INTRODUCTION
In this competitive world, if an individual have an degree with some particular course
then it is easier for the person to get a higher-salaried job. Having a degree gives the
organisation a confidence regarding the individual that he or she has the basic knowledge of
the particular field. At the University level, students have learnt various types of skills and
knowledge which will help them in upgrading their personality. (Barnhart, T. and van Es, E.,
2015). These kind of personalities are required by the organisation in this current
environment. In this report the analysis has been done on the skills required to be successful
at university and also about the importance that how it is important for the work place. The
research has also been done on the recommendations that help students to improve the
content of their CV’s.

The skills which are necessary for students at the University level to become
successful has been discussed in the following manner:
Time Management : It is very important for students to understand the importance of time.
If they want to achieve success at the university level as well as in the practical life it is
necessary to give equal time to each kind of activity. Whether it is about the academics part,
college fest and other activities, interviews, preparation for higher studies etc.
Stress Management: For managing the stress, it is important to do exercises on daily basis.
Take rest in an adequate way, good nutrition, prayer and meditation are all suggested for
engaging themselves in self-care for reducing stress level. Being a student is like a full-time
job and it also requires preparation for each class.
Study Skills: Its important to have knowledge about how to study and what steps are
necessary for studying. Its important to note that how to read a text book, taking notes in the
class, use the library and take multiple choice tests are the all areas which help in becoming
successful in the classroom.
Money Management: It is important for students to have an experience in handling the
money in an independent manner. It is necessary that they have the knowledge regarding
reading the check book, using an ATM, reading a bank statement and also learning to make
responsible decisions about living on a budget.

Assertiveness Skills: Under this type of skill, it is important to have the courage for speaking
for yourself. It should not be aggressive in nature or passively allow others to take advantage
of you. (Hallam, and et.al., 2015).This kind of skill is important in the case of roommate
communication, study groups and in conflict resolution.
Respecting the rules and policies: Under this head, it is necessary to follow the rules and
regulations set by the University. The rules and regulations have been set for a reason so that
a positive environment has been created in the community as well as among the students.
These rules and regulations gives a reason that every student should be treated in an equal
manner and equal opportunities need to be given to every student.
These skills are important at the workplace. Above all the skills plays a very important role in
achieving the objectives at the workplace. Time management skills gives the student
knowledge about which task need to be completed first and how much time need to be given
for the particular task. In this way, through time management work has been completed
within a period of time. At workplace, there is also lots of stress due to continuous multi-
tasking. And this can be reduced by taking small breaks and by taking good nutritious food.
In the case of research based profile, it is important that the individual have study skills.
Because on the basis of that an individual can do justice with this kind of profile. It is also
important for an individual to be aware about its cash so that they can maintain a budget
while working on which aspect they have to spend money or not. It is also necessary that an
individual has the guts for speaking for themselves so that they can take a stand within the
organisation. (Doner, R. F. and Schneider, B. R., 2016). It is also important that to follow the
rules and regulations so that appropriate tasks need to be completed within the given time
frame. Rules and regulations are the basis of any organisational context. Rules and
regulations not only maintain the discipline in the organisation but it also creates a positive
impression in the minds of employees as well as for the external people.
That’s why these skills are important for the individual. These skills not only makes the
personality of an individual more independent, individualistic, intelligent, proactive and more
confident also. These skills are the current requirement of any organisation and without
having professional attitude it becomes difficult for an individual to exist in the organisation.
These skills are the basis of making any strong professional identity. These skills are
important for employees as well as for the employers because it uplift the organisation image

Write for the student newspaper: If the individual is planning to pursue the career
in Journalism field. Then the student needs to join the University student newspaper.
Having an extra experience as a student journal gives an extra edge in the competitive
world. By writing for the student newspaper, it will help in improving the creative
side of a student and also contributes in improving the writing skill of an individual.
Join the student union: As a member of the student union, it depicts that an
individual takes matter into their hand rather than just sitting and waiting for the
things to turn around. (Terriquez, V., 2015). It gives an impression to the company
that the individual has the quality to take initiative in the things rather than waiting for
the opportunities. An individual believes in creating the opportunities. Its important to
highlight all the campaigns and activities in which you have taken part in it.
Take on a leading role in a society or club: A CV can be boosted by taking part in
the sports team and in a society as a leader in the team which will give an extra edge
in this competitive environment.
Because only becoming a member in the team of football won’t help in upgrading the
CV in a stronger manner. While handling the position of leadership at college level
gives the opportunity to in-built leadership qualities on a prior basis before entering
into the professional environment.
Participation in the volunteer work: Under this head, while volunteering in any
function or in any fest it gives an impression to the interviewers that the individual
also takes part in improving the lives of others also. This kind of participation is not

interest is in. It can be related to any field whether its about travelling, beauty etc. At
the time of interview the chances of getting higher scores as compared to others get
increased. Because the employer think that the individual carry the same attitude at
the workplace also. In terms of career there are many bloggers who turn their blog
platform in a successful manner. This is the great place where an individual can
showcase their interest and experience. If the individual work hard for it then it will
convert it into a successful career.
Learn new skill: In the free time it is important to learn new skill that looks good into
your CV. Examples of new skills can be sign up for a language course, become an
expert in using photo shop or learn how to design a website. These courses have been
offered by the university and if the individual takes advantage of these courses then it
act as a addition in the CV. (Crompton, H. and Burke, D., 2018). These courses are
comparatively cheaper as compared to anywhere else. Learning a different type of
new skill also increases the chances of getting shortlisted of your CV and also
increases the chances of getting a higher position in the organisation at the initial
