INTRODUCTION
In recent time, the trend of globalization has been considered as the most emerging aspects
because it has enhanced the business functioning of the organizations at a significant level.
A study has been conducted which would be helpful in availing substantial understanding
regarding the role of globalization in the business operations of Vodafone. It has been
evident that Vodafone is a telecom giant in the world and has been carrying their operations
since 1991 (Vodafone Group Plc., 2019). The introduction of globalization in the business of
Vodafone could be perceived through different aspects. The study would help in gaining
significant insight into the impact of globalization effectively.
TITLE – Assess the Impact of Globalization in the Business Operations of Vodafone
RESEARCH AIM
The key aim of the research study is to assess the Impact of Globalization on the Business
Operations of Vodafone.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
The aim of the research study has been segmented into three objectives which would be
helpful in accomplishing the required outcome effectively. The objectives are represented
below:
 Assess the effectiveness of globalization on the business operations of Vodafone
 Assess the positive and negative outcomes of globalization on the business
operations of Vodafone
 Assess the development and growth of Vodafone due to globalization.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
The research aim and objectives of the study would be accomplished effectively through the
utilization of the research questions. There are certain research questions which have been
mentioned below:

 Did the market reach of Vodafone has been increased due to the application of
globalization?
 What is the major benefit which has been availed by Vodafone through the
application of globalization?
 At what level, the revenue and profitability of Vodafone have been influenced by
globalization?
RATIONALE
It has been evident that the impact of globalization has been potent on the micro, small,
medium and large organizations. In addition to this, there are different attributes of
globalization which have been gaining effectiveness in the businesses of the organizations.
The key attribute of globalization for the organization is that it has paved a path for the
future opportunity to the organizations so that they could avail required benefit in the
business. A case study of Vodafone has been selected for the study so that the impact of
globalization on business operations could be adequately assessed and evaluated. Vodafone
has been the key telecom company in the UK region and they have expanded their business
operations in different segmented of the world which reflects the implications of
globalization effectively.
There are different areas whose knowledge is required to attain and the study would be
helpful in availing the required knowledge so that aim and objectives could be accomplished
effectively. Globalization is considered the most growing trend in the business industry and
it plays a major role in the success of the organization (Ricci, 2018). Moreover, the insights
regarding the globalization through the case study of Vodafone would be helpful at the huge
level in gaining substantial information and knowledge effectively.

LITERATURE REVIEW
The role of the literature review has been potent in the research study due to several
reasons. The key reason for the application of literature review is that it helps in evaluating
the required knowledge and building foundation for the research study effectively. In this
research study, the literature review is conducted for gaining significant knowledge of
globalization and its impact on the business operations of the organizations. There are
several authors who have conducted a similar study and their study would be scrutinized for
gaining the foundational knowledge effectively. In addition to this, the research questions of
the study would be effectively answered due to the application of the literature review. The
articles and journals which have been utilized in the literature review are scrutinized below:
Gleeson (2019) has conducted a study which has been helpful in gaining significant
knowledge regarding the globalization effect on the business approach of the organization.
The study has been helpful in gaining significant understanding regarding the role of
globalization in the economy of the world. It is essential for the organizations that they
assess the influence of globalization in their global trade effectively and further develop
suitable strategies for betterment. The main perspective of globalization is that it helps in
enhancing the internationalization of the national economies at a significant level. There are
significant benefits which could be availed by the organizations through the application of
the globalization in their operations. The major benefit of globalization could be adequately
perceived in the automobile sector where the import and export of the raw materials and
automobiles have been carried at a significant level.
The role of globalization has been significant in the development and growth of small
businesses. It has been evident that the small business has attained a potent opportunity
through globalization in their business operations and functioning. The business
development has been carried at a significant level for small businesses. In addition to this,
there are certain challenges which are also faced by small businesses due to globalization
(Lorange et al., 2018). The challenges are related to political factors, stringent international
laws, difficulties in market diversification, and complexities in isolation. It is essential for the
businesses that they adequately manage the challenges for utilizing the benefit of
globalization.

A study has been carried by Pologeorgis (2017) which has been focusing on assessing the
effect of globalization on the developed countries. The study primarily focuses on the
phenomenon of globalization which has initiated from the humans as they settle into
different areas of the world which have been modified with time. The key role has been
played by technology in the advancement of the globalization. The terms globalization
refers to the process which is based on the international strategies whose prime focus is on
expanding the business operations at the worldwide level and it was further improvised
through the application of effective communication. The key focus of globalization is on
assisting the organization in gaining competitive position in the business under low
operating costs. In addition to this, the approach has been helpful for the organization in
utilizing their resources in an optimal manner for the diversification of the business.
It has been evaluated that the role of globalization has been vital in the diversification of the
business. It effectively provides strength to the business and also assisted in managing the
risk factors so that significant benefit could be availed by the organization (Kolk et al., 2018).
The developed countries possess a huge opportunity for economic development as it the
globalization lead to huge investment in the country which assists in the GDP and human
development index.
Erixon (2018) has conducted a study which helps in understanding the economic benefits
which are availed by the businesses and consumers due to globalization. There are different
segments in the world which have perceived the influence of globalization at a certain level.
The major benefit of globalization has been observed in the western economy as the
globalization has boosted the output to a huge extent. The organizations have effectively
improvised their specialization as the intensity of R&D along with innovation and capital has
been observed in their output. Also, the trade sector has experienced immense growth in
terms of people as employment opportunities have been growing. In addition to this, the
household income has been increased due to the globalization. The inflation rates have
been reduced which has benefited the consumers at a significant level. Also, the wages have
been increased due to the decline in the consumption cost.
Moreover, there are several opportunities which have been available for the people and
economies due to globalization. There are different areas which have been developed due

to globalization in which new technology has a certain role as it helps in building economies
greener and more productive (Prashantham et al., 2018). It could be stated from the study
that there are different areas which have availed the benefit of globalization and the
business organizations availed the maximum benefit as it improvises their operations at a
huge level.

METHODOLOGY
The methodology is often known as research methodology and they possess a substantial
role in the research study. The major benefit of using research methodology is that it helps
in acquiring the required data so that the research study could be conducted and
accomplish the desired outcome suitably. The data for the research study could be collected
in form of primary and secondary data. The utilization of both primary and secondary data
has been helpful in availing the theoretical and practical data which ensure the viability of
the study. Moreover, there are two key approaches which have been helpful in collecting
the primary and secondary data for the study such as qualitative and quantitative research
methodology.
Qualitative Research Methodology
Initially, the qualitative research methodology would be applied in the research study so
that the theoretical knowledge could be availed. The major benefit of availing the
theoretical knowledge is that it leads to the potent foundation of the research study.
Moreover, the data which is collected through the qualitative research methodology is
known as secondary data because the data which is availed has been given by other
sources. The major method through which the secondary data could be collected in the
research study is a literature review (Neuman, 2013). There are several authors who have
conducted a similar study in form of articles, journals, and documents which would be
assessed for availing the theoretical knowledge effectively.
Quantitative Research Methodology
When the qualitative research methodology is applied then the qualitative research
methodology would be applied. The key reason for applying the qualitative research
methodology is that it helps in availing the primary data for the research study. The primary
data is based on the opinion, perspective, and behaviour of the respondents who participate
in the research study through the application of suitable qualitative research methodology
(Neuman, 2013). There are various qualitative research methodology approaches such as
survey, observation, interview, etc. The most suitable qualitative research methodology
approach for the research study is surveying as it has been helpful in availing significant

knowledge and information regarding the research study through the opinion and
perspective of the respondents.
In this research study, the survey approach would be applied through the help of a
questionnaire. The questionnaire involves both open and close-ended questions which are
around 10 in number that is based on the research study. It would be helpful in availing the
required data for the study so that aim and objectives could be accomplished effectively.
The respondents who would be participating in the survey would be selected through the
application of the random sampling method. Initially, the consent form would be provided
to 250 respondents and it is expected that around 100 respondents would revert back.
Then, the questionnaire would be provided to 100 respondents where they would be
providing their responses effectively. The mode of sharing the consent form and
questionnaire is email as it is considered the most comfortable communication mode.
Further, the data which have been availed through the questionnaire would be scrutinized
so that the outcome for the study could be attained.

TIMELINE
The time incurred in conducting the research study is of eighteen weeks. The research study
is based on various activities that would be assisting in availing the required aim and
objectives effectively. It has been evaluated that most of the time would be spent in the
research study for collection of the data. The approach which has been applied for the
collection of data is a literature review and survey. When the data for the research study is
collected then it is analysed critically so that the required knowledge and information could
be availed which would be helpful in meeting the desired outcome. The time duration for
collecting the data through the qualitative and quantitative research methodology would be
12 weeks while the analysis and evaluation of the data would require 4 weeks. Moreover,
the rest of the time would be incurred in idea generation, scheduling, and attaining the
conclusion and recommendation for the research.
