EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This project report is intended to provide specific computing solution to the John
business which is not growing in line with their expectation due the regular growth of the town.
In fact, Johan is facing lot of key issues regarding its Diamond video rental business. There are
lot of compliant regarding their products and services such as lengthy time, inaccurate data,
customer booking videos and duration of time it takes to a video rental. However, this report
provide a specific solution to overcome overdue and decision making problems for the John by
introducing a new alternative solution that can helps in managing their profit as well as increase
maximum number of customers. For this purpose, the customer has marked to invest a total
amount of $ 30000 along with the couple of month time to design the new device. According to
the IT solution, they have been decided to develop a Cloud technology on the base of database
software that can help in tracking of videos as well as keep customer data up to data on
consistent basis.
Project summary
According to the overall analysis of the current business situation, it has been decided to
organize a new project called as Video Rental system. It is entirely control by J. Smith along
with the project manager S. Goldsmith and J. Vandrine. However, the entire accounting system
is full digital which is managed by popular software. It does not have any new problems
associated with the recording of customer information as well as maintain proper security of the
critical transactions that are done on continuous basis (Haissaguerre and et.al., 2013). The budget
allocated to this new project is amounted to $ 30000. Moreover, it will further assist in saving the
additional time use during the recording of information for this purpose, the staffs are getting
reasonable amount of pay so that they can work effectively.
Project scope
The entire business project required to be based on the digital computing system that can
assist in reducing time those are needed to locate videos as well as maintain accuracy level of the
customer data and evaluate on consistent basis. In fact, the project consists of developing a
central database system that could be taken into account as well as operated from various
locations (Tan and Massoulié, 2012). However, the primary benefits of using the new software
are to record the recent data of and customer history and monitor the progress of their services

through videos. Henceforth, they need to check the overdue as well as reserved network data on
a regular basis. According to the research of the IT solution, it has been seen that this particular
system would assist in reducing most of the customer problems in more effective ways.
The project would begin in operation from 20.01.2011; close date will be 20.03.2011 with
the total investments of not more than $ 30000.
Project objective
According to the new project plan, it has been seen that John need to implement certain
activity that can assist in developing Video Rental system on the base of Database software. It
would further consist of certain objectives such as:
To control the losses faced by the John since last couple of months
To install an effective network server along with the establishing local network assistance
To create direct connection with the customer information and video database
To develop a query and report system that can help to manage their regular overdue,
client report and slow moving of the video report
To manage the decision those are affecting the future direction and marketing strategy on
the card files
Provide full support to the advance developed system to control the errors.
Constraints and assumption for the new system
The major benefits of using this new system is to install on the current hardware which is not
required continuous upgrading. The results of this will be more accurate that could avoid work
stoppage in the future.
In accordance to the network server as well as the database system will required to be included
with the total cost of $ 6000.
For this purpose, the IT solution will need a total of 2 month time to develop and test the
new software system.

Analysis of alternative scenario
In order to provide a new digital database system, it is important to have an alternative
solution that can help in managing the problems effectively. Therefore, cloud technology is one
of the best computer system resources that come-up with a more data storage and computing
power without using any direct active management (Arora, Parashar and Transforming, 2013).
The term is basically taken into account to determine the data centre available to various clients
over the online network. However, in simple term, it is the ability to host a software platform
from a remote location that could easily be accessed by user from anywhere through internet
mode. The scope of cloud computing technology tends to offer various job opportunities in a
wide range of roles those are ranging from IT system as well as support different business
analyst in the areas of net security.
Advantage: The cloud technology tends to support environmental proactively, empower
virtual services instead of physical products and hardware as well as improve the energy
efficiency (Xu, 2012).
Disadvantage: The biggest limitation of this technology is that it does not get all the
features at the same time. The control mechanism is weak that could results in system failure
sometime while moving the services to the cloud network. It also carries problems with the low
bandwidth.

There are certain requirements that are not met according to the existing system such as:
The customer’s complaints sometime cannot be control because of the failure in
transferring data over the cloud network.
The planning for analysing the daily and weekly reports cannot get affected.
The chances of modification will be always arises in the future.
According to the current system, this cloud technology will make huge impacts by providing
quick and easy solution to the client information as well as their security purpose. They can
simply manage their video database by posting it on the cloud computing system.
Expected benefits: It would be more efficient for the John business in terms of reducing
cost. It has been seen that John does not need to spend huge amount of money on buying further
equipments for the database security (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu, 2013).
Hardware: The main hardware which is used to control the cloud technology is “HUBNET”. It
consists of multi-sockets, muticore servers, local area network (LAN) and switches or routers
etc.
Software: There are certain key software those are associated with the cloud technology such as
PhoenixNAP, Amazon Web services, Microsoft Azure, Google cloud platform and Adobe.
Costing: Good technology software tends to cost around $ 10000-$ 15000, whereas Cloud-based
server could cost $ 70000-$ 100000.
Feasibility of each solution
Economical: It is generally related with the cost as well as logistical outlook for a
business project. However, it is important to enhance the credibility of a project.
Technical: It simply deals with the material, labor, transportation and other important
resources that are required during the time of installation process.
Operational: It would tends to measure the ongoing proposed system working ability,
whether it is able to solve the problems as well as take advantage of the new
opportunities those are identified during the scope.
Recommendation
From the above report analysis, it has been suggested to the John that the alternative
solution is more effective than the existing one. It would help in managing the client problems as
well as control the errors those are arises during the business transactions. But the only thing is
6

noticeable is the cost of installation of cloud technology little at higher side. However, the
overall performance of the new project will provide more advantage in the coming time.
