Introduction
The conduction of a successful international business is associated with extensive
management of the same. The aim of this study lies in the analysis of the potential
impact on the social, economic and environmental segment of Bolivia by the British
Telecom giant Vodafone Plc. For effective conduction of the research proposal, a
combination of 7Ps would be taken into consideration. The first three Ps constitute
an introductory approach to the research coupled with production of a timeline as
well as work breakdown structure. The next three Ps would be associated with the
development of quantitative and qualitative data along with its analysis and
recommendations. However, the last segment would be critical reflection on the
value of the research that has been undertaken.
Brief about the organization and host nation
Vodafone Plc is a British conglomerate that operates in the telecommunication
segment. Currently the group has an operating income of 4.299 billion GBP.
However, the organization has been recently formed post the merger with the
predecessor of Racal Telecom (Vodafone.com, 2019). Major services associated
with the telecom giant include mixed and mobile connections, broadband and digital
television connection including IPTV.
One of the nations in which the telecommunication giant could expand would be
Bolivia. This would be because; the nation has only three telecommunication
organizations therefore, entering into such market will be beneficial for the company
(Prnewswire.com, 2019).
LO 1 (P1, P2, P3)
In this segment, the aims and objectives of the study would be discussed. A tetra
segmented approach that would include a project management plan along with a
gnat chart. This Gantt chart would be based on the research segments and the
potential tenure that would be taken into consideration for the same.
A project is defined as a particular task that is required to be completed within a
particular deadline while meeting all the specifications so provided or developed.
However, project management would be defined as the methodologies undertaken
for the completion of the mentioned task (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016). This
would additionally include the management of the time taken including all the
resources used for the completion of the project in an effective and efficient manner.
The title of the project would include the following:
Evaluation of the impact of the Vodafone Plc on the society, economy and
environment of Bolivia
It is mentioned above, that the scope of this study lies in the analysis of the impact
that Vodafone has been projecting in segments of Bolivian economy, on its
environment coupled with impact on the social aspect of the nation. Through the
conduction of the project, two results would be achieved. This includes the
integration of the primary data collection and its analysis in understanding the impact
of the organization on the host nation.
The product scope associated with the study includes the overall report that would
be segmented into four sections to critically analyze the impact on the host nation.
However, there would be three boundaries, which would not be included in the
report. First, though Bolivia is an emerging market for the organization, a large-scale
data collection would not be taken into consideration. This would be because small-
scale research would enable extensive use of relation and mapping among the
multiple primary data gathered.

Second, future scope of the impact would be taken into consideration. This would be
because of the requirement of the research that concentrated on the existing market
and the current impact on mentioned domains. Third, in the segment of the research
timeline, a critical path would not be taken into consideration. This would be because
no step could be omitted, as the potential Gantt chart would be associated with
research timeline and not any particular production or marketing operation.
The usefulness of starting the mentioned project would be the identification of the
type of impact that international telecommunication company has on a nation like
Bolivia relative to the no market share of the organization. Similarly, in the segment
of project constrains, a total of 102 days would be taken for the completion of the
project. However, currently the team has only 3000 GBP for the conduction of the
research. Overall, it could be mentioned that the scope includes the identification of
attributes that affect the social, environmental and economic aspect of Bolivia by
Vodafone. Similarly, the quality of the project would be moderately high based on
primary data collection.
Development for aim and objectives
Objectives associated with the research would include the following:
To evaluate the social, economic and environmental impact in Bolivia by
Vodafone Plc
To conduct a primary research based on quantitative and qualitative approach
to identify the nature of response to the questions
To identify recommendations regarding the impact in the three segments
To understand the effect of globalization on segmental impact in Bolivia as
viewed by the employees of the organization
Development of project management plan
The organizational structure associated with the project would be a functional
structure. This would be because, for the conduction of the project, exclusive duties
would be provided to the team members. Hence, a functional structure would enable
the reduction in the interference among the team members associated with the
research.
For the conduction of the research, a three segment of resources would be taken
into consideration. This includes the normal stationeries for the conduction of the
interviews as well as the research as well as digital resource for the collection of
primary data. Additionally financial resources would be taken into consideration in
the segment of the analysis of the economic impact. This would be mostly from the
annual report of the organization.
The costs for the running of the project would include 5000 GBP. The cost control
techniques associated with the project includes the cost breakdown structure. This
would be because; the breakdown structure would enable the development of the
research in the segment of effective conduction of research.

Post the development of the WBS and the Gantt chart, four segments could be taken
into consideration for potential critical analysis of the project management plan.
In the first, segment, the current project could be planned faster in the event that the
management provides a specific target area for the conduction of the research. In
the second segment, more stakeholders could get involved in the planning of the
project with two ways. First, more team members could be provided by the
management for the conduction of the research. Second, in the segment of the
sample size, more managers could be persuaded to share their valuable inputs in
weekly meetings. Reduction in the expenditure could be executed by reducing the
cost of quality and team management drastically. However, the project would not be
required to be redesigned as the modules have been designed with consent from all
the team members.
It could be deduced that the aims and objective has been developed based on the
potential entry of the organization in the Bolivian market.

LO2 (P4)
Introduction
In this task, methods for collecting quantitative and qualitative data will be analysed
in an appropriate manner. Sample size for this research will be mentioned along with
designing the questionnaire. The reason for selecting employees and managers of
Vodafone plc will also be explained in this task in an effective manner.
Qualitative data collection
Two methods for gathering qualitative data
As per the viewpoint of Lilja and Fridell (2018), ethnographic approach is used in a
broad area and various types of practitioners are found out in the research. In this
context, ethnographers record their observation and use it in time of conducting the
research. Therefore, it can be deduced that in ethnographic approach, participants
are also able to play the role of researcher.
On the other hand, interviewing method is there for gathering qualitative data in an
efficient way. In this context, researcher selects managers of the specific
organisation related to their research topic and gathers their opinion for drawing
conclusion of the research (Flick, 2017). It helps to get proper outcome related to the
research.
Selection of technique
In order to understand social, environmental and economic impact on Vodafone in
Bolivia, interview method is used. It helps the researcher to get view of Vodafone’s
managers about their business environment if they expand in Bolivia.
Advantages and disadvantages of using interviewing
Pros of interviewing technique
● Participants can express their view properly as open-ended questions are
asked
● Relationship development and in depth analysis
● Time saving and sufficient information can be gathered (Rosenberg et al.,
2018)
Cons of interviewing technique
● Lack of attention of interviewee
● Inefficiency of interviewer, which can de-motivate the interviewee (King et al.,
2018)
Sample size and questions
In this research, 2 managers of Vodafone plc have been selected for arranging the
interview related to their business environment if they expand in Bolivia.
The questions, which have been asked to the managers, are followed by-
1. What is your viewpoint about the business status in Bolivia? Does
globalisation influence the business environment of Bolivia? If yes, please
explain
2. Please recommend different ideas for improving contribution of the company
on economic, social and environmental effects on Bolivia. Vodafone enters in
market
Quantitative data collection
Two methods for gathering quantitative data
In the opinion of Brace (2018), survey questionnaire is one of the methods in time
of gathering quantitative data for the research. In this context, many close-ended
questions are set in a questionnaire. It is supplied to the participants so that they can
fill the form according to the questions.

On the other hand, structured observation method can be followed where;
researchers do not involve participants directly in the research. However, they
observe the work of their participants and collect data as per requirement.
Method selection
In this research, survey questionnaire has been selected for gathering effective
data related to the business impact, if Vodafone enters in market of Bolivia.
Advantages and disadvantages of using questionnaire technique
Pros of using questionnaire technique
● Easy way of analysis
● Developing questionnaire is not an expensive process
● Comparative analysis (King et al., 2018)
Cons of using questionnaire technique
● Difficulties for obtaining enough number of responses
● Dishonest answer can lead to the ineffective research outcome
Hard to express opinion as close-ended questions are there (Patten, 2016)
Sample size and justification
The employees of Vodafone in UK are the participants of this research as this
company wants to take entree in the country of Bolivia. In this research,
questionnaire has been given to all employees through email.
Though, questionnaire has been provided to all employees of Vodafone in UK, 50
members participate in this research.
Questionnaire [Refer to appendix 1]
Evaluation of validity and accuracy of method
In time of conducting interview, facial expression and body language of managers
can be examined. It helps to understand whether he/she provides proper information
or not. In case of survey, validity can be measured by analysing response rate of the
answer under specific question. Moreover, Data Protection Act 1998 has been
followed to maintain confidentiality of the data (Legislation.gov.uk, 2018).
Conclusion
The entire task has mentioned about the research method based on which research

P5 Analysis of data
Introduction
In this task, data will be collected and analysis will be conducted. In addition to this,
proper technique such as survey and interview will be used so that effective outcome
can be extracted from this research.
Qualitative data analysis
Explanation of two methods
Constant comparison helps to analyse the present finding with the existing
theoretical concept related to the topic (Smith and McKeever, 2015). It assists to find
out changes from the present research, which is not addressed in the existing
theoretical concept.
On the other hand, thematic analysis is also a better approach where themes are
set and according to which, information is taken from eminent journal and newspaper
articles (Vaismoradi et al., 2016). Thus, concept is developed related to research
topic in an appropriate manner.
Technique selection
In order to conduct this research, constant comparison technique is selected as
opinion of managers can be compared with the basic theoretical concept of
globalisation. It can help Vodafone to analyse the impact if they enter in market of
Bolivia.
Advantages and disadvantages of constant comparison
Advantages of constant comparison
● Clear analysis of research
● Developing knowledge on practical and theoretical field (Brace, 2018)
Disadvantages of constant comparison
● Updated concept cannot be used in time of conducting research
● Wrong interpretation in noticed (Brace, 2018)

From the viewpoint of managers, it is found out that globalisation brings changes in
the business status. Using advanced technology, other organisations such as Telstra
develop their position in market. Therefore, huge competition is monitored and
Vodafone tries to use strong network to compete with existing rivals. On the other
hand, manager 2 mentioned that 5g network is harmful for human bodies and for
birds. Therefore, green technology needs to be used for enhancing environmental
sustainability in work.
