Introduction
There are various problems that a participant has to face while initiating and
implementing change. In leading and understanding, change the participants will
analyse the change related to political, psychological and organisational issues. Change
management is the skill of using effective tools, resources and planning that would
enhance the organisational development effectively. The report will compare the various
strategies used in different organisation. The report will also analyse external and
internal factors that drivers changes. The report will also suggest various steps that will
help the organisation to reduce the negative impacts. Various barriers have been
analysed to explore the various which affect the leadership decision making. The report
also explores various approaches that can be applied to during changes in the
organisation.
Verdant leisure is a medium sized organisation founded in the year 1990. The company
operates in Scotland and north of England. The company offers various holiday options
in an affordable budget. The headquarters are situated in
Lancaster, England. Presently there are 46 employees working in the organisation. The
estimated annual revenue is $9.1 Millions. The CEO of the company is Graham
Hodgson (verdantleisure.co.uk, 2019).

Part A: Responding to Change
Compare how each of the organisations has responded to the drivers for change,
considering similarities and differences in each organisation’s approach to
dealing with change.
Organisational changes refer to the imbalances created in the existing working patterns
or situations. This creates a fear of adjustments and fuss in the working environment.
Several forces of change are encountered by the organisations, both external and
internal. Awareness about these forces helps the manager to consider the factors,
which they should consider while implementing an organisational change (Burnes et.al,
2018).
External forces are the factors that originate outside the organisation. They have a
global impact and may pose the organisation to question about its essence of existence.
There are several external factors for change. They are:
Demography- Effectively adjusting to demography and diversity plays a crucial
role in the organisation in order to maximise their contribution and commitment
towards their customers. Demography has an indirect impact on tourism
infrastructure. It is a wider concept and comprises not only hotels, restaurants,
and tourist information centre. It is beyond that. It takes into consideration the
quality of several other factors like providing well-connected transportation,
places concerning local tourists’ attraction, residents, swimming pool, and
thermal baths. Verdant Leisure and Skyes holiday cottages are not an exception
to this. The profit margin of these organisations largely depends on the above-
mentioned factors.
Advancement in technology- Technological improvements also plays a crucial
role in the maximisation of the profit margin of holiday resorts. Providing the
latest technology and incorporating the same in the service of the tourists pave
the path for increasing the profit margin of the above-mentioned organisations.

Organisations dealing with holiday planning are well aware of the comfort of the
customers and strive to provide these comforts (Miller and Skinner, 2015).
Market changes- Global change in the tourism industry have brought changes in
the preferences of the customers. The tourist is now well aware of the several
offers and changes that have recently taken place in the tourism industry. The
companies like Verdant Leisure and Skyes holiday cottages has tackled this by
providing the best available resources thereby earning profit from this business
(Namada, 2018).
Social factors- These factors play a crucial role in the successful working of a
medium-sized organisation. The employees’ priorities and needs play an
important role in attracting customers .The satisfaction of the employees of both
the organisation has generated the growth of an organisation.
The above factors show how the external factors have similar ways of tackling
the changing drivers in the organisation. However, the internal factors pave the
way for different ways of dealing with handling the changing situation about the
profit maximisation aspect of the organisations considered.

the leadership behaviour and the behaviour of the teams and individuals.
Internal drivers like resources, dissatisfaction, desire and external drivers like
customers, technology, competitors, affects the leadership behaviour, individual
behaviour and behaviour of the team. The ways in which the following are affected are:
Leadership: The internal factors affect the effective functioning of the leader in an
organisation. Resources like the trust of the advisors, ample knowledge about failure,
and diversity in the thought process of the team, the role of the think tanks, and advice
from instincts largely determine the role of the leader and his behaviour depends on
this.
The dissatisfaction of the leader also plays an important role in the success and failure
of the organisation. For instance, if the leader is itself dissatisfied with his work life then
the whole management system suffers because in that case, he will not be able to
exercise his leadership quality to the optimum level.
Desire to develop new ideas of leading the team, developing ideas for maximisation of
profit is also an important criterion for the successful operation of an organisation.
Hence, the desire to always research and discover new methods of maximising profit is
an important task of the leader, and the leaders’ behaviour depends on this.
The external factors also have a crucial impact on the leadership of an organisation.
Customers are the key factor of any organisation. The organisation is majorly

concerned with the customers. The relationship between the leader and the customers
hugely influences the profit margin of a company.
Technology affects leadership directly. The leader should be well acquainted with the
developing technology and apply the same in the organisation which would contribute to
its development.
The leader should have the ability to forecast the future attributes of the organisation
and this would not hamper the organisation at the time of crises because he would be
well prepared in advance.
Teams: The internal factors have a huge impact on the successful operation of the
team in an organisation. Resources like teamwork, advice from the leaders, and
communication among team members contribute largely to the profit margin of any
organisation. Dissatisfaction among the team members always paves the way for the
downfall of any organisation. An unsatisfied team can never contribute towards the
growth of an organisation.
Lack of desire on the part of any employee badly affects the growth of any organisation.
The external factors contribute to the successful operation of a team. Relationship
between the customers and the team highly influences the success or failure of any
organisation.
Technology helps to ease the workload of the team in a great way. Files, emails,
contents can be easily transferred hence leads to progress in work.
Competition among the team can help the organisation grow only if the organisation is
healthy or else it will lead to an atmosphere of conflict.
Individuals are subjected to internal and external factors. Resources like infrastructure,
training, motivation, communication affects the performance of an individual in an
organisation.

confusion in the organisation. Hence, efforts like positive work environment, skill
development training should be taken to minimise this gap between the leader and its
subordinate should be encouraged which will contribute to a healthy working
environment (Hayes, 2018).

most of it. Communication should be developed among members. Teamwork should be
well coordinated only then an organisation can outperform other organisations working
in the same field. The teams should always listen and take help from their leader in any
work-related matter (Cascio and Montealegre, 2016).
The team members must have the desire to learn new techniques, which will further
accelerate the growth of the organisation.
The team members should be satisfied with their job profile only then they can positively
contribute to the growth of the business.
The external factors also affect the team. The team should be well behaved with their
customer because the customer is the key factor in any organisation. The business
earns a profit because of the services provided to its customers.

The team members should ensure that healthy competition is maintained between team
members otherwise there will always prevail in an atmosphere of conflict in the
organisation and it will have a negative impact.
The team members should make the utmost use of technology so that they can easily
get away with any pending task.
Individuals- Resources like motivation plays an important role in the part of an
individual. The individual should be self-motivated only then it can contribute positively
towards its team (Sessa, 2015).
The individual should inculcate the love for their job. Job satisfaction acts as an extra
edge in the successful performance of the leader.
The individual should have the desire to learn and incorporate those things in his
workplace.
The external factors affect the doings of the individual. The individual should have a
good posture and attitude while dealing with clients because maximum profit is derived
from him.
It should be aware of all the technological developments and make most of it while
incorporating them in its work. It should always maintain a healthy competition between
its team members. This will give it a boost to perform better.
