recommending concepts of wrong and right behaviour. Ethics are the code of conduct that need
to be apply in the organisation so that they can take decision from the choice of right and wrong
(Van Riper and et. al., 2020). It is very important for an organisation because in every time they
have to choose from options, at that time they need to concentrate on their ethics so that they can
choose right. Values are same important as ethics in the organisation as it increase the value of
their name and goodwill. An organisation can achieve their goals and objectives with the help of
collaboratively working because it gives many benefits that are covered in the report.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1 Newspaper Article
A) Explain what is meant by the term
‘ethics’.
Ethics defined in diverse ways
Ethics is the branch of philosophy
that practised by a group and an individual
person. Ethics are the code of conduct and it
applies at all stages in the individual as well
as corporate life. It is very important for an
individual and organisation that they should
take a right step in order to become a
successful person and organisation. It
depends on their ethics as it assists in taking
a corrective action or measure. It is the set of
principles in which they guide organisation
in decision making process, policies and
programs. An ethical behaviour of
employees and leaders in organisation gives
many benefits such as they get higher
productivity and efficiency. They also assist
employees to work with integrity and
honesty (Garcia-Martin and et. al., 2017).
Ethical behaviour leads to meet the aim of
organisation with the help of adhering
policies and rules. It is identified that there
are many cases that build in organisation
which create ethical issues. It can be
understanding with the help of Google
scandal in which they violate labour laws
(Google violated US labor laws, 2020). 2
employees are fired because they are related
to the protests of employees but this is not
an ethical act. So that's why it is very
necessary for an organisation that they
should improve their ethical standards.
There are many factors which influence
ethics in the organisation.
Cultural issues in directly impact on
business ethics because employees work

from different culture. They have different
values and behaviour. It can be creating
issues and effect on business ethics. On
other hand, environment issues are
increasing day by day such as emission of
carbon gases, plastic usage, etc. Now
companies set that they have to attain
sustainability in the organisation. It is very
obvious that business perform activities that
directly impact on other species on earth
such as animals. But it is the duty or
organisation that they should practices in
order to reduce environmental issues.
Legislation is one of the factor that
effect ethics of organisation because it is
identified that government intervenes in the
business because they analyse that
organisations become very unethical. This
behaviour cannot tolerate by government so
that's why they have no options to prohibit
this type of behaviour (Régis and et. al.,
2017). Social pressure is another code of
conduct because companies provide not so
much good quality of products and that's
why it influences ethics. Companies use
societies' natural resources and that's why
they have to return back in the form of
quality products but it is found that they are
lacking in this activity. H&M use organic
material to produce their goods and services.
Other factors are government rules and
regulations, personal code of ethics, etc. It is
very important for organisation that they
should take care of their activities. In simple
words, they have to perform their activities
which are come in their ethical behaviour.

important in an organisation.
Workplace ethics
Workplace ethics enhance integrity
between employees and build trust so that
they can achieve their targets. It is

workplace ethics are very important as it
assist in reduce scandals that nowadays large
organisation are facing. The existence of
scandals comes in the unethical behaviour of
organisation which may affect productivity
and efficiency of employees. If H&M
follows ethics then they did not face any
scandals. It can be better understand with the
help of example of H&M. H&M faced
allegations of unequal behaviour with their
employees as they were not provided fair
wages to the employees (Clerico and et. al.,
2019). They are failing to fulfil their pledge
in which they take an oath of living wage. It
is very necessary for an organisation that
they should perform all their activities in an
ethical manner so that they can face any
allegations. But it is found in H&M that they
were not giving equal or fair wages to their

factory workers (H&M accused of failing to
ensure fair wages, 2018). It directly effects
on their productivity and efficiency when
they got to know that they were not getting
fair wages. It is found in the survey that no
one worker was earning near in the living
wage that pledge by H&M. So that's why
workplace ethics plays a significant role in
the organisation.
Workplace ethics assist in making
the positive ambience in organisation. It is
very important for an organisation that they
should make sure about ethical behaviour as
it assist in increasing efficiency and
productivity (Ahn and Thomas, 2020).
Workplace ethics helps in achievement of
organisational objectives and goals
effectively. They also help in time
management that timely complete the work.
C) Discuss two laws in UK that promote
good ethical practice.
Important legislations of ethical practice
It is very necessary for an
organisation that they should take acre about
all ethical laws so that organisation can
provide ethical behaviour to the people. It is
analysed that there are number of rules and
regulations that they need to be follow if
organisation want to become a successful
business (Singer, 2021). The important laws

it is very necessary for and organisation that
they should follow these rules if they want
to get success and growth. To follow rules
and regulations are also a part of ethical
behaviour and practice. It assists in
achievement of goals and objectives.
HSBC is the multinational
investment bank in London, UK that always
make sure about all rules and regulation in
order to reducing ethical and legal issues. It
plays a crucial role in the market. It is very
important for an organisation that they
should know and apply employment laws
because they have many employees that
work for organisation (Terrasse, Gorin and
Sisti, 2019). They also have to follow health
and safety act i.e. made by HACCP in 2006.
It ensures the safety and health of employees
in the organisation. In addition to this, they
also need to follow Equality Act, 2010 in
which all activities are mentioned related to
the organisation which promotes equality in
the organisation. For the purpose of ethical
practice in organisation two important laws
of UK that should be apply by HSBC are
Equality Act, 2010 and Health and safety
act.
Two important laws are Equality
Act, 2010 and Health and Safety at Work
Act, 1974. Equality Act promotes equality in
the organisation (Locher and Bolander,

2019). Health and safety ensures employees' health in the organisation.

Recruitment and selection is the important function of organisation as it assists in
appointing best candidates. With the help of recruiting of new talented employees, organisation
can achieve their goals and objectives (Dove and et. al., 2017). But it is analysed that new
