IT NETWORKING AND COMMUNICATION
2
Introduction
In this modern era, the use of mobile communication and advanced networking
is growing rapidly and many consumers are using this technology to transfer data or
information from one person to another. The aim of this report is to review the journal
article in the field of advanced networking and communication system and understand
the views of different researchers. Wireless is an advanced communication technology
which is used to share data from one location to another without using any connecting
wires. This report will define the concept of advanced networking and communication
technology and a journal paper will be discussed to improve the effectiveness of the
investigation.

Technology. Kuwait Chapter of the Arabian Journal of Business and Management
Review, 2(9), 42.
Overview and objective of the journal article
The title of journal paper is WIRELESS MOBILE COMMUNICATION - A STUDY OF
4G TECHNOLOGIES which was written by S.B Aknitoye in the year 2013. The main
objective of this investigation is to provide a brief overview of the various aspects of 4G
technology with their features and challenges faced by this technology (Akintoye, 2013).
According to this paper, mobile communication is one of the biggest innovations in the
field of communication that provide a platform to share data from one place to another
without using any wires. Recently information technology produced the 4th generation
of wireless network which is the more effective process as compared to the 3G.
The architecture of paper and proposed methodology
This article is completely based on wireless mobile communication and
especially focuses on the 4th generation technology. Author categorised this article into
main five parts such as mobile communication review, advantages and disadvantages of
4G, the architecture of the 4G network, technologies used in 4G, and challenged faced by
4G. A literature review is conducted by the author to collect the views of other
researchers and reduce the drawbacks of the previous investigation. There are various

kinds of methodologies are used by the investigator, for example, data collection
method, research approach, data analysis process and many more. In which the author
used the secondary research method and relevant data is collected from various
resources such as journal papers, previous research, online websites, books and offline
resources. A qualitative research strategy is used by the researcher to for data collection
process which can help to improve the effectiveness of research. With the help of these
research methodologies and approaches, the author achieved the objective of the
research topic with an effective outcome.
Problem statement
The problem statement of this investigation is to describe the concept of mobile
communication and 4G technology and security challenges faced by this technology. In
this modern generation, many consumers are using the 4G network for communication
because it is more effective and efficient to transfer data files. The investor is needed to
identify the key factors that affect the security of 4G networks and improve their skills
to address the issue of hacking or data breaching. In this article, author involves a
literature review that provides a way to analyse the opinion of other experts. According
to the author mobile system focus on the existing wireless technology that involves
GSM, wireless networks, LAN, Bluetooth and 4G technology. 4G is a mobile
communication network which is used in the wireless network. It is an advanced
version of 3G technology that has the potential to provide around 100 Mb per second
speed with high mobility and efficiency. The main advantage of this technology is that it
is more secure as compared to other communication networks and people can share
data over long distance. In the last few years, the use of 4G technology has increased by
50% because of their benefits like low cost, more effective, improve the performance of
communication and high data speed.
Critique review
In this article, the author describes the architecture of 4G technology with their
advantages and it is observed that 4G technology has the potential to reduce the
communication between transmitter and receiver. The aim of this technology is to
provide a more effective service to their consumers by which people can easily send or
receive any data or information. Due to the low data transfer rate the use of 3G

technology was decreased by 40% after the development of 4G technology. It provides
around 1Gb per second speed in local area network and 100 Mbps speed in wide area
network which is 260 times higher than 3G technique (Hui, & Yeung, 2013). It is a more
scalable approach as compared to other networks that have the ability to control and
handle the high-level communication network and is uses IPv6 network by which
consumer can interconnect numbers of networks at a time. The researcher also
identified that this approach is low power consumption by which people can adopt this
technology and they can easily communicate with others. The author also defined the
architecture of 4G technology in their investigation which is completely based on the
internet protocols version 6 that operates at the transport layer. In which application
layer is used to compose the third party application and websites and network layer
consist of different sub-layers like service layer. A mobility management layer provides
more effective quality and uniform services to their consumers. With the help of this
architecture, readers can easily understand the concept of 4G technology and they can
enhance their knowledge in the field of advanced networking and communication. A
recent study shows that security is one of the biggest issues faced by 4G technology
because consumers use unauthentic networks and servers which are developed by the
hackers (Frattasi, Fathi, Fitzek, Prasad, & Katz, 2006). Lack of security is a common key
factor that increases the issue of hacking and data breaching. If any person uses
authentic servers and adopts the security tools then they can easily address such kinds
of threats and researcher also evaluated the various security challenges faced by 4G
technology and mobile communication. There are various kinds of technologies used in
4G for example, OFDMA, MIMO, IPv6.0 and SDR and smart antennas which are
described in this article with their merits and demerits. OFDMA is one of the advanced
channels that divide the frequency signals into different kinds of sets by which every
consumer can access their networks. MIMO is multiple inputs and multiple outputs that
mean 4G technology has the ability to take multiple inputs at a time and provide
multiple outputs to consumers (Santhi, Srivastava, SenthilKumaran, & Butare, 2013).
Results and analysis
Mobile communication plays a significant role in the field of information
technology and researcher provided an overview of 4G technology and wireless
network. It is founded that 4G is more accurate technology for communication purpose

rather than 3G and a survey is conducted that analysed that in 4 individuals 3 people
are using 4G technology due to its high speed. the main issue with 4G technology is that
it is less secure because users use third party application for communication purpose
and hackers can easily enter into their networks with the help of the 4G network. Such
kind of issues can be reduced by adopting security tools like encryption, encoding,
firewall, antivirus and cryptography technologies.
According to my opinion, the author explained only theoretical information
about mobile communication and 4G and he did not involve any data or statics by which
the reader cannot analysis the drawbacks of 4G. People should ensure that they use only
authentic servers and use storing passwords to improve the security of their personal
information.
