Introduction
COVID-19 was spread in the year 2020 across whole world which not only created
health risks but also impacted economies of various countries worldwide. Several
countries developed vaccine against this virus which is the current solution. But
many citizens of countries ignored getting their shot of vaccine because of lack of
information and fear about vaccine (Hassankhani and et. al., 2021). In this report,
different barriers faced by people in getting vaccination and effective strategies
against it has been discussed.
Common challenges and barriers
Physical barriers:
Vaccine for COVID-19 has been developed and government aims to
vaccinate population across country but some of the people does not know how to
book their slots. They also face obstacles in reaching to centres as they are far from
their place of residence.
Pro Vaccination Campaign
Emotional barriers:
People are frightened and do not have faith in vaccine as they believe that
it will make them sick or some side effects will occur in their body. They also
want to avoid contact with other people and that's why they ignore to visit
vaccination centres (Khai and et. al., 2020).
Information barriers:
Some people lacks whole information about the process of getting
vaccinated or about vaccine. As there is lot of negativity regarding vaccine
which also spread misinformation among people and make them doubt about the
vaccine.
Cultural barriers:
The population of UK is diverse and comes from different culture as well
as background which sometimes creates trouble for understanding them believes.
Health care departments in the country sometimes lacks to provide care to people
with different values and behaviour.

Attitudinal barriers:
Some people still think that vaccine is not the right solution for COVID-19
and getting vaccinated will eventually makes them ill. Sometimes, if someone
wants to get vaccinated the people around do not encourage or support that person
(Olwill, Mc Nally and Douglas, 2021).
Effective strategies
To increase more awareness about vaccine and to encourage people to get
vaccinated the government must take some steps in order to overcome these
barriers. Some of which are recommended here:
Government must provide clear information regarding the vaccine and the
process of getting vaccinated among the people through various
entertainment platforms such as televisions, newspaper, social media and
radio channels.
The government must explain the need and importance of getting
vaccinated. They must not sugar coat any information and represent the
right details about the consequences as well as benefits of getting
vaccinated to people.
The leaders or politicians must listen to the concerns of people regarding
vaccine and must try to solve them. The more leaders will engage
themselves in understanding people issues the more citizens will trust
them and might get encourage to get vaccinated (Klemeš and et. al.,
2020).
The government must try to understand the needs of diverse people as
virus does not impact people on the basis of their cast or religion. The
information provided must be in several ways which is understandable
by every person in country.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it has been observed that COVID-19 has not
only impacted people physically but also mentally. It has been seen that people
have lots of miscommunications and lacks information regarding vaccine due to
which most of citizens in UK avoid taking vaccine. Not getting vaccinated could
create more health risks hence, it is very important to create awareness about
vaccine among people.
