Literature review searching databases for 6 article worksheet
Part 1 – Go to the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals database
(CINAHL Complete)
1. Go to the UWL library and click on A-Z databases
2. Choose databases at the top and pick: CINAHL complete (Use just CINAHL complete
if you don’t find enough studies you can also ‘choose databases’ at the top in CINAHL
and tick Academic Search Elite and Medline).
Part 2 – Run your search using the keywords you have developed
You should be aiming for a list of 50-100 results which you can then go through by title and
abstract to find your 1 key article. It is important to learn to read titles and abstract and spot
which are interventions and relevant to you question and which are not.
3. Type in all your keywords from the question development worksheet and run
search.

yourself.
3. Download the 1 to 6 articles and where they are not available use the inter-library
loan option at the bottom of the UWL library page to order the articles.
4. Upload the articles to the shared OneDrive folder that has been shared with you
through your student email account to be discussed in the next two teaching
sessions.
5. Then discuss the articles with your group lecturer to choose 1 relevant article in the
next teaching session.
