There are different types of projects that are carried out. Construction projects are the ones in
which a building or a specific unit is constructed, for example, construction of a shopping
mall. Manufacturing projects are the ones in which a product is manufactured as the end-
result of the project, for example, manufacturing of a garment. Management projects are the
ones in which a set of services and processes are managed, for example, customer
relationship management projects.

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a tool which is used to provide hierarchical
representation of the project tasks and activities. The project activities are represented in the
form of packages and sub-packages in the WBS. For example, in a website development
project, the primary package is the project which is divided in the sub-packages in the
subsequent levels as planning, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and
deployment packages (Ren, Xue, and Wang, 2013). The specific activities under each of
these packages are then represented in the next level.
It is important to have such a structure because the project activities and the dependency
among these activities are clarified with the aid of the WBS. The project flows also become

The phases that must be used and implemented for risk management shall be identification of
the risks in the first phase followed by risk analysis, evaluation of the risks, risk treatment,
control, and closure of the risks.
The risks are assessed using the determination of the risk probability and impact levels
through qualitative and quantitative assessment.

The risk response under project management is classified in mainly four types. The first is
risk avoidance in which the risk is responded with the strategies so that it does not occur at
all. The second is risk sharing in which the risk is shared with the other party, such as an
internal or external stakeholder. The third is risk transfer in which the responsibility to
manage and treat the risk is provided to another party. Fourth is risk mitigation in which the
strategies are carried out to make sure that the probability of risk occurrence is minimized

There are several aspects of monitoring project quality.
The first is quality planning. It is the phase in which there are quality plans developed so that
the overall project quality can be managed. The roles and responsibilities to manage the
project quality along with the tools to be used are determined in this phase. The Quality
Manager is the primary resource responsible for handling the quality of the project
(Milunovic and Filipovic, 2013).
Quality assurance and control activities are used to monitor the quality using audits, reviews,
and execution of a number of testing processes. The continuous improvement of the project
quality is carried out using the results of the audit and review processes.

Communications Ltd. is the organization that has been assigned with the contract to supply,
manage, and test the IT infrastructure and material for the Plaza City Towers hotel. The
report includes the different managerial aspects for the execution of the project.
Introduction
Plaza City Towers is a new five star hotel that is to be constructed in London.
Communications Ltd. is the organization that has been assigned with the contract to supply,
manage, and test the IT infrastructure and material for the hotel. There are several IT services
and facilities that will be deployed at the hotel and the management of all of these will be
done by the organization as Communications Ltd. The organization has served the small-
scale clients in the past. However, this project will be the first large-scale project for the
organization and therefore, it is essential that the project management is effectively carried
out.
Project Management Methodology
The project management methodology that shall be followed in this case shall be Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK). It is the methodology that will provide
Communications Ltd with all the guidelines to handle the project processes. It will make sure
that the initiation of the project is correctly done so that the project aims and objectives can

be met as well. The methodology will have five broad phases as initiation, planning,
execution, control, and closure (Brioso, 2015).
The initiation processes will include the discussions and project proposal activities. There
will be various plans that will be made in the planning phase followed by the execution of the
processes in the third phase. The risk management, change handling, and quality management
activities will be carried out in the fourth phase. The last will include the documentation
processes and the reflection processes will also be conducted in this phase.
Skills & Competencies of Project Manager
Project Manager will be the main resource that will be responsible for managing the project
tasks and activities. It will be necessary that the Project Manager has the skills to manage the
project correctly.
The manager shall have the communication and negotiation skills so that the terms and
services are finalized which are realistic and there are no unrealistic demands and
expectations set. Also, the organization will require funds for the project and the project
manager skills to negotiate on the same will be useful for the project. The resource shall also
have analytical skills to determine the various areas under the project management and to
plan the project activities accordingly. There will be several risks associated with the project
and it will be required by the Project Manager to analyse all the project aspects to handle
these project knowledge areas. The resource shall also have leadership abilities and shall be
able to motivate and control the members in the project team to keep them involved at all
times (Abrantes and Figueiredo, 2014).
