Reason for conflict between North Korea and the US
The relationship between North Korea and the United States had deteriorated since the
Korean War between 1950 and 1953 (Mead, 2013). The Korean peninsula was along the 38th
parallel between the USSR in the north and US in the South. In the year 1950, Kim II Sung, the
then president of North Korea, crossed the 38th parallel in order to invade South Korea. As a
result of this, war broke out between North Korea and South Korea. During the war, South Korea
was supported by the US. The then US President Harry Truman said that the US is supporting
South Korea to stop the domination of the Soviet Union over the mentioned nation. Not only that
the US had forced the UN coalition to support South Korea in order to defeat North Korea who
was backed by two of the major communist nation, namely, China and the Soviet Union. The
rapid technological advancement of North Korea has assisted the nation to develop some of the
most powerful missiles which can deliver nuclear weapons to Hawaii, Alaska, California and the
rest of the west coast (Baylis, Smith & Owens, 2017).

Considering the fact that the missiles designed by North Korea bear a potential threat for
the US, to Ms. Realist had suggested the US president, Ms. Donald Trump, needs to conduct the
fifth round of preparatory summit between American and North Korean negotiator in order to
settle down the conflict. Moreover, according to Ms. Realist, US policymakers need to urge
China to convince Pyongyang to give up the nuclear program. Considering the fact that
currently, China has grown tired of the brinksmanship as well as provocations of North Korea,
this can e considered to be the best time to convince the nation.

Opinion about the Advice suggested
Considering the present situation and the consequences of conflict on the US, the advice
given by Ms Realistic is justified. The advanced weapons developed by North Korea have the
potential to destroy several major countries of UK and this, in turn, will impose the highly
negative impact on the economic condition of the US (Mead, 2013). Thus it can be understood
that North Korea needs to be prevented from the further manufacture of the missiles on an urgent
basis. The initial summit that has been suggested by Ms Realist will help both the countries to
seek out the matter with the help of face to face communication. The next strategy that can be
implemented was communicating with China so that Pyongyang can be convinced to give up the
nuclear program. If China can be convinced to take a go-slow approach towards
denuclearization, the nuclear program of DPRK will take a long time to arise and as a result of
this, the risk of a nuclear attack of North Korea on the US will get minimized (Hastedt, 2017).
However, considering the fact that the relationship between the US and China is not favorable it
will be tough for the negotiators to convince the Chinese government. In order to deal with this
issue, the Chinese government can be convinced that North Korea’s continued possession of
nuclear weapons can act as a major risk for china’s own security in near future.
