INTRODUCTION
Professional and personal development can be identified as an activity or procedure
which is organised by individuals and organisation in regrades to meet the business challenges.
Fundamentally, it is formed with the improvements or development requirements of individuals
and teams (Professional Development. 2013). It is also known as longer process which is
essential to the business in order to handle workforce skills & knowledge. In the simple word,
personal development is one of the important part which associated with new skills learning
weather professional development is related with achieving of knowledge (American School
Counselor Association, 2012). This report is based on Waitrose which is multinational and
British supermarket chain in United Kingdom. This report will determine regarding how own
learning can enhanced lifelong development. It will also discus responsibility and roles of self
skills which is important for the business success. There are different styles of communication
and time management strategies also analysis in a systematic manner.

1.1 Different approaches of self-managed learning
Self-managed learning: It is also known as own directed learning which is important for
the personal development. Due to this, individual takes sources by its self in order to evaluate
their own needs and requirements without any help of another. In this, individual gets to
understand their learning necessarily (Berk and Meyers, 2015). Apart from this, they can identify
learning goals as well as recognise necessary resources that will be used by people in regrades to
acquire those skills and abilities.
Learning styles: There are certain styles of Honey and Mumford which is important for the
individual in order to increase their basic knowledges and skills. All these are described under

Activist: They are person who learn and get by doing something. It is required for me in order to
acquire into the experience and action as well as trying to learn. Such kind of person atypically
have an wide-open mind.
Theorist: Such kind of person are inherently try to know the theory and model behind the plan of
action. They utilize following models as well as reading some books in the process of learning
(Brackett and et. al., 2011).
Pragmatist: They want and need to understand how to set learning approaches into practices or
training in the world. Such kind of person doesn't like games and other concepts in the
procedures. In this, I experiment with techniques, ideas, theories and take the better time in
regrades to think regarding reality.
Reflector: In this, I learns and acquire different things regarding the new concepts and theories.
Due to this, I find from the out of bounds and gather all necessary information which is
important for me to increase my basic knowledge (Honey and Mumford model, 2017).
Learning approach: There are certain methods of learning which is essential for me in order to
maximise my basic knowledge and skills on particular meter.
Social networking: It is very important and beneficial approach for me because with the use of
these style I increase my basic knowledge (Busse and et. al., 2014). If an individual is not
interested to reading books, comics etc. so they can choose such type of style because in due to
this, they can acquire latest knowledge and information.

Conferences and seminars: It is also very essential and valuable part of the organisation and
individual. In this company can provide different section to the employees and me, so I can
attend this conferences and increase my skills. In company, all workers are also achieving this
opportunity in respect to lean something new which output is increased performance of the
business.
1.2 Various ways to encourage lifelong learning
Learning: It is define as a regular basis process which is significant in an individual life.
It will support me in reaching long term and desired goals in an effective manner. It is also
support them in completing aim as well as achieving personal and profession development.
There are certain ways in which I improve and encourage my lifelong learning (Capuzzi and
Stauffer, 2016). All these are determined under this:
Continuous individual development skills: In this, personal can control themselves in time to
time and evaluate the needs that are required to be completed. Due to this, I will compare with
another who is much skilled and knowledge. It support them in changing themselves in a
systematic and simple way.
Self-managed initiatives: It is also very essential and beneficial approach for me, because in this
I will try to evaluate actual opportunities in the enterprise. This approach is valuable in order to
motivated and encouraged me, so in this I work very hard with the aim of achieving business
success and development effectively.
Health competition: I personally believes that presence of competitions in a firm leads to
enhance the skills individual in effective way. With increase oppositions, I able to compare with
another person as well as in this procedures me evaluate own skills and abilities in a systematic
manner.
1.3 Benefits of self-managed learning to organisations and individuals
Self-managed learning: It is very beneficial and important part of the each and every
person. Such style not hurts and injured anyone because it is essential. All work and activity
which is performed by me in the enterprise with the help of effective learning (Cox and et. al.,
2014). If an individual is well advised than they have very much confidence with compare to
another. It will support in developing performance and personality of a personal. There are
different advantages of the self-managed learning both individuals and organisation are as
