INTRODUCTION
Project management is the process of leading the work of a team through which they
can accomplish meet project goals within the given constraints. The whole information of the
entire project is documented which defines the development of project. The project
management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve all project goals within
given constraints (Bentahar and Cameron, 2015). The primary constraints of project are-
scope, time and budget. Project management is the activity which plays a ley role in leading,
planning and implementing critical projects to help their organization succeed in their project.
This report will define the project management plan and outline all stages through which the
whole project will be executed.
TASK
Investigation of project
This project will be based on developing a new building block- Salisbury House
around the main building in London campus. As due to growing number of students and to
create administrivia offices for staff, The University of Wales Trinity Saint David will be
opening a new building block to meet those requirements which will be established near the
min building of campus itself. Through developing a new building, the plan will be offering
additional teaching rooms, administrative office, reception, classrooms, lecturers office,
students lounge, toilet facilities and kitchenette. The project plan will outline its stakeholders,
risks which can be faced, budget, time which will be taken, quality, communication approach,
human resource management and benefits which can be gained through this project plan.
Project management plan
Project management is the use of specific knowledge, skills, tools and techniques
which helps in delivering valuable output to people. The project management defines the
ongoing activities of an organization which is followed by management to accomplish their
project goals and targets. Project management is the practice which focuses on completion
and management of certain project (Bibarsov, Khokholova and Okladnikova, 2017). A
project management plan is a series of formal documents which is used to define the
execution and control stages of a project. The project plan involves four stages which are-
project initiation, project planning, project execution and project closure. The plan will
consider risk management, resource management and communication.

The project management plan for The University of Wales Trinity Saint David for
building a block for meeting different requirements is explained below through four stages:
Project Initiation
This is the first stage of project plan in which goals and objectives are defines through
a business case. Project initiation is the first phase of project management life cycle and in
this stage is crucial as this is the foundation or base of a project plan (Heagney, 2016). In
context of the selected project plan, Salisbury House the stakeholders of the plan, risk and
budget will be determined in this stage. This stage is essential for the project plan as this will
be helpful in evaluating the key people and threats which can be unravel throughout the
project of building a new block to meet all the project and university requirements. This stage
of project plan will discuss about the stakeholders, risk and budget of the University which
will be incurred while building a new block.
Stakeholder: Stakeholder Analysis
Stakeholder analysis is the process of determining the key stakeholders which is the
initial stage of a project plan. With the help of this analysis, the interest and power of
stakeholders are identified through which their control on activities can be evaluated.

With the help of stakeholder analysis, the stakeholders of university are identified
who are- their students, parents, community groups, education industry, board members,
trustees, teachers, faculty, authorities and government (Kerzner, 2017). As per their interest
and power in the university, it can be seen that government have less interest but holds more

power or authority which can create an impact on the operations of the project plan. The
board members, trustees hold high power and high interest o the functions of the project and
project plan. Therefore, teachers and students have low power and high interest in the overall
functions and project of the university. Lastly, parents as stakeholders hold less power and
less interest in the project plan which have been initiated by the university for building a new
block.
Risk: Risk metrics
Risk is an unexpected event which can create a adverse impact on the project plan. It
can create an impact on the people, process, technology and resources which will be used
throughout the project plan (Kostalova, Tetrevova and Svedik, 2015). In order to evaluate
risk which can be faced while Salisbury House project can be determined by evaluating
various risk elements, which are- risk event, risk timeframe, probability, impact and the
factors which can trigger risk. The risk which can be faced through the project is evaluated
and scaled according to their impact and intensity which can create an impact on the overall
project management plan.

Risk metrics is a tool which is used to track and monitor risk which can create an
impact on the project. As risk management is an essential factor for completing a project, the
university will make use of risk metrics throughout their Salisbury House project. As the
university will be developing a new building block which is Salisbury House, this will
involve various risk and uncertainties which can hamper the operations and function in

project management (Levy, 2018). Some of the risk which can be faced throughout the
Salisbury House building can be related top communication risk, cost risk, operational risk,
health and safety risk, performance risk, labor risk, poor planning risk and inadequate cost
estimation which can influence the continuity of the actions which will be taken for meeting
the project targets.
Budget
A project budget is the total sum of financial resources which are allocated for
specific project over specific period of time. The aim of setting a budget for the project is to
control project cost which will help in managing expenses and avoiding unnecessary
expenditures.
In order to set a budget, a project cost will be estimated through which the cost,
quality and price of all resources will be forecasted for finishing the project. The cost which
will be incurred for development of Salisbury House project will be £90,000.
The project will require various materials and will be completed with the help of
external factors and labors which will support in meeting the project objective (Meredith and
et.al, 2020). The budget which will be created for Salisbury House project will cover various
factors where financial resource swill be utilized, such as material cost, labor cost and other
cost that will be incurred throughout the project plan. In order to ensure that the project of
Salisbury House is planned and executed as per the budget, latest technology will be used
through which cost can be effectively managed. The task which needs to be performed within
the Salisbury House project will be outsources which will be helpful in cutting the cost and
saving some financial resources.
Project Planning
Project planning is an element of project management which helps in planning
activities of project and report progress within the project environment. This can be done
through manual calculations and with the help of planning software. Project planning is the
process of documenting steps and stages which will be followed for accomplishing a goal
within certain time frame.
Time
In context of project management, time management plays a crucial role as this helps
in making use of time in appropriate manner to complete all activities and task of the project

within selected time frame. In case of Salisbury House project, time management will help in
planning and deciding the time frame which needs to be allocated to each task through the
whole project plan (Müller, Drouin and Sankaran, 2019). This practice will help in
scheduling and examining the completion of this project. The project management of
Salisbury House project will evaluate the activities which needs to be performed and will
determine their dependencies and will sequence them as per their requirements. After
evaluating the activities, a specific time frame will be planned in which the activities need to
be completed through which the whole plan can be completed and project objectives can be
met in timely manner and effectively. The whole project of Salisbury House of building a
new block will be completed within the time frame of 1 year.
In order to ensure that all the activities of Salisbury House have been executed in
timely manner, various time management tolls and techniques will be used. Kanban board is
one of the approaches which will be used to manage time in the Salisbury House project
through which a visual representation of project, its activities and their progress can be
represented to the whole project team (Sears and et.al, 2015). Such practice will help in
ensuring all project members work collaboratively towards the achievement of objectives
within planned timeframe.

Another time management technique which will be followed in the Salisbury House
project is Time tracker tool which will be helpful in evaluating the performance and time

taken for completing the assigned task (Silvius, 2017). With the help of a time tracker for
Salisbury House, it will support in ensuring effective team management, better collaboration
and performance and this will also support in effective planning of future activities.
Quality
In this stage of project planning, the management needs to ensure that the quality of
raw material and all other material is good through which the project can be executed as per
the desired standards. In this stage of project planning, the quality standards which will be
maintained throughout the project are planned which will be helpful in maintaining and
meeting the standards which needs to be accomplished from the project objectives. Project
quality management is the approach of managing and maintain the quality throughout the
project. Quality management process will help in controlling the cost of project, establishing
standards, evaluating steps which needs to e achieved and it will also support in decreasing
the risk of failure which can hinder the progress of Salisbury House project.
In case of Salisbury House project, Total Quality Management (TQM) technique will
be followed to ensure all activities are planned and carried out as per the required quality
standards. As Total Quality Management is a systematic and integrated approach, this will be
helpful in maintaining the records of all the resources which will be utilized and have been
utilized in the project plan. This strategy will also help in ensuring better quality of material
which have been used through which the overall cost can be reduces and this will also
support in avoiding wastage or overutilization of available resources. By implementing TQM
approach, this will be helpful in following safety measures throughout the project plan.
In order to meet the quality standards which needs to be achieved in Salisbury house
project, the project will also focus in quality management planning which will identify the
quality requirements and standards for the project (What is Project Quality Management,
2020). This will be helpful in clearly sharing the objective with stakeholders and will support
in meeting the desired quality standards of project.
Project Execution
Project execution is the stage in which actions have been through the project plan are
discussed. In this stage of project management, all planned activities are carried out,
deliverables are created and are presented to the stakeholders. In other words, project
execution is the stage when the work is performed and planned activities are performed.

Human resource management
In this stage of project execution, the activities of human resource management of
organizing, managing and leading the project team will be executed through which all
planned actions of project can be performed accordingly (Walker, 2015). In case of Salisbury
House block building project, various human capital in the form of labor management and
coordinators will be required to perform all activities of the project plan. The human resource
management of Salisbury House project will ensure that all personnel’s who are engaged in
the project of block building are trained, skilled and licensed to perform the required
activities in order to meet quality, ensure safety of people involves and to meet the project
objective in effective and constructive manner.
Communication
Project communication management is the composition of process through which
right message is sent, received and understood by the right people involve in the whole
project. This stage of project execution defines the various communication strategies and
techniques which are followed throughout the project to share and transfer the information
appropriately and in timely manner. The communication process which will be focused
through the Salisbury House project are- plan communication management, manage
communication and monitor communication (What is Project Communication Management,
2021). The different mediums which will be used throughout the block building project are-
verbal, written and visual form of communication. The message will be communicated
through face-to-face conversation, e-mail, notice and through formal letters.
Project Closure
This is the last stage of project plan in which the work is evaluated and all activities
are settled off. In this stage, the project management team analyses the benefits and
advantages which has been gained throughout the project.
Benefits realization
This is the process of last stage of project plan which helps in evaluating the benefits
which has been derived through the project plan. In case of Salisbury House building project,
this will be helpful for administration staff, lecturers, faculty and students through which they
can perform the activities effectively and this will also support students in getting actively
engaged in learning (Ziek and Anderson, 2015). This will be helpful in enhancing the

communication and collaboration among all stakeholders through which students can also
engage in active learning which will be helpful in sharpening their skills and shaping their
career. Salisbury house project will be a helpful approach for enhancing the team
effectiveness.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that project management is a systematic
process which defines various activities that needs to be performed for meeting the project
target. With the help of project management, an action plan is created where all activities are
planned accordingly through which effective outcomes can be achieved. Therefore, a project
management plan is a continuous approach where several stages are followed for meeting the
project objectives. All stages of the project management plan play a critical role in meeting
their objectives in selected time frame.
