INTRODUCTION
Knowledge is defined as the information which an individual gain through experiences of
our and others. Any kind of information or study which is experienced by a an individual is
considered as knowledge (Crawford, 2016). Creativity is basically the act of turning ideas,
imaginations and thoughts into real aspect. Creativity is acknowledged by the ability of a person
to perceive a task in different manner. If a person do not possess sufficient amount of creativity
and knowledge then attaining academic goals is not possible. This assignment is going to
mention about the reason and rationale for adopting specific content for portfolio. These reasons
will helps in identifying the benefits which learner will be gain after using the selected material.
Other than this, information about selected context is discussed so that their use in future
learning can be acknowledged.

Summary to describe reason, rationale and choice of the materials for populating the portfolio
In order to work on this portfolio, different kind of content is used. The selected topic
posses various merits which will allow me to became a good learner and adopting various
aspects so that my learning growth will not be compromised in any manner. To work on this
portfolio I have selected the content related to communication skills and effective
communication skill. By working on this, I will learn new aspects due to which my interaction
with other persons will be improved and I will be able to learn new aspects in a simplified
manner. Also, academic writing and academic reading will be given preference in this portfolio
(Del Monte and Pennacchio, 2019). These aspects helps me in understanding the manner by
which my academic content can be improvised and I can learn new aspects in more reliable
manner.
Team work will help me in becoming more tolerant towards diversity and different
opinions due to which I will be able to learn from the experiences of other people appropriately.
Time management skill is beneficial for me to complete my work in a timely manner so that I
will not miss important deadlines. Also, I have selected research skills as they will help me in
gathering only accurate and reliable information. This will allow me to accomplish my work
with highest quality. Other than this, I have chosen SWOT analysis so that I can acknowledge
strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of a topic or own-self in a proper manner. This

will allow me to modify those aspects which are not resulting in benefits and profits. Material
associated with confidence is also discussed. This is because high confidence allow a person to
perform complex work in a systematic manner. But, if my confidence will be low then I will not
be able to acquire my complex targets. This will hinder my performance as a university student.
To avoid this situation, I have also chose emotional intelligence so that I can understand
the right manner to deal with my emotions and also consider emotions of other people in a
desired manner (Forbes, 2018). Material related to feedback and referencing is also used. The
referencing material is very important and it allows a person to give proper credits to that person
which have created that content (Jahnke, Haertel and Wildt, 2017). By this, I will be able to
perform my work in a legal manner. In case of Feedbacks, they helps a person to acknowledge
the opinion of other about their work. With the help of feedback, I will be able to carry out
needed modifications in my work so that high productivity and efficiency can be attained.

In order to work on a portfolio topic, I have selected some materials. These materials are
essential part of individual learning and they will allow me to learn different aspects in a
productive manner. These materials and information associated with are mentioned below:
 Communication skills: These are referred as the abilities which helps a person in
receiving and giving information. These skill involves new ideas, verbal skills,
empathising etc. so that interaction with other people can be more appropriate (Wang,
2016). This skill has helped me in interacting with different people in a proper manner.
Due to which I am able to perform work more desirably. In future, this skill will help me
in becoming an active listener, adapting communication styles of others so that I can
became more friendly and perform my work appropriately.
 Effective communication skills: Effective skills of communication will allow me to
communicate with different kind of people in a proper way. This skill will improve my
listening and speaking habits due to which people will like to have more interaction with
me. This will helps me in learning new aspects so that my goal as a university students
can be attained systematically and properly. If my skills will not be effective, I will not be
able to interact with other people. It can be a big barrier in my academic and personal
growth.

 Academic writing: It is a formal style and tone which is simplified in a nature and do not
need complicated vocabulary and long sentences. It posses some writing conventions and
disclosures so that an individual can became familiar with their work (Hassan and Din,
2019). There exist some characteristics of academic writing which is have used in past
like planning and structuring of material, formal tone style etc. All of these aspects will
help me in becoming a good academic writer so that I can perform my work with utmost
efficiency.
 Academic reading: It is very different from the everyday reading of information and
study topics. It needs more probing, recursive and active strategy in context with the
recreational reading. This is an very essential skill which helps a student like me to
accomplish written assignments in a productive manner. Reading of academic content is
integral to the procedure of topic understanding and development of ideas. This skill will
help me in asking appropriate questions, reflecting upon texts, interpreting meaning in a
proper manner. By this, I will be able to refine the purpose of selecting a topic or learning
activity in a proper manner.
 SWOT analysis: It is abbreviated as strength, weakens, opportunities and threats. This is
a framework which allows a person to acknowledge their own strength, opportunities,
threats and weaknesses so that those aspects can be eliminated which can hinder the
success of a person (Hussain and et. al., 2017). This analysis has helped me in
acknowledging those aspects in which I am good. Also, it benefits me in understanding
those things which are not favourable for me. By this, I will be able to take right
decisions for myself. This skill had helped me in understanding and eliminating my
weaknesses due to which my overall potential to perform work have enhanced
considerably.
 Time management: It is specified as the procedure to exercise and plan control of time
about specific activities so that enhanced efficiency, effectiveness and productivity can be
gained. If management of time is good then it will allow a person to accomplish more
goals and targets in shorter time span (Di Nauta and et. al., 2018). Time management
allows to accomplish a task within allotted deadline due to which attainment of high
efficiency became easy. This skill will help me in lowering my stress so that I can attain

high success in career. By this skill, I will became more productive due to which my
overall objectives and targets will be accomplished efficiently.
 Team work: This is a procedure which enable various individuals to be bound in a team
and work together in order to achieve the desired outcomes. This skill has helped me in
my past experiences as by this I was able to work with my team mates. This skill has
developed a sense of patience and understanding in me by which I was able to understand
views of my team mates as well. I had used this skill to work with my peers and this
experience can help me in future as I will be the top choice of a leader to include me in
their team as I know how to work the dynamics of a team.
 Researching skills: Such type of skill include creating a hypothesis and then checking
the viability of that hypothesis by researching over sources such as newspaper, journals,
articles and many more. I have used this skill to research about my educational
assignments. Not only in past but in am sure that these skills will also help in future to
research about most appropriate career aspects for me (Bridgstock, 2017).
 Confidence: This is a trait more than of a skill which can be gained if an individual has
right potential attitude. I think I am a confident personality and this trait of mine has
helped me to gain trust of my peers and fellow students. This trait can help me in future
as by this I can pursue public speaking which will provide me a greater exposure.
 Emotional intelligence: This is a skill which enable an individual to control and handle
situations even when situations involve emotional crises. According to me, I am an
emotionally stable being who knows how to tackle and communicate with people who
are experiencing emotional crises. My emotional quotient is quite high which I have used
in past to consult my friends and I think this trait of mine will also help me in my course
during university as I will be able to handle stress and pressure.
 Referencing: This is a skill which enable an individual to give credit to the personality,
whose work is used. There are various types of referencing which help them in to
determine the credits of the people whose work is being used to support an original work.
I master in this skill and I can perform various styles of referencing. I am experienced in
this skill as I have referenced by educational assignments various times. This skill will
help me in future while writing my university thesis in which I can reference my work by
providing credit to original authors.

 Feedback: This is a skill of providing valid feedback to different individuals so that they
can effectively enhance their work by considering the feedback. I have used this skill to
provide the feedback to my fellow students on their educational presentations so that they
can use my pointers and can make their presentation much more effective. I have great
observation skill which assist me in providing suitable feedback. I am sure that this skill
can help me in future to support my fellow mates in university (Wang, Li and Liu,
2019).
CONCLUSION
This report concludes that in order to became a good learner, it is essential for a person to
adopt some skills which can increase their creativity and overall knowledge. By this, overall
productivity and capability of an individual to perform work will enhance. In this context, main
skills are time management, emotional intelligence, team work, researching skills etc. Other than
this, framework like SWOT analysis will be help me becoming a skilled persons by overcoming
potential threats and weaknesses. Other aspects discussed in this project benefits an individual to
became more efficient learner.
