Definition of User Interface and User Experience Design
User interface design the name itself denotes that it is used for communicating with
the software. The UI design is helpful to the users for accessing different web pages. The user
interface is a front-end application vision to which the users interact to use the software. The
user can easily manipulate and control the software and the hardware with the help of the user
interface design. For example, we can see the user interface in the computer, mobile phones,
cars, music players and in every digital technology (Darejeh and Singh 2013). The user
interface design provides a fundamental platform for human-computer communication. It is
also a part of the software. The software is generalized when the user interface of the
software is attractive, simple to use, responsive in a short time and clear to understand. The
user interface is divided into two classes. The command line interface and the graphical user
interface. The user interface is the point where the users can access and interacts with the
system (Benyon 2014). The user interface design is a place which involves different designs
where the users can experience and understand the software. The main focus point of the UI
design is the surface and the design of the overall front end of the application. However, to
make the UI more attractive and user friendly, the design must have simple label icons,
different components such as buttons. The best user interface design offers direct
accessibility and comfortable control related to the application for the users.
The more easy and fun the experiences are, it is highly likely that the design is more
sophisticated and powerful. To create an application, it takes a whole team of people who
goes through a creative process called user experience design (Gothelf 2013). User
experience design is all about who, when, where and why uses the different products. Once it
is clear that what is the want and the need of the user, the designing of the interface becomes
much easier. The user experience design is a method which helps in creating the products in a

manner that it is meaningful to the users. The user design includes the various journey of the
users. The UX design includes visual design, interaction design, programming and
psychology. The designing is done for humans who are the users. It requires fulfilling the
different demands of the users and accommodating the physical barriers (Hassenzahl 2013).
The user experience design incorporates all the different features of the end users interact
with the service, products and the company. The user experience design can be stated as the
overall knowledge of the users while communicating with the system. UX designers analyse
and evaluate all the different aspects so that the user can utilize the design, and the task can
be performed efficiently. However, the UX design addresses the feelings of the users while
using the system and also deals with the efficiency of the user interface.
Difference between User Interface and User Experience Design
UX and UI are not the same things, and they are two different things. UX design
stands for user experience design. In simple terms, UX design is a human first web designing
product. It deals with the experience and interaction with the product or the service. UX
deals with all the physical products to digital experiences. UI design stands for user interface
design. UI is the interface with which the user interacts. It deals with the visual experience of
the users (McKay 2013). When it comes to functionality, the user interface deals with the
look, and the UX deals with how the things work. The UI can be stated as a deliverable, and
the UX can be stated as a process. The design of the UI includes visual design and the ways
the product or the service can be made interactive. The UX design comprises of the different
prototyping, user testing and interaction design. With the help of the UX, the interface is
made useful, and with the UI, the interface is made beautiful and more attractive. The UI
creates an emotional connection, and the UX helps in fulfilling the user’s goals. The UI only
deals with the interface, and the UX design deals with the entire product, its interfaces and

the services. The job of designing the user interface is performed by the user interface
designers. The designer decides the ways that can make the application more attractive for
the users. They require to select the colour schemes and the shape of the buttons for the
interface. The user interface designer is responsible for creating the overall presentation of
the application. The designers of the UI are generally graphic designers. The UI design deals
with the aesthetics of the application. However, UX designers are concerned about how the
interface will operate. The UX design is the interaction design and the UI design is the visual
design. The UX designer is responsible for the structure and the functionality (Roth 2015).
The designers create a wireframe which helps them in gaining the feedbacks from the users.
However, the UX design must be made in a way that is user preferable for the interaction
with the system.

Importance of UI and UX Design
The UI and the UX design both are equally important for the web industry and are
interrelated with each other. It can be easily justified with an example. For example, assume a
product to be a human body, the organ represents the UX design measuring and improving
against input for supporting the life functions. UI design signifies the overall physical
appearance, presentation and senses of the body. UX focusses on the journey of the users to
solve a problem. However, UI design emphasis on how the product or services interface
looks and functions (Kaasinen et al., 2015). The UI and the UX work together. One team
deals with the work of the user interface and the second team deals with the outlook of the
user interface. The main focus of any business is to rise sales and develop the business. UI
and UX design play a vital role in achieving this objective. The UI and the UX design helps
in achieving customers’ satisfaction that increases the users for a specific application. As
there is a huge amount of application in the market, the application must be more attractive
and user friendly and must grab the attention of the users in a short period. With the support
of the UI and UX design the users’ confidence can be easily achieved and the website or the
application can be made in such a way that the users are bound to use the application or the
website and can easily avail all the requirements that the user is looking for (Park et al.,
2013). For a start-up or new business, it is the significance of the UI and UX design is
increased as the first impression of the application or the website will help in creating a long
lasting impression and will increase the chance of the brand recognition. From the
perspective of business, user satisfaction plays a key role in creating the user's satisfaction.
The value of the brand identity and the reputation of the business is improved with the help of
good UI and UX design. However, it can be stated that UI and UX is one of the most
important parts of web development.

Consequences of Lack of UI and UX Design in Web Industry
In recent time it is observed that if a website or an application lacks the usability,
content and experiences, it will affect the business. There are serious consequences that the
companies can face with improper or no UI and UX design for their applications or websites.
The application must be user friendly and interactive if it is absent the number of users
decreases and eventually led to the downfall of the business. The user is not able to interact
properly with the service and the product, and the experience of the users are frustrated. It
creates an unnecessarily complicated environment for the users, and the user becomes
irritated (Lee et al., 2015). It eventually led to complication for the users, and the users are
not able to approach towards the service or the product offered by a particular industry. The
user always desires to interact with the brand and communicate with the associates. However,
the lack of any user-interface kills the users’ needs and desires. The complete brand identity
of the business cannot be recognized as the users are not satisfied as there is no design related
to user interface and User Experience design. The lack of both the design led to a situation
where the user looks for the information regarding an industry (Dong, Churchill and Nichols
2016). However, the industry is not able to provide such experience to the users. However,
the UI and UX design help in studying the feedback of the users. However, the good view
and websites help in improving the business and develops business outcomes.
