INTRODUCTION
Airline industry has faced drastic changes in profitability and daily operations after global
spread of the COVID-19 virus. International airline traffic was reduced due to the pandemic and
affected income generated by airline firms negatively. Effective vaccine development and quick
vaccine distribution leading to reduction in COVID-19 cases provide airline firms to recover
from the losses suffered due to the pandemic. The present report describes steps taken by UWL
airlines to recover from the pandemic.
MAIN BODY
Steps UWL airlines have to take in order to recover from coronavirus
The coronavirus has affected various aspects of the airline industry the long term impact of
the COVID-19 pandemic in initiating structural changes in the airline industry is yet to be
discovered (Will airline hubs recover from COVID-29?, 2020). The development of effective
coronavirus vaccines by multiple business firms and decrease in COVID-19 cases in many
countries can be used as an opportunity by UWL airlines to seek recovery in profitability. As the
pandemic is not over and COVID-19 cases have accelerated in some countries such as India,
Airlines firms have to take various steps in order to recover in such situations. In addition to this
the focus of UWL needs to be on developing capabilities which help the firm survive if the
situation worsens. The steps to recover from Coronavirus in relation to UWL airlines are
provided below:
The major challenge for airlines after opening of airports in safe countries will be to ramp
up various daily operations after displacement of staff members and aircrafts (Schosser and
Hausladen, 2020). In this situation, the decision of UWL is to redesign aircraft network in order
to smoothly shift towards open international flight routes and return of consumers. The first step
of the company needs to be to utilize data analysis tools to redesign flight network for maximum
efficiency.
UWL needs to develop data analytics capabilities. This step will help the company
effectively predict consumer behaviour after the end of the pandemic. Data analytics technology
will consider external and internal behaviour to understand the level of comfort consumers have
in returning to air travel and the precise levers that will influence them to start early rebooking.

UWL can use the insights given by data analytics to enhance decision making and make the most
profitable trade-offs.
The next step taken by UWL includes creation of attractive discounts, air travel packages
and other offers to stimulate demand after the world returns to normalcy. The firm needs to take
advantage of abolition of travel restriction all over the globe to gain beneficial position in the
travel industry. UWL needs to build lucrative travel offers for every consumer segments such as
families, solo travellers, business travellers and others to attract consumers after reopening of
international flight routes and destinations. This includes discount offers, promo codes with
every flight, extra luggage space, free meal up gradation and many others (Saini and Saini,
2020). In addition to this the company needs to market various offers with different channels in
order to reach consumers and push direct online bookings.
Another step the respective airline firm needs to take is to build remote working facilities
for staff members which do not face the consumer directly. This includes IT staff, consumer
service staff and corporate business units (Schosser and Hausladen, 2020). This will help the
company reduce costs as one of the lessons learnt from the pandemic is that with the help of
effective technology non-essential staff can easily complete their work remotely. This will help
UWL reduce costs while not compromising with quality of services provided to the consumers.
This step will not only help the firm tackle current situations of active pandemic but will also act
as preventive measure if the situation worsens.
UWL airlines has to develop its services by keeping in mind the various health issues which are
taking place in the economy so that development of the country it will also helps in increasing
the customer loyalty of the business in the marketplace due to which profit of the business will
also get increased if the business will not develop its services then it can create loss of the
industry due to Covid-19 situation company has to go through a big loss which has affect the
revenue generating power of the business due to which company will not able to perform
effectively in the marketplace because people are more worried about their health because of
which they are avoiding the travelling through the airlines due to which profit of the company
has been decreased in the marketplace.if the company wants to increase its profit then it
important for the business to develop its services in the market so that more profit can earned and
loss can be recovered properly (Yimga, 2019). Social distancing should be followed in the
business so that chances of Covid-19 can be eliminated from the company in the airports also
