Should we worry about violent video games?
‘A world without violent video games is not a real option on our metaphorical table.
Therefore the more comfortable and knowledgeable we are about such games, the easier it is for
us to make good choices’1- Gaming has become integrated with the modern culture. These are
some of the blockbusters that appear in the living rooms and not in the theatres. Violent video
games like Grand Theft Auto V are a threat to the current society. The violent, sprawling,
cartoonish game visualizes brutal behaviors and portrays roots of major acts of violence among
men in the game. The obsession with the violent video games went so far that an editor of the
Telegraph published an article regarding his friend with the headline of ‘Aaron Alexis:
Washington navy yard gunman obsessed with the violent video games’. Though each and every
individual has their own right of the freedom of action, life, and liberty, it does not necessarily
mean that the young children will be exposed to everything that is out in the market of
entertainment. One of the best measures to control the access towards the violent video games
thus lies in the hands of the parents of the children.

Burnout in Youth Sports
‘Although many victims of burnout do drop out of their sport participation, it is important
to note that all young athletes who discontinue their involvement in sports do not do so as a
result of burnout’2- The concept of burnout lies in the situation of physical, emotional and
psychological withdrawal from the participation of sports due the result of excessive chronic
stress levels. Very little researches have been done till now regarding the possible reasons for
burnout. Various conflicting interest such as the overemphasized completions, competitive
stress, lack of playtime and fun contributes towards the negative factors for high dropout rates.
One of the most significant studies relating to burnouts is the smith’s cognitive-affective model
for the athletic burnouts. The model of tress defines the cognitive appraisal, situational and
physiological responses for future researches on the prevention and treatments of burnouts.
There lies a deep connection between the psychology and the sports participation. Researches
revealed that the attitudes and the behaviors of the sports coaches and the parents are one of the
major sources of stress among the young athletes which need to be modified and improved for
the betterment and reduction in the burn out rates among the young athletes.

More Resource Officers in Schools As Shootings Rise
‘While having an armed officer on hand isn't always enough to stop a school shooting,
research suggests that their presence can be beneficial in a number of ways’3- Recent high school
shootings in the current decade depicts how this horrendous violence takes place despite the
presence of armed police officer in the school. More than 10 people were killed near the school
shooting together with a large number of graduate students in the school. While the suspect was
taken into custody, researches revealed that having a security force in the school premises
minimized and prevents the chances of damage of property, death, and injuries from the
violence. Research furthermore portrays that having an armed officer reduces the requirement
for 911 calls and facilitate the students of the school with their necessary health care and social
services. According to the report by the National Center for Educational Statistics, throughout
the years the schools have relevantly become prepared for dealing with potential gun violence by
enabling restriction towards the access of the strangers to the school premises.
