prosperity.

I know that learning economics is not that easy because it requires knowledge on various
fields such as statistics, mathematics, law, human psychology, business, political science and
many more. However, I believe that I will be able to complete entire course successfully. The
reasons behind that are my personal traits. I have always exhibited strong analytical skills during
my high schools studies. I am into sports and thus I have good ability of working in a team. I
have good communication skills as I can speak with any person of any age group. Therefore, I do
not have any problem in studying in a different country.
Furthermore, in the course overview I saw there is a course on banking financial
institution and accounting which are very important for me as I want to work in bank in future.
All the subjects together will help to develop and smart investment mind which will help during
job. Therefore, I feel my decision of studying economics in University of Prague is completely
reasonable.
