This particular essay shall be discussing about the notion that the United States of
America is a super power which us supposed to be the thesis statement. There are several areas
on which the United States of America have gained dominance over all other nations of the
world, namely economic, military, scientific development et cetera and all of them have added to
the political dominance of the nation over the affairs of the world. The focus of the thesis
statement of this particular essay shall be to examine the role or the importance of the United
States of America with regard to the activity of policing that she perpetrates over the affairs of
other nations of the world.
PART TWO—FOUR SPECIFIC EXAMPLES
Firstly, when the cold war had come to an end in the year 1990, the United States of
America had emerged as the super power which could be attributed to the collapse of the United
Socialist Soviet Russia, and the resultant independence of the nations of Eastern Europe. The
economic and the military power had weakened of the United Socialist Soviet Russia and thus
the political power had also weakened which was why the stronghold could not be maintained.
While on the other hand, the United States of America had maintained her economic and military
power which had enabled her to claim her status as a political power and had in turn encouraged
her to take upon herself the role of policing other nations (Cox & Stokes, 2018). Secondly,
during those days in the post cold war period, oil was a source of power which was highly sought
after by most nations of the developed west for supplementing the industrial production. Other
sources of energy like the natural gas or the usage of non conventional sources of energy were
not much popular hence to supplement the energy needs of the United States of America she had

embarked upon interfering into the internal political matters of oil rich nations like Iraq and Iran
so that they would sell oil to the United States of America at a cheap rate. Hence policing those
nations was necessary for manipulating them into acting in accordance with the desires of United
States of America (Hook, 2015).
Thirdly, as a result of the interference of the United States of America in the Islamic
nations of the Middle East, she had incurred the enmity from the terrorist organizations which
were heel bent upon targeting the United States of America. The classic example, is the attack on
the twin towers by Osama Bin Laden. Convinced of the fact that he was hiding in Afghanistan,
United States of America had decided to attack the nation and dominate over the political affairs
of the nation through policing the governance of the nation for the sake of getting hold of Bin
Laden (Kaufman, 2017). Fourthly, the policing of the other nations was necessary an action on
part of the United States of America as she had to gain a political control over the world by
means of spreading the capitalist ideology throughout the world and dissuade them from
expressing their inclination in favour of the communistic ideal. The spread of capitalism all
throughout the world would have meant that the economic prospects of the United States of
America would have increased and by that she could deploy economic manipulation to gain
political control over other nations of the world and also get a world market for making her
products, technology and culture to be made saleable (Cox & Stokes, 2018).
PART THREE: DEALING WITH AN OPPOSING VIEW
The United States of America had been a formidable force in bringing Iraq and
Afghanistan to their knees but she had failed to do so in Iran where the Islamic Revolution had

defeated the aggressive foreign policy decisions with fanaticism despite lacking the necessary
military strength (Pillar, 2016).
PART FOUR: LEGACY AND IMPACT TODAY - CONCLUSION
The discussion in the previous section had been based on the post cold war period when
the world was a unipolar world however in the contemporary times the situation is that of multi
polarity and the erstwhile domination is over. There are mushrooming regional organizations at
every part of the world which are aimed at countering the influence and domination of the United
States of America. However even today, the United States of America is a potential force which
continues policing of her enemies. Despite international outcry, United States of America
continues to police Iran’s nuclear program whom she considers a potential threat.
