Introduction
Unos property development is an established and already one of the successful property
developer companies in Perth. For the past 35 years, this company has been specializing in the
development of both commercial and residential properties. However, auditing conducted reports
that in its service provision, this company has not maintained the pace with developments
sustainable practices and building and this has negatively led to company’s profile falling down.
This, therefore, calls for an alarm on change of events as a way of improving the company
profile and regaining the company’s reputation as well. This saw the development of low rise,
high-density housing property by the name Perth skies development. The main ideas covered by
this project are how and what can be done to provide affordable, energy-efficient housing which
in long run promote sustainable living. Water and energy can be incorporated efficiently to help
rebuild this company’s profile.
Findings and discussions
Water efficiency
One of the factors that human beings consider when seeking housing is the issue of water
safety after water availability. Water may be available but the issue of water treatment may have
caused the Unos property development lose its reputation. Water treatment is a sustainable
practice that’s aimed at bringing user comfort and sustainable living through designing of the
green built environments. The main purpose of sustainability in green buildings is to mitigate the
negative impacts of buildings and the respective lifecycle on the natural environment. It is
essential to represent the substantial impact of green building evaluations as an inherent part of
future building policies for the creation of healthy living environments. (Rashidi, 2014).
Discharging of untreated water can be of high threat to the local environment and more so the

Moreover, it’s very important that our company improves water efficiency sustained
practices due to the current climatic conditions and drought experienced in the recent past years.
Water restrictions have been introduced into our cities which are the major targets for our
company investment sites. We, therefore, need to adopt an incorporated an integrated water
system designs that aim at reducing mains water consumption in our commercial and residential
buildings. This will greatly help us in keeping pace with sustainable buildings and promotion of
sustainable living for our customers. Some of the methods we can employ to achieve this is the
use of the integrated design water efficiency techniques in the course of property construction,
consideration of alternative lot scale water sources and greywater reuse. Connecting our new and
future properties to the main water supply points and drilling water boreholes for common shares
can help improve water availability.
Due to the drought conditions, we can consider harvesting all harvestable rainwater and
storing the surplus water inbuilt soak wells within our premises. Planting many trees around the
company’s property is also another way of conserving any traces of the harvested water. The
trees provide enough water shade and conducive gardening space for our customers. Lastly, on
the matter of water efficiency, we ought to consider water-efficient appliances and fixtures that
in our building and construction case can consist of 3-star selected shower heads and 4-star
kitchen and vanity basin tapware. (Byrne, et al., 2014) These mechanisms will help in 30 %
reduction of per person water consumption thus water efficiency will be achieved. This will help
