Introduction
Value stream map is an important tool that is required for developing a framework that is
to be followed by the business organization for better commencing of the functional process.
Value stream map provides a guidance of how the functioning process must be performed by the
business organization for reaching their goals. System archetypes on other hand acts as an
analysis tool that helps in understanding the issue that is present in the functional process with
the help of the system archetype the issue that is present is understood and hence mitigation
process is also commenced after the identification of the issues that are present. System
archetypes are a section of system thinking that provides better understanding of the data
management set. This management of the system thinking implementation has been benefitting
the business organizations that has been implementing the same. This report provides an
understanding of the background of the case study that is to be considered in the system. This
report also helps in understanding of the archetypes that will be used as per the case that is taken
into consideration. A proper recommendation regarding the developing of a new value stream
map will also be provided that will facilitate the functioning process of the emergency
department. Consequences regarding the new value stream map will also be provided.
Background
The emergency department of a hospital has been losing efficiency in the functional
processing of the treatment process. The time that is required for completion of the treatment
process is very high. This delay in the treatment process has been one of the major concern for
the hospital. The patients have been complaining against the delay in the treatment and hence a
change in the processing of the management system is expected. The value stream map that is
existing in the framework has been one of the major issue. This enhances the fact that a new

value stream map is to be performed for providing better functional performance. This will
ensure the fact that proper management of the delay management has to be performed. As per the
commencement of the newly designed value stream map, it is expected that the delay that is
being occurring needs to be halved. This halving of the delay in the patient delay is a major
challenge as the resources present are utilized to the fullest and hence it will be a challenging a
task. Implementation of system archetype is also required (Jimmerson 2017). This ensures the
fact that proper management of the delay time has to be decreased. This decrease in the delay
time has been performed in a manner that patients get treated well.
Body
System archetypes that impedes performance
System archetypes acts as a reference pattern that helps in analyzing the issues that are
present. With the help of the analysis of the issues that are present in the system incurs the fact
that proper management of the data will get performed as per the factors that will be present as
per the commencement of the business management (Matthews & Kavelaars 2016). This
completion of the system incurs the fact that the data that are gathered includes proper
management of the business processing. The system archetypes that impedes the performance
includes limit to growth, eroding from goal, escalation and tragedy of commons.
According to the Escalation system archetype, it acts as a reflective comparison that
provides a better understanding of the issues that are to be performed and hence the issue that is
present in the business management processing can be performed in a manner (Ali, Petersen &
Schneider 2016). This ensures that barriers come around for several times and hence the time
that is required for completing the business management section. Another aspect that is taken
into consideration is that it provides a positive impact as well but in the initial stages the

performance process gets functional in an inefficient manner (Banson, Nguyen & Bosch 2016).
Despite the fact that with the help of the escalation system archetype impeding performance, it
gradually benefits the business organization as the issues present in the system is well stated and
hence mitigation of the issues can be made.
According to the limit to growth system archetype, a separate set of guidelines are
created. This insists the main aspect that plan and schedule is already plotted. After plotting of
the scheduled plan the functioning process is performed. This performance of the planning
before starting the work process insists the fact that despite presence of disadvantages in the
processing of the functional process, the task is to be performed as per the framework. This
ensures that the data functioning process gets affected (Bagodi & Mahanty 2015). This is one of
the major aspect that innovation implementation is affected. In this case, the value stream map is
already constructed and the entire processing of the emergency treatment process is performed as
per the value stream map. This incurs the aspect that despite the inappropriate value stream map
that is designed, it is to be followed. This following of the inappropriate value stream map
ensures that the time that will be taken for completion of the treatment process will get very high.
This aspect definitely impedes the performance of the emergency treatment process (Clancy
2018).
According to the eroding of goal archetype the main aspect that can be considered
includes the fact that the goal that is initially set before starting of the project gets molded in a
manner that affects the functional process. This diversion from the set goal affects the business
organization in a manner that is not desirable. This eroding of goal occurs due to presence of
several barriers during the execution stage. This is considered to be a main issue in the execution
process. As in this case the main aim that was set for serving the patient who are facing

emergency situation. This ensures that goal of serving the patients in an urgent basis was not
performed in a proper manner. This is one of the major issue that is present in the current value
stream map. This aspect ensures that a new value stream map is to be designed.
According to the tragedy of commons, the main aspect that is needed to be considered
includes the fact that better understanding of the resource allocation balance is to be performed.
This ensures that the efficiency in the functioning process gets performed in a negative manner.
As per the case study that is taken into consideration, the main aspect that is taken into
consideration is that the nurses who are the resource in this case has excess data transaction is
performed. This is one of the major aspect that the resource allocation balance is absent in the
case. Due to this imbalance, the efficiency in the functional process gets affected. Hence time
taken for completion of the treatment process is affected in a negative manner. This insists the
fact that a new value stream map is to be designed that will provide a higher resource allocation
balance.
Analysis of the Current State Value Stream Map based on System Archetypes
According to the current value stream map, the patient registers themselves. This
registering of the patient helps in enrolling of the patient data. After completion of the patient
registration process, the data are sent to the attendant nurse. After completion of the data
transaction, the data set that is provided to the nurses, helps the nurses to assign the ER room that
is vacant. After the ER room is allotted the patient is tested by the nurse. After reaching the
waiting room before the ER room allocation, the patient needs to wait (King & King 2015). After
waiting in the waiting room, the patient again waits in the ER room before the nurse provides
them with initial treatment. After completion of the nurse treating the patient, the patient again
waits. After waiting the patient gets tested by the doctor. After the doctor tests the patient, the

patient again waits. After this wait the doctor treats the patients and hence process gets
performed as per commencing of the data management process. After the treatment completion,
the patient again needs to wait, the main aspect that is considered is that the nurses provides the
patients with the discharge tips. After this process, insurance company takes data from the
hospital record and hence data processing gets performed in an inefficient manner. There are
high dependency of the functional processing of the nurses who are responsible for the data
circulation. This data circulation insists the fact that excess time is taken for completion of the
treatment process. The archetypes that are present in the system includes limit of growth. This
processing of the current value stream map usage for the treatment process ensures that excess
time is taken as there is an imbalance in the resource allocation balance.
New State Value Stream Map
Shifting of burden is the system archetype that is required for the developing of the value
stream map. This ensures that the data system will be performed for removing of the burden
from the nurse for the data transaction process. This shifting of burden form the nurses for the
data transaction system ensures that the time that will be required for completion of the entire
treatment process will get benefitted. This ensures that the time that will be required for
completion of the project will get better.
This new value stream map will also require the system archetype, namely escalation is
taken into consideration. As per the escalation system archetype, complains that are made by the
patients are taken into consideration. This ensures that complains that are provided by the
patients are considered as the changes that are to be made.
This value stream map that will be designed include usage of the Mediface software. This
implementation of the Mediface software ensures that the data that are to be circulated are

performed with the help of the Mediface software. This ensures that proper management of the
treatment process gets performed. As per the usage of the Mediface software, after the patient
registers themselves, the data are provided to the Mediface software. This ensures that the data
are circulated in a faster manner and the resource allocation balance is maintained.
In this process, after the registration is performed, data is sent to the Mediface software. These
data are provided to nurses and the doctors. With the data of free ER rooms present in the
hospitals, the nurses are also provided with the data and so are the doctors. This ensures that the
delay that was performed for the data transaction process is removed and cut off. Task
overlapping is one of the major aspect that increases the efficiency in the functioning process and
delay in the process will be performed. This overlapping of the stages includes the fact that time
required for completion of the treatment process decreases and hence better treatment process is
gained.

Consequences of the new State Value Stream Map
The consequences that is received after usage of the new value stream map includes the
fact that the time required for completion of the treatment process decreases. This is the main
advantages of using the current value stream map.
The negative consequences that are faced includes the fact that the fata breaching can
take place and hence robustness of the system decreases.
Conclusion
As per the above the discussion it can be states that proper management of the treatment
process was performed as per the value stream map that is created. This creation of the value
stream map will be performed as per the commencement of the emergency treatment process.
With the help of the system archetypes that are used along with the newly designed value stream
map the issues can be resolved.
