important component in the context of Tours and Tourism industries. As tourists or the
visitors are customers for such firms, attracting them in order to attain beneficial results is
essential. The tourists or the visitors can be attracted towards a place by highlighting the
differentiations of that place. These attractions should also state some advantages, which can
ensure the ventures to entertain more customers. Attractions can be man-made as well as
natural, but the main matter of concern to be focused on is that the visitors expectations are
met in respect of the pace they are visiting. This can bring satisfaction on the part of
customers or tourists, which assists in achieving desirable results and earn more economic

TASK 1
1.1 Discuss the overlap of visitor attractions in relation to particular types of attraction
Tourism is a major source of income for the concerned economies. It helps an
economy to develop as the visitors visit the countries (Remoaldo and Marques, 2017). Thus,
it is essential to develop as well as maintain certain attractions of the tourists to visit the
place. There are two particular types of attractions that can be used, viz. Human resources
and Physical resources. A detailed discussion of these two resources with visitor’s attraction
is given here:
Human resources: These are the man-made resources or attractions built in a country
to enhance tourism; for example, Eiffel Tower, which is built in the country to attract
the tourists. In order to attract visitors for the place made by people, the visitors
should be attracted to visit the same, this is nothing but managing visitors attraction.
The tourists should be informed about the beauty of the place as well as the
environment over there.
The place made should be attractive enough and posses some differentiation. In
respect of attracting customers or visitors, certain competitive advantages can be offered to
them. The attraction strategy can be assisted by the festivals that are being celebrated (Saeed
and Ali, 2017). The visitors can be attracted towards the significance of a particular festival
that is being celebrated and visit that place, thus, ensuring tourism for the concerned country.

Physical resources: The natural beauties or factors of a particular place are included
in this category. People are more attracted towards the natural fact of a concerned
thing or place. Introducing or informing the visitors regarding natural beauties of a
place can attract the visitors to visit the same (Akhter, 2017). These natural resources
can be some historical facts regarding the place to visit. Some people are attached
towards the historical significance of a monument or sculpture or anything like this,
which ensures visitors attraction.
Other than places with historical significance, the places having mythological beliefs
can also attract the visitors (Matthews and Marsh, 2018). A beautiful location with peaceful
environment is the biggest attraction for the tourists. Such places provide a natural
environment with no stress which creates a positive impact on the minds of visitors.

The attraction management of visitors, not only attracts the international tourists, but
also, the local visitors as well.

3

resulting in motivation is studied in respect of Maslow's theory of need hierarchy (Uzun and
Gilbertson, 2017). A detailed study of the same is presented as below: Physiological needs: The physiological needs in the context visitors refers to their
needs regarding food as well as beverages. A person needs to fulfill his requirements
related to this, in order to survive. Also, individuals or visitors travel to taste the food
specialties of different countries. A proper food offerings attract the tourist to visit

well as visitors for the concerned economy.
Self actualization: People visit a particular place in order to get rid of their stressful
lives for some days. As a thought of this, they visit places in search of happiness.
Providing them with these needs refers to providing a beautiful as well as stress free
and peace oriented environment to tourists.
An achievement or fulfillment of these needs motivate the visitors to visit a place and
enjoy their free time over there. The first two mentioned here are the utmost needs that are to
be considered, i.e needs related to food as well as beverages and related to accommodation.
These are important as they include the necessities of lives. There are various push as well as
pull factors that are widely used in tourism (McKercher and Koh, 2017). The inner instinct of
traveling or visiting a place, derives from the inner person which is a push factor, whereas,
the external influences offered are the pull factors.
The motives regarding traveling or visiting a place are highly affected by the above
mentioned needs. Often, visitors are not attracted by fulfillment of one or two needs. The
behavior as well as nature of the visitors highly affect their level of motivation to travel. The

But, it can also result in the shortage of goods as well as services in domestic
economy, i.e. for the own people of the country. Taxes: Revenue of the concerned government increases due to tourism, as various
duties are levied on their departures in a country. But, more tourists place implies low

attractions provided.
2.3 Analyses the effect of different theories of tourist motivation on the management of
visitor attractions
As discussed earlier, om order to manage tourism, Maslow's need hierarchy theory
can be used or applied. A detailed analysis of the same was given over there. The effect of
this theory on management of tourists attraction is given here: Physiological needs: Meeting the physiological requirement of visitors refers to
fulfillment of their needs regarding food as well as beverages. These are the basic
requirements of every individual in the world (Ivanova and Light, 2017). Fulfillment
of those, may result in providing beneficial results by effectively managing the
tourists and their attraction matters. Safety needs: along with the physiological needs, these needs are also included in
basic needs' category as they are regarding the accommodation facilities provided.
Availing these needs to the visitors may attract tourism to the country, as when an
individual undertakes planning of a visit to certain places, the basic concern of that
individual is for his food as well as living. Social needs: These needs are regarding the self esteem needs of the visitors, i.e.

country as well as the people here in the minds of the visitors. Fulfilling this need can
assure great attraction for the visitors, thus, assisting in visitors attraction
management.
Apart from these needs, the visitors may also have certain requirement regarding their
visit which may include the environmental as well as natural factor. Some people travel in
order to get expose to the nature, attaining this needs may also lead to managing the visitors
and their attraction.

Although, attracting tourists is an essential driver for the growth as well as
development of a country, there are certain issues or challenges that are being faced in order
to attract visitors for tourism in a country. The process of attracting tourists deals with

historical monuments, parks, festivals, etc. whereas, motivations include advertisements,
better deals offered at hotels and restaurants, etc. Some challenges faced by the tourists'
attraction managers in UK to enhance tourism are stated as under:
The visitors, nowadays, require better as well as new attractive places to visit for their
tour or travel. This has become a major issue or challenge for the country to develop
more attractive places and environment for attracting visitors.

The Maslow's theory of need prescribed requirements regarding self actualization
needs as well as social needs. As per these needs, the host country should treat its
visitors with utmost care as well as respect. This may become challenging for that
country.

area of concern in the management of tourism attraction (Jensen and Uysal, 2017).
These designing requires a lot of creativity as well as high order thinking on the part
of the concerned managers and hence, making it complex and difficult.
As customer satisfaction is the basic or main object of an organization and the
managers there on, similarly, visitors attraction is related to their satisfaction. This
satisfaction on the part of visitors is not an easy task to be achieved by the managers
of tourists attraction, as needs and preferences of tourists differs from person to
person.
Promoting is the basic or most common tool used by the managers to attract potential
visitors. Adopting the latest attractive promotion techniques may complex the job of
the managers and hence, hinder the process of managing visitors' attraction.

tourism and attraction of visitors in a country. Dealing with the same requires or challenges

attraction management depart need to adopt certain effective as well as efficient methods or
tools or strategies. Adopting and following effective strategy in the respect of same generates
benefiting results, i.e. attraction of more visitors for tourism. Some basic strategies that can
assist attraction manager in effective decision making regarding tourism are stated below:
In order to serve more and more visitors, there should be availability of space for

accordance with demand of those facilities to ensure hassle free management. This

To maintain the balance between demand and supply, supply acts as a passive
component whereas demand acts as an active component, which states that supply
needs to adjust itself according to the demand of tourism. In order to undertake the
required supply, there should be the availability as well as capability of resources
within the country. Managing these resources prospers greater responsibilities on the
part of visitors attraction managers.
As discussed earlier, attracting more visitors has its positive and negative impacts as
well. The manager should undertake certain provisions or procedures in order to
reduce the harmful effects of the tourism attraction management on the various
sections of society.
There are certain tourists places which requires protection against some area over that
place. In order to ensure the same, the manager may impose certain strict restrictions
on the same.
Along with these basic strategies, the manger can undertake certain more tools or
methods to mange the high level issues generated such as, modification regarding visiting
timings of a particular place, imposing certain restriction like ban of camera or damaging ban
or something like this. All these together can lead to control the negative impacts that the
tourism can have in a concerned country and ensure effective visitors' attraction management

Sustainability in tourism: This is the practice which is been followed by many tourist
who are visiting places on very frequent or regular basis and their aim will be making
and putting only positive impact over that place (Akhter, 2017). All the activities
which they are supposed to do will be putting positive impact that on environment,
economy or society. The management practices that have been adopted in order to
manage tourism in an economy deals with sustainability. There are at present times
two of the consideration which is fossils fuels and tourism effect on change in
climate. The impact would be depending upon matters like that of economy, visitor
expectations and social.
Economic- this is the major impact which would be there on visiting place as with the
help of tourism government that of national, regional or international is gaining very
huge profits and revenue. Visitors management strategies lead to an economic impact
on the country, as management ensures effective tourism, which further enhances

government of all nations are promoting their tourist place so that they could be able

Visitors expectations- this is also important and basic factor which is promoting
sustainability within context of tourism. Person who is visiting a particular place will
be visiting it with a specific aim and objectives for visiting which need to be fulfil. All
the negative impact of place or destination would be attracting negative review and
then lack of business from that place.
