method of securing the health of the
children from a wide range of diseases.
• It protects pre-school and school aged
children (0- 16yrs) from vaccine-
preventable issues which involve
amputation of an arm or leg, paralysis,
deafness, convulsions, injury in the
brain leading to damage, and death.
• Flu vaccine should be given to children,
since flu viruses constantly change
year to year. Previous year vaccine
may not prevent the next year vaccine.
That is why, children should be
vaccinated (Black & Richmond, 2018).
Steps for parents
• Parents should visit a healthcare facility
once every week or consult news or
online sources to get information
regarding the latest available vaccines.
• Parents who are not ready to vaccinate
their children because of the myths,
they should be provided proper
evidence regarding why the myths are
false.

Myths - Evidence
• Vaccine causes autism in children -
The myth that vaccine causes autism
was proved to be fraudulent, since the
paper in 1998 which proved that MMR
vaccine causes autism was later proved
to be wrong (Taylor, Swerdfeger &
Eslick, 2014).
• Vaccination can cause sudden infant
death syndrome (SIDS) in the
children – It has been proved that
children who are vaccinated are safe
from SIDS (Miller, Moro, Cano &
Shimabukuro, 2015).
• Vaccine causes asthma and allergies
– It has been proved that vaccine do not
cause asthma, though the risk of
allergies is very minimum or can be
considered rare (Timmermann, Osuna,
Steuerwald, Weihe, Poulsen &
Grandjean, 2015).
• Vaccine can weaken the immune
system of a baby – It has been proved
that through regular immunisation the
