HEATH CARE NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Introduction:
Transgender issue is one of the major burning issues in the world today. The area in
which Vancouver Coastal Health is operating its health organization the transgender issue is an
important topic to work for. The organization is already into the service of the transgender in the
specific area it is providing the health care service. The primary purpose of VCH is to provide a
full range of health care to the number of communities in BC province of United States which
includes the serving of the transgender (Provincial Health Services Authority, 2017). However,
this is a needs assessment report to the organizational leaders for the understanding of the needs
of the transgender that VCH is capable of fulfilling.
Trend Data of the Transgender:
The trend data regarding the health inequities of the transgender in the area of the BC
province indicates the need for addressing some of the issues. However, the government has
passed policies and regulations for the improvement of the transgender in Vancouver. There are
many transgender people living in the specific area who are addicted to drugs. It is found that the
health issues for the addiction of drugs have not been s properly. However, the general health
needs addressed by the organization. There are several other health issues due to the drug
addiction such as the depression, mental problem, critical lever problems and many others.
Therefore, the executive planning team of VCH is intended to approach the organizational
leaders for an intervention program that will identify the specific health needs of the transgender
people and will resolve the same.

Identified Health Requirements:
The health requirements that are being met by the organizations are (Provincial Health
Services Authority, 2017):
Support and counseling service
Endocrine therapy
General health service
Hormonal checkup
The transgender people are provided with the range of medical heath service by the
organization. However, it is found that being minor in the population of the specific area and
even in the communities, the transgender people hesitates to approach the health care team
regarding their problems (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2012). The population health team of the
organization particularly surveys and finds out the problems and issues regarding the health of
the transgender which are still not addressed. The population health team of the organization
feels the need for addressing the health problems through the intervention in order to increase the
awareness among the transgender and as well as increase the transgender population.
Requirements to be addressed:
The requirements of the transgender community people that need to be met are (Volkow
et al., 2014):

These requirements are due to the addiction of drug in of the transgender people. There
are several policies that will help the organizational health practitioners to resolve the health
requirements of the transgender community people (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2012). The
health requirements of the transgender are identified by the trend data and general survey of
VCH in the BC area. To fulfill the needs of the people of the transgender community, the
required resource are available in the organization.
Recommendation and Conclusion:
The recommendation of the needs assessment implies that the organization must do an
intervention program for the identification of the needs and fulfillment of the same. The
implication regarding the increase of the transgender population and resolving the health needs
of them requires a program where these people will unhesitatingly express their needs. In regard
to the basic purpose of the organization, the health needs of the transgender community must be
addressed by VCH. On the other hand, the need for addressing the problems of the transgender
community to certain extent indicates the failure of the organization to build an effective
relationship with the community people. The needs are to be fulfilled at the highest priority as
because the trends of the addiction and the problems relate to the same is increasing in the
transgender people. Therefore, it can be concluded from the above discourse that the
organization must meet health needs of the transgender people who are addicted to drugs and for
the same organization must plan an intervention. The intervention will not only provide the
required health facilities to the transgender community people, but also will help the organization
to build a strong relationship with the specific community.
