Executive Summary:
This report is prepared to explain the costs and benefits associated with the new capital
investment project for Venice Family Clinic for up gradation of their capital assets and for
enhancing their operational efficiencies. Every new capital investment project must be
appraised before adopting the proposal and before making the investment. In this report such
an investment proposal have been proposed for the Venice Family Clinic and the costs and
benefits associated with it have been analysed and presented.

Introduction:
Venice Family Clinic is a renowned medical treatment and health care organisation of
US. Their mission is to provide prime health care facilities to the people. They have been
successfully continuing their operations since its establishment in the year 1970. They are
having a strong base of medical treatment and instruments for high quality medical testing
and diagnosing. In this report an investment in purchasing the fully equipped vehicles for
transportation of the patients has been proposed and the costs and benefits associated with
such an investment have been analyzed as follows (Almarri & Blackwell 2014).
Investment Proposal Purchase of fully equipped vehicle:
It can be evidenced that the transportation of patients is very important while there is
any emergency. Those vehicles must be equipped with some high tech medical instruments
such oxygen, first aid kits, blood pressure measurement kits and statures. It must be
comfortable for the patients and should be equipped with air-conditioned. It can be evidenced
from some of the recent cases that the mobility of the patients is important and quick
transportation of the injured patient may save a life. Therefore, there is a need for some fully
equipped vehicle for such transportation of patients.
If the Venice Family Clinic itself provides the transportation services to the patients,
then it would make the patient mobility much better and would give a better service
experience to the patients. It would help them to get the patient to the clinic quickly and start
the treatment promptly as and when needed. It would be an additional to their existing service
portfolio and can become another source of revenue.
There are two ways of making such vehicle, one is to buy a pickup truck and then
install all the necessary instruments in it or fully equipped ambulance can be purchased.

There are many suppliers of such vehicles and one important supplier of such vehicle is Ford.
Ford is having E series vehicles such as E-350 Super Duty and E-450 Super Duty ambulances
for such purposes.
Costs associated with it:
Ford is an international manufacturer and supplier of light motor vehicle as well as
super duty motor vehicles. The cost of the Ford E-Series motor vehicle would be around
$65,000 and to equip it with high tech medical instruments further it may cost around
$10,000. Therefore, the total costs for investment in such a proposal would be $75,000. In
addition there might be some taxes and permit costs to be paid to the government. It can be
expected that the vehicle would have a useful life of 5 years without any major repair and
maintenance and it can have a maximum useful life of 10 years. Apart from those one time
investment in the vehicle there would be regular expenses for the fuel costs, chaffer’s salary
and routine repair and maintenance. All those costs need to be accounted for while finalizing
such an investment decision.

Benefits arising from it:
It will make the transportation of patient very easy and comfortable for patients. As
the vehicle would be fully equipped with high tech medical instruments, it would be life
saviour for the emergency patients. It not only has benefits in monetary terms, it would have
a social benefit also. The Venice Family Clinic can charge separately from the patients for
using such a vehicle for transpiration and in this way, they can earn extra revenue also.
Therefore, it would be an additional source of revenue for them and can give them a
significant amount of revenue annually. If the net income arising from such vehicles becomes
significant then the Venice Family Clinic can add more fleet of such vehicles for the said
purpose. If they make it free for the customers or charges concessional rates, then there
would be both monetary as well as social benefits (Almarri & Blackwell 2014).
Conclusion and recommendation:
From the above discussion and analysis, it can be concluded that, there is a need for
fully equipped vehicle for transportation of patients. It would be very much beneficial for
patients as well as for the Venice Family Clinic. The investment in such a proposal may incur
a onetime cost but it would render benefits for a longer period. Therefore, it can be
recommended for the company to go for it and to purchase the Ford E-Series Ambulance
Vehicle and equip it with high tech and advanced medical instrument. They Venice Family
Clinic can charge price separately from their patients for using such facility or they can
charge a concessional rate from their patients.
