INTRODUCTION
Global organisation can be defined as an organisation which is present at international
level by adopting their laws or possessing its own legislation (Bradshaw and Howard, 2018). The
present report is based on Walmart case study which operates its business at global level. In this
assignment discussion about diversity at workplace along with the its barriers to achieve greater
diversity is carried out. At the end comparison between three countries is covered.
MAINBODY
Greater diversity at workplace
The term diversity refers to the reality that is created by group of people and or
individuals that belong to the different spectrum, demographics or culture. The company
operates its business with the help of numerous people who belong to different background and
cultures this is term out as greater diversity at workplace. In which the dimension or background
can be race, ethnicity, gender, age, physical ability and so on. In order to provide safety, equal
rights, opportunities, benefits to all employees within firm, the higher authority ensures that they
are following the equality act 2010 (Pedersen, Soda and Stea, 2019). This act mainly introduced
for providing equal treatment to all individuals who are working in an organisation. This law
sates that each and every individual will get fair treatment, equal opportunity, benefits and rights
who are working in an organisation. They will not be discriminated on the basis of gender, race
or culture. Along with it they need to abide all rules, regulation and policies as all these are very
important in order to protect company. The diversity at workplace is acts as an assets for both
company and their employees. It provides several benefits to company as well as it creates
barrier too. The benefits that it provides are it increases the profitability, creativity problem
solving abilities and made stronger governance as all employees possess smoothing different
ideas, experience, perspectives that makes company to create resilient and effective workplace.
In addition to this, in current era, the gender equity is the major issues at corporate world.
There is a gender gap in many of countries. This can be acts the barrier in greater diversity.
Along with it, the lack of technology advancement can become the main barrier in recruitment
process for Walmart. If they will not adopting new innovation into their operation then no body
wants to work for them as well as the time can also be acts as obstacle as the timing in all
countries is different (Gomez and Bernet, 2019). The another factor that can impact or become

obstacle in diversity can be rights or opportunity that is not provided to the women like company
only hires man not women. If the employees of company are not valued and trusted then the
retention rate of company will increase and create a barrier in diversity on the basis of equality.
Employee consultation can acts as another obstacles in diversity as they will be not feel happy
and motivated while working in Walmart as their views are not considered in decision making
process. Resistance to change is may be act as barrier in progression as employees of different
background may not be flexible with the adoption of new technologies or ideas.
Policies that have potential to improve diversity
It is the responsibility of management team to mange its workforce environment by
managing the diversity culture of firm in context Walmart, some of policies is discussed which
have potential to increase the diversity at workplace as it is very essential for them to accomplish
the goal of company within stipulated time.
Hiring policies provides benefits to company in order to hire people on the basis of
quality, knowledge not on the basis of discrimination such as age, gender religion or other
background. Especially in US the federal laws makes illegal to hire people on discrimination
based. Which is not in UK and Africa. So both of these country need to acquire this law so that it
will provides benefits to company in terms of diversity (Page, 2019). Another policies can be
training in which senior authorities will guide and teach their diverse background employees
about the legal implication of diversity at workplace like discrimination and harassment along
with it, this provides benefits in terms of working together which provides benefits to each
individual and company also. But sometime this will not be beneficial for firm or people, when
employees of differ culture people are not communicating with each other in proper way, even
then also when some peoples thinks that they are superior to them and this will behaves as cons
for training in divers environment.
Additionally, equal opportunity policies, in order to achieve objective of company, the
selected firm Walmart needs to offer same benefits and fair treatment to all employees at each
country either at UK, US or Africa. And if it is not opted by management team of company then
workers will not feel motivated and encouraged and that will directly affects their performance.
Occupation Healthy and safety policy, in this the senior authority makes sure to provide safety
and security to each employees who are working in an organisation either that is women or man.
If this will jot happen then people will left the company.

important role in order to accomplish the goal of company within small period of time as it offers
several benefits like to increase the productivity and operational efficiency by adopting
innovation new ideas and creation. As the diversity offers to hire different background people
who have variety of knowledge, experience and innovative idea generation thinking all these will
provides a extreme benefits to company.
