INTRODUCTION
Personal leadership is define as the power as well as tendency to clear thinking in order to
establish a particular direction and goal in life (Aggarwal and Goodell, 2014). It also includes
courage, choice, as well as commitment to move on a path by taking commitment and
determined action in order to accomplish goals. This report is based on Vodafone company
which is a public limited company in telecommunication industry. Along with this, its
headquarter is located in London, Newbury, Berkshire and England. This company server their
customers across the globe and it was founded by Ernest Harrison and Gerry Whent in 1991. in
addition to this, respective company has approx 98000 employees in its organisation who deal
with their customers in order to provide them best facilities. This report is based on leadership
and management skills that are adopted in order to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
Along with this, with the help of PDP plan, personal skills are evaluated which a company
require in their employees.
TASK 1
Impact of organisational objectives, values and culture on the leadership and management role
Organisational objectives, values as well culture have a great impact on leadership and
management role because they play an important role in achieving organisational goals and
objectives (Apostu, 2013). The influence of leadership and management role is described below:
Leadership Role:
Motivation to employees: The main role of a leader is to their workers happy and
satisfied. This keeps them motivated and their put more efforts to achieve goals and
objective of a company. In respect of Vodafone company, leaders of this firm, indulge
their employee in decision making which force their employees to come out of their
comfort zone. Along with this, by sharing views and opinions employees will feel
motivated as well as they will also build confidence in them. This will create strong bond
between leader and staff.
Strategy: Another role of a leader to make effective strategy that will benefit
organisation to achieve their targets. In context of Vodafone, leaders of respective
organisation plan effective strategy which will help workers to communicate with their

customers effectively. Along with this, it will also assist company to achieve their targets
within given time period.
Required at all levels: Leaders are an important asset of an organisation and required at
all level of management in order to guide and direct employees to achieve goals of
company (Bush, 2014). As per Vodafone, there are leaders at all levels of management
through which employees can discuss their queries with them. In addition to this, leaders
will be able to determine strength and weakness of employees which will help them in
delegating roles and responsibilities to these workers.
Therefore, role of leader is important for an organisation as well as every company needs
a leader who can guide as well direct their employees the path in order to accomplish firms goals
and objectives.
Management Role:
Recruitment and Selection: The major role of management in an organisation is to hire
talented as well as skilled employees who will contribute their efforts to attain company
objective (Chisholm-Burns, Vaillancourt and Shepherd, 2012). In terms of Vodafone,
management of respective organisation hire those candidates who have good
communication skills so that they can effectively communicate with their customers. In
addition to this, they also recruit such candidates with well skilled and knowledge who
can perform organisation functions as well as day to day operations in proper manner.
Training and Development: Another major role of management is to provide effective
training and development to their new as well existing employees which will enhance
their skills and abilities. In respect of Vodafone, management of company provide their
staff training and development programme which will enhance their personality as well
as will also improve their communication skills.
Effective Communication: Management of any company must has good communication
skills in order to communicate confidently with their respective client. In context of
Vodafone company, management have good communication skills through which they
are able to train their subordinates which will enhance their skills and well as their
abilities.

company, it has hierarchical organisation structure which consists of three levels i.e.
upper, middle and lower level of management. It is the responsibility of manager that any
changes in organisation's policy should be conveyed to their subordinates.

that these two plays an important part in an organisation which help a company to accomplish

Decision making: A leader must make effective decision as per dynamic environment so

Nieberding and Wanek, 2013). In context of Vodafone, company has talented and
capable leaders who can make short term as well as long term goals effectively. Along
with this, leaders of respective organisation adjust themselves as per the situation so that
they can analyse issues properly and formulate decision accordingly.
Conflict management: Every organisation have conflicts between employer and
employee or between two influence which create negative environment in organisation.
In such situation, it the responsibility of a leader to handle conflicts properly keeping in

capable enough in resolving conflicts that arise in organisation and make decision as per

make their assignment productive. Along with this, having creative and innovative leader
motivate employees as well as also build confidence in them.
Hence, from above mentioned points it can be said that leaders must well skilled and
talented who can handle situation that arise in an organisation as well as will also maintain
positive environment in order to retain their capable employees.
Management skills:
Planning: Managers of an organisation should formulate plans and policies frequently so
that external environment such as political, social, economic cannot affect functioning of
a company (Eichinger and Lombardo, 2015). In regards of Vodafone, managers of
respective organisation frame rules and policies of organisation which help in optimum
utilization of resources of time, money or labour.
Problem solving: Managers of a company should be capable enough to solve problems
that arise in an organisation. In context of Vodafone, company has skilled and capable
managers who resolve problems of organisation effectively. This helps in maintaining
positive environment in company. In addition to this, it also enhance effectiveness of
respective organisation.
Delegation:Managers of firm should delegate roles as well as responsibilities to their
staff as per their skills and knowledge so that they can perform their task effectively. In

companies conduct. This is because from such webinars I will learn about the body
language that is used in order present our views and opinions to audience which gives
them inspiration as well as motivation. Along with this, I will start reading English
newspaper such as Times of India, economic times and many more. In order to enhance
my knowledge. In addition to this, to become familiar with business world I will English
novels related to business. Therefore, with the help of such techniques I will be able to
improve my communication skills.

Conflict Management: To overcome the problem of conflict management I will take
into concern opinions as well views of both parties. Along with this, it will focus on the
situation that has occurred as well as also consider behaviour of both individuals. In
addition to this, I will focus on the points which both employees has presented in front of
me and on basis of that I will examine about which point is logical. I will also prepare a
plan related to the conflict which will me in making effective decision which will be
favourable to both employees as well as organisation. Following such procedure will help

communication skills is attending seminars. The reason behind attending seminars is to
develop way of speaking, presenting our views as well as opinions through body
language and many more.
Reading: Another method which I implemented is habit of reading English newspapers
such as Times of India, novels related to business. These sources helps me increasing my
knowledge in various fields.
Online Webinars: The way online webinar will help me in improving my
communication skills is like by attending such webinar I will able to analyse the host the
way they speak, their confidence and many more.
Hence, if I implemented above activities effectively them I will be able to overcome my
weakness of communication within set time period.
Conflict management: In order to overcome issue of conflict management I have implemented
various activities which are as follows:

responsibilities to subordinates through which they can perform their task effective. Along with
this, in order to better understand my subordinates as well as build strong relation for that I will
conduct training and development programmer. In addition to this, I have enhanced my skills
related to conflict management through which if any situation gives rise to conflict I am capable

have evaluated that I have developed my communication skills effectively. Now I can able to
communicate my clients across the globe without any hesitation and with confidence. Along with
this, I also have one to one interaction with my colleagues through I am able to build strong
relation with them which will help me in avoiding conflicts. In addition to this, as I have gained
confidence in my communication I started enjoying seminars, workshops as well as also take
part in group discussion and decision making which bring motivation and keeps me proactive.
Other than this I have also enhanced my delegation skills which prior created problem for me as
well as which also starting giving rise to conflicts. This created negative environment in my
company. But after developing or overcoming my weakness I am effectively delegating
responsibilities to my subordinates as per their skills and knowledge so that they can perform
their task effectively. In case if I faced any kind of problem I conduct training and development
programme which benefit me two ways. Firstly, I am able to understand employees capabilities
as well as their abilities and secondly this helps subordinates to enhance their skills and
knowledge. But due after working hard and putting lot of efforts I am not able to overcome my
weakness of conflict management. This is because due to work load, I am not able to understand
situations of employees as well as do not listen to them carefully. This increases the conflict and
surroundings of organisation gets affected. Along with this, if I able to understand problem but
stuck in middle of making decision. Some or other problem I usually face in conflict
management. Due to this, it affects my performance and organisation is not able to retain their
skilled employees. This results in decreased productiveness as well as effectiveness of
organisation. Enhancing my communication as well as delegation skills effectively but lacking
behind in conflict management bring my morale as well as confidence down due to which I am
not able to perform my task effectively as well as not able to maintain positive environment in
organisation.
