It has always been a great concern for the society those military women in United States.
Around 200,000 women serve in the military forces in the US and more than 50% of them have
been sexually harassed. This essay will look to find out the reasons and the problem solutions so
this evil and unethical practice can be stopped.
The practice of sexual assault on women in US Military forces is perceived as threat to all the
women of the nation.
The reason of these activities might be due to the depression of the army personnel and
officers that they go through due to staying at the army camps for months after months. They are
forced to suppress their normal sexual desires to be involved in the combats. After a certain time,
they tend to lose their control and commit such despicable activities.
The current approach or training system has not been able to reduce the levels of sexual
harassments in the military forces (Buchanan et al., 2014). Still many women in the military
forces have made some unwelcome comments about the harassments faced by them. This is still
a problematic issue after the worldwide #MeToo campaign.
In the surveys done across the women of the USA military, it has been said that the 73%
of women had stated male personnel in the army made unwelcome comments against them.
Around 20% of the women faced sexual touching at inappropriate places (Wood & Toppelberg,
2017).
Nearly 3% of women had been raped as well. This sums up the extent to which women
had become victims of sexual harassments. According to supreme commanders of the Army, the
force should always take zero tolerance approach against this (Wood & Toppelberg, 2017). They
should also be trained about the ethical considerations regarding their behavior.

In the concluding part, it must be said that the US military forces must become very strict
in eliminating these issues and revive their reputation in front of the world and provide women
with the dignity they deserve.
