Report
AI Summary
This report focuses on the challenges faced by the airline industry in managing Unit Load Devices (ULDs). It highlights the significant losses incurred due to inefficient tracking and management systems. The report explores issues such as imbalances in cargo preferences, aircraft cargo capacity limitations, and challenges in remote area operations. The study proposes a strategic solution centered around implementing automated GPS tracking systems for ULDs. It suggests that airlines should focus on facilitating ULD control and store check messages to improve inventory management. This approach aims to provide timely and accurate information, thereby reducing losses and enhancing the overall efficiency of ULD management within the airline industry. The report references several sources, including studies on cargo types, load efficiency, and airline economics, to support its findings and recommendations.

1WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
As opined by Holloway (2017), airlines industry management system is known to
invest in the sector of tracking their Unit Load Devices through several years. However, they
are recorded to face a considerable loss in the ULD department. The major problem behind
the same is recorded as the imbalances between the preference for originating the choice of
flights from a different region and changing of the preferences while the flight is being
returned. This is because of the type of cargo and even the preferences of the shipper. This
also leads to the stock of the higher level of USD at one region and vice – versa in the other.
The other problems that came into notice was that ability of the aircraft management to carry
the cargo that is influenced because of the prevailing conditions of winds in several areas.
Moreover, the charters leveraged to the remote areas are also considered to be a source of big
trouble for the airline industries. Unloading the cargos in the remote regions leads to collapse
in the ULD's; therefore resulting in its loss or damage.
In this connection, the study tends to suggest a strategic solution to the aircraft
management that the airlines' management system concerned with the logistics department
should significantly focus on tracking the location of ULDs with code details of automated
G.P.S. tracking system. The airline industries should also concentrate on objecting towards
the facilitation of USD control and store check messages that would help in the measurement
of the inventory of the USD and would provide the concerned department of management
with timely and accurate information that would help in reduction of the loss and effective
solution to the problems in managing the USD.
