Introduction
Due to the growth in the field of information technology, a number of organizations
have started preferring to build a virtual team. The current development in the information
technology has provided the organization to stay in touch with team members who are at
different locations. The main approach to the virtual team management is an effective virtual
team communication, through this the task briefing, scheduling, and implementation is done
easily. But to manage or to build an effective virtual team is not a piece of cake. Thus, the
following assignment will present an argument that is in the utilization of the virtual team
approach in the organization XYZ Company.
Persuasive Argument
According to Bergiel, Bergiel and Blasmeier, the process of virtual team management
involves a number of different features that are against the conventional methods of
teamwork and due to which a number of advantages and disadvantages takes place in an
organization’s functioning (Bergiel, Bergiel and Blasmeier, 2009). But according to the
growing competition between various organizations and to expand the business, there is a
need for developing a virtual team as this helps in the most convenient and effective way.
Due to the utilization of the virtual team, the organizations are forced to upgrade their
innovative approaches and thus is one attribute that the current organization have to work on,
as innovation and creativity are two aspects that are essential to survive in the current
working conditions and virtual team helps an organization to inculcate these aspects in each
and every process that is very beneficial for the organization. Also, the approach of XYZ
Company, to extend to the areas like Shanghai, Bangalore, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, are
different cultural lands and to create a strong market base it is important that the organization
utilizes its innovative and creative approaches to deal with it (Chi, Chang and Tsou, 2012).
The creation of a virtual team will help the organization XYZ Company, with newer

opportunities by entering new lands and this means that the organization’s profits will
increase too.
The biggest advantage of a virtual team is that the organization saves a lot of money
as this approach is cost effective and a have high success rate. The process of setting up a
new office in a new geographical land is huge that includes the cost of office spaces, real
estate, office utilizes, the traveling cost and many more other expenses. But with the
implementation of creating a virtual team, all these expenses are cut down, and the
organization is still able to enter a new geographical zone (Krawczyk-Bryłka, 2016). In the
case of the organization XYZ Company, they are venturing into new areas that include
Bangalore and Shanghai. Both these places have low-cost labor and with the implementation
of the virtual team the organization all have the opportunity to enter into areas where the
operational cost of various business processes is less in comparison to the other places. In this
way, the organization gets a chance to enter into regions where there is less raw material cost,
low operational cost, low wages of the employees from the labor level to the high level, and
many other processes, all helping the organization in cost savings (Zuofa and Ochieng, 2017).
Though, the implementation of the virtual team in the XYZ Company will be an
effective approach, there is some limitation to this new emerging strategy. The biggest
drawback with this approach is its management. The management of a virtual team is tough.
The expansion of different geographical lands means that the different team members are
based in different time zones (Hunsaker and Hunsaker, 2010). Thus, to manage the different
time zones of working hours, creates a lot of confusion and there is an awareness about the
progress of the task. In the case XYZ Company, the organization has chosen four different
places that are located in different time zone. So, if the team member based in Los Angeles
wants to communicate with the team member based in Bangalore then it is a different task
due to the vast gap in the timings. The difference between the timings of both the places is

more than twelve hours and to manage urgent work is the most difficult part (Ocker and
Fjermestad, 2009).
Conclusion
From the complete analysis and the information gained, this can be formulated that
for the organization XYZ Company it would be better if the organization does implement a
virtual team. But, the organization should plan out different ways that will help the
organization in managing the huge time differences in a much better manner.
