INTRODUCTION
Preparing for success at University is a study of planning and execution of the
tasks which are required by a learner to conduct in order to prepare for efficient success
(Ford and et.al., 2012). In this reflection report, two tasks are covered using Gibbs
reflection model. Reasons and techniques are given that how and why a learner is
developed from the module of preparing for success at University. Along with which
future challenges in University are also analysed (Piaget, 2013).
TASK 1
Description
In order to achieve success at university level I have adopted different strategies
and proper schedule regarding my activities and task that has helped me to enhance
my knowledge. Along with my official subject material I focused on basic but valuable
things such as my reading skills and grammatical part. Additionally, within grammar I
started from scratch like I read about noun, verb, adjective, adverb and then I proceed
to formation of appropriate simple, compound and complex sentences by making the
proper use of subject as well as verb. Furthermore, I learned the use of punctuation
marks and various abbreviations. These were the part of my grammar subject on which
I worked hard to enhance my knowledge.
Along with this I am putting significant effort to improve my reading skill. This skill
will not only improve my pronunciation but it will also help me by enhancing my
understanding as well as concentration level. For instance, if anyone aims to modify
their reading skill then they must have some reading goal like to enhancing the
concentration of an individual. By putting all my efforts in understanding this module, I
have developed as a learner. The above efforts are the main techniques behind making
me a learner.
Feeling
Initially, when I started managing my time to cover both university as well as
module part it leads to immense pressure and left me with more burdened. For at least
one to three weeks it was very tough for me to follow the hectic curriculum even during
that time I had a feeling of quit reading these subjects. In addition, though grammar is

an interesting subject but it includes various rules which at times we need to cram. I am
good in understanding things but not in cramming due to which I was an average
student in my history subject. But I somehow managed it by constantly revising the rules
along with that my intrinsic motivation and determination helped me to enhance my
knowledge. Like, I used to constantly remind myself how the use of grammar and
reading skill can enhance my knowledge and help me to achieve my goals. All my highs
and lows while understanding this module is the main reason behind that why I
developed as a learner.
Evaluation
My overall habit of reading about various modules has helped me immensely
which mean my ultimate output of reading was good. But to reach at this satisfying
stage I had crossed various hurdles in my path like I was overburdened while managing
my university subject as well as module part. Moreover, I had started with bad
experience of getting up early in the morning and consuming whole day to improve my
knowledge. Thus, I allocate time to gain effective reading skill and grammatical
knowledge. Furthermore, with the passage of time I understood the relevance of
reading habit which lead to critical thinking. Now it helps me not to understand things
wisely but also by helped me in identifying the opinion of other person. Along with that
by working on abbreviation, punctuation and overall grammar part helped me to
enhance my oral and written communication (McPeck, 2016). Therefore, I started with
overloaded or bad experience which ended in good or fruitful experience. It can be said
that my efforts are the tools which helped in my development as a learner and my
feelings are the reason due to which I developed as a learner.
TASK 2
Analysis
This module is not the ending of my learning. There are various other module
and aspects are also present which I have to consider in my University course.
According to my experience in understanding the module of “Preparing for success at
University”, I have observed some challenges which can be faced by me in near future
in University course. The major challenge which I am going to experience is my poor
communication skills (Cho, 2015). Besides this I will even have to face challenges of

adaptability and cooperation. With enhancing level of my course, expectations of my
University course will also be increased for me. These high expectations can include
effective presentation and an in-depth knowledge of my course.
Conclusion
From my experience of understanding the module and analysing my future
challenges. I have concluded that my overall experience while attempting and
understanding the module was good besides which I faced various issues. Along with
this, through my analysis of future challenges it has been concluded and observed that
with enhancing level of my course at university, my challenges and University
expectations from me will also increase. To sum up my experience, it can be said that it
was a good overall experience but it could be better by pre analysing future challenges.
Action plan
Action plan is the plan for future which includes activities must be done in order
to overcome future challenges (Gokhale, 2012). From the above content, various future
challenges are identified such as communication, cooperation and adaptability which
are gained from my experience in understanding a module. Actions which can be done
in future to overcome these challenges are; I can indulge myself in various activities
such as group discussions and operations which are not in my comfort zone that will
help me in adapting new things. Challenge of communication can be evaded by
polishing my language and grammar.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that time management and
allocation of time for various modules such as grammar, use of punctuation mark,
abbreviation and reading material has enhanced both my oral as well as written skill of
communication. Therefore, university must work on such module to prepare student to
attain their personal objective of their lives.
