My philosophy of learning is that I have unique skills and knowledge to read and comprehend
pertinent topics discussed in this course. However, for me to meet my full potential, I need a
stimulating learning environment where I can grow socially, emotionally, mentally, and
physically. I believe that that there are various elements which are conducive to learning
(Jackson, 2011). I need my instructor’s role to act as a guide, I need to let my curiosity direct my
learning this course and also the opportunity to practice my learning skills in a safe and
supportive environment.
In this course, I intent to study how to analytically evaluate and describe vehicle transport (fleet)
operations, significance of fleet maintenance, how to reduce the effect of risks associated with
vehicle investment and economic impact. I need to study about various concepts of transport
management, transport planning and fleet maintenance, pricing, and costing, impact of transport
operations, pricing and costing as well as drivers health, security, safety, and incident
management. After the study, I want to be in a position to analyze and generate solutions to
common fleet problems and as well, be able to select and apply a range of standard and non-
standard processes relevant to this field of learning.
Some of the key points of my investigation include vehicle fleet operations, significance of fleet
maintenance, costs involving vehicle maintenance and planning, and how to minimize the impact
of risks associated with vehicle investment and economic impact. Other key points include
concepts of transport management, impact of transport operations, pricing, and costing, transport
planning and fleet maintenance scheduling, and also drivers heath, incident management, health,
security, and safety. These are the key points that will be included in the investigation.

As I progress through the course, there are various capabilities that I will develop. I will develop
the ability to analyze and generate solutions to some challenges encountered in vehicle fleet
operations such as dispersed team, improper asset utilization, driver insecurity, excessive
operation costs. I will be able to offer recommendations or solutions to some of these problems.
Also, I will be able to analyze various concepts of transport management for example, fleet
negotiation and audit, planning on fleet maintenance scheduling, real-time transportation
tracking, transport costs and scheme stimulation, as well as Assessment control/management.
Besides, I will be able to select and employ a range of standard and non-standard processes
relevant to this field of vehicle fleet operations.
In order to have a positive collaborative team, I will first establish leadership by developing the
right kind of leadership skills. This does not imply asserting authority rather fostering a trust
through transparency and honesty (Bourantas, & Agapitou, 2016). Secondly, I will establish
relationships with some of the prospective colleagues and try to engage them on importance of
initiating a positive collaborative team. Apart from establishing these relations, I will examine
the way my colleagues work together and how they communicate and cooperate with others.
Thirdly, I will foster teamwork by helping my team members work together and effectively. At
this juncture, I will encourage them to share information amongst each other. Rules are also
necessary because they will make the team members to not what is required and agree with it
(Fidalgo-Blanco, Sein-Echaluce, García-Peñalvo, & Conde, 2015).
The inquiry process that I will use to obtain information from my subjects is an interview. I will
design my interview questions regarding vehicle fleet operations. In order to keep clear focus on
the intent of every question, I will clearly articulate to myself what need or problem is to be

addressed using the information that the subject will provide. I will explain the purpose of the
interview and address various terms of confidentiality. The type of interview which will be used
in the study is standardized, open-ended interview wherein the interviewer will be able to ask
open-ended and closed-ended all at the same time (Turner III, 2010).
