One of the main competitors of Amazon in the present era is Walmart and the biggest advantage
which Walmart holds over Amazon is the presence of economies of the scale. The company also
makes efficient use of its resources which keeps it ahead of its competitors. The operation range
of Walmart is very enormous which is lacking in Amazon. These certain strengths of the
company gives the company the scope to decrease its products process and also provide the
customers with better quality products. The company also is able to decrease the environmental
risk and gather most of the share of the market as compare to its competitors. In some areas
Amazon holds the edge over Walmart which are its huge inventory selection and also the
presence of huge number of third party sellers. These qualities of Amazon are providing the
company with the scope to provide good quality products to its customers at lower price and
gather more customers. In 2017 it was seen that Amazon attracted more customers as compared
to Walmart. Yet after these stats the Omni channel strategy of Walmart put it in the strong
position than Amazon and it was thought the company might be staying ahead of Amazon in the
near future. In the present time it has been seen that Walmart is focusing on cost leadership
strategy which is helping the company to stay ahead of Amazon and make lower cost products to
gain a competitive advantage over Amazon. The business strategy which is being used by
Walmart is taking the company on higher position as compared to Amazon and the company is
trying its level best to make high level plans and make a better stand in the market. Both
Walmart and Amazon are the present leaders in the online retailing markets and they provide
constant competition to each other.
