INTRODUCTION
Academic skills is concerned with abilities and strategies that govern learners in their
curriculum to get success (Amini and Samani, 2021). These are beneficial for students for
enhancing their knowledge base and securing good grades in their school or college life. These
includes note-taking, reasoning, technical literacy and many more. These skills inspire learners
in becoming more efficient and getting stable employment to get higher salaries. This project
comprises of varied support and facilities that Waltham International College offer to their
students.
Various sources and facilities that Waltham International College offer to
their students
Waltham International College provides several facilities and courses to their students
(Waltham International College, 2021). They provide academic courses as well as vocational
training to students in order to make them learn efficiently. They also provides flexible learning
hours, evening classes and e-learning methods.
Computer and internet facilities
Waltham International College provides facilities of learning computer and access to
internet to their students. Hi-speed broadband connections are provided to students for accessing
information. Apart from this, Wi-Fi hotspots are provided to students in campus area. Students
can prepare presentations and other related documents on computer as per their convenience.
Students are also provided with expert IT which helps them to learn from professionals.
Library facilities
Waltham International College has its own library which provides numerous literature
books and weekly editions of magazines. It also provides text books on varied subjects. Students
have free access to these books. They can borrow them for certain time limit to use. Students can
access to different local libraries which are a few steps away from college for further reference
(Hosan and Hoglund, 2017).
Teaching facilities
Waltham International College provides a top class teaching facilities to their students.
University hires experienced professionals in offer to provide excellence learning experience to

which include projectors. This practice gives students a real experience and help them to learn in

also helps them to find part time jobs which help them to earn while doing studies in a smooth

students. They provides them appointment with counsellors in order to provide them accomplice.
This practice helps students to share their personal problems with counsellor which helps them to
find and resolve their issues. This further helps in concentrating in their studies. Access to this

Students of Waltham International College are provided with travel discount. University
offers them oyster travel card which provides them 30% discount on their travel intercity.
Students are also provided with TOTUM student discount card which provides discount to
learners on various outlets. This card is provided to UK students carrying a full or part time
course in any university in UK. This facility is provided to the students above the age of 16
years.

their students regarding their academic courses which they are pursuing. University hires a

committee for this in order to solve varied problems of students. These problems are related to
enquiries of academic courses, preferred lectures and experienced professors.
Human rights office
Waltham International College have provided a separate department to solve students
issue of facing discrimination from professors as well as peers in the campus area. Students can
also complain about low grades in this department when they were expecting more marks. Any
discriminated or exploited activity students are facing, they can complain this in department
(Shannon, Scerif and Raver, 2021).

meticulous students. These facility is provided to those students who are unable to pay their

Reflection
Through understanding and accessing all the services and facilities, I gained varied
insights which helped me to enhance my knowledge in understanding them. Several facilities
provided to students by Waltham International College are signifiant in developing them as an
individual. Library resources helped me to get further references apart from my text books which
helps me to enhance my knowledge in a specified subject. With the help of financial aid and
scholarships, I am able to complete my studies and can get better employment in future.
Recommendations
Waltham International College has provided many facilities but these need to be improvised and
modified according to the changing scenario in education sector. They should provide their
students more workshops in order to make them prepare for future employment.

CONCLUSION
From the above portfolio report, it has been concluded that it is significant for universities to
provide a number of facilities to their students for enhancing their knowledge. This knowledge
helps them to mould their life on the basis of acquired knowledge. IT support and career
guidance are crucial for students as it helps them to gain insights in developing their future
avenues.
