This report provides a comparative geographical analysis of two communities within Metro Vancouver: Downtown Eastside and Marpole. The study utilizes secondary sources, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative data to compare population characteristics, cultural and social patterns, and main economic sectors of each community. The Downtown Eastside is characterized by a low-income population, issues with drug addiction, and a struggling economy, while Marpole presents a more affluent community with a diverse population, strong cultural activities, and a more stable economy. The report concludes that Marpole is a better choice for residential purposes, offering better living conditions, educational opportunities, and employment prospects compared to the Downtown Eastside, making it a more suitable environment for families. The research methodology included the analysis of articles, journals, books, and various reports published by governmental and non-governmental organizations to gather data on demographics, social structures, and economic activities within the two communities.
