1. Introduction
The report contains the solutions for the various requirements regarding the warehouse
management system, some of the major requirements for the design of the system is to
understand the benefits and the risks associated with the use of the cloud computing. A detailed
list of all the benefits and risks for the management system project are listed below. The dilemma
of using the appropriate development methodology is also discussed by comparing both of the
methodologies and finding out the best suitable one for the project suggesting the reason for the
same. The report will help in various steps of the project.

2. A review of the strengths and weaknesses of cloud-based solutions,
taking into consideration the environment in which the solution will be
deployed for the proposed system.
Cloud-based solutions:
The new-age solutions for increasing the pace of any system-based process cloud computing is
general nowadays. Various applications like computer networks, on-demand services, storage,
etc. use the cloud for accessing the resources using internet or infrastructure created by some
other provider. The cloud-based solutions help the user by increasing the capacity of storage, the
faster working speed, and all that while keeping the cost low than using the computer
infrastructures like servers inside the office or the workplace (Xue & Xin, 2016).
The cloud computing could be used by using a subscription for them, there are various models
available to choose depending on the requirements of the user for the speed, capacity and
reliability presented by these models as the common facility they offer is the access from
anywhere.
Advantages of cloud computing in the Warehouse Management System:
Suppleness: The major revolution that the cloud computing bought in the computer sector is the
flexibility of accessing the data, applications or any other information from anywhere
irrespective of their workplace. The employees could access the data from the office as well as
from the business trips. It puts the business with gain in a competitive environment.
Cheaper:
The cost spent on the storage of the data on every system working for a particular project was
much higher than using cloud computing solutions. For the places like the warehouses, this could
be a major benefit as the owners and the customers could access the data from anywhere and as
the service is rented from a respective organization the working could be done without
interruption for the breakdown (Rittinghouse & Ransom, 2017).
User-Friendly:
The cloud computing is user-friendly as it’s been designed in recent time which makes it user-
friendly and easy to understand. Also, cloud computing enables the user to make changes as per
the requirements of the user and add some extra features or shortcuts into the system. The
designed interface could be upgraded easily due to the use of the cloud-based computing solution
(Vogelzang, et. al., 2019).

The IT solutions used in the organizations are very costly and hard to upgrade as the data is
secured on every system, this also impacts the whole working and a negative image is formed,
cloud computing enables the user to recover from this problem and helps in upgrading the tools
without the interrupting the whole work. This adds an extra benefit of never stopping website or
the applications even though certain operations might stop while the up-gradation.
Agility:
The competitive environment can only be survived with acquiring agility in the working style
and the management, for example, the customers of the warehouse might require a new facility
provided in the market such as easy documentation, this facility could easily be achieved by
using the cloud-based solutions. As instead of working on the server cloud computing enables
the maintenance of the system periodically. Also, it helps in keeping a backup in case of any
malware or virus attacks on the workplace systems (Vogelzang, et. al., 2019).
The weakness of Cloud-based Solutions
Security of Data:
With all the flexibility, one of the major issues which arise with the use of cloud computing is
the security of the data of the organization as well as the personal. As the various models offer
the subscriptions not just for the organization but also for personal use. The major problem with
the use of cloud computing in the warehouse management system is the stealing of the payment
details of the customer or the owners.
Malware Attack:
The risk of a malware attack on cloud computing is comparatively less but the risk is still there
for the attack. The hackers could gain access to the code of the applications or the website
working on the cloud system. They might change the code to a malware application for taking
down the app by injecting it into the system through some virtual machine. They could also
bypass the login process using a malicious code and try to steal the database and edit it as per
their use (Rittinghouse & Ransom, 2017).
Attack by Authentication
The cloud environment is susceptible to an authentication stealing attack as cloud computing is
vulnerable invalidating the authentication. The hackers can steal the information about the
owners of the shop or the customers and bypass the security page of the application cause most
of the cloud computing sites only use the information about the person for bypassing the login
page. As most of the cloud models use the basic information of the person regarding the
authentication of the user which could be easily gathered by the hackers and then misused (Xue
& Xin, 2016).

3. Compare and contrast the Unified Process (UP) and Scrum. Then
recommend either Unified Process or Scrum you will use for the
proposed system and briefly describe why.
Similarities between the Unified Process & Scrum
The Unified Process and the Scrum are used as a framework for the development of software.
They help in creating a plan for the project while keeping the track of the progress of your work
and helps by providing some ready-made solutions for the common tasks. The common thing
about them is the use of the iterative approach for the development and work by dividing the
whole work into stages. They both give stress on the cross-functionality & collaboration, also it
helps in increasing the self-management quality in the individual or between the team. The basic
requirement they both follows is that the product’s quality should be maintained.
Differences between the Unified Process & Scrum

Scrum Unified Process (U.P.)
The Scrum methodology uses an iterative and
incremental approach to maximize the
predictability and minimize the risk

The approach for the U.P. is to deliver the

taken in the next sprint (Naz, 2016).

system architecture document, test plan,
functional requirements, test scripts, etc.
The framework is commonly used &
recommended for the large, enterprise-level,
long-term projects with medium-to-high
complexity.
This type of framework is most commonly
used for the organizations and quick
enhancements which do not depend on some
deadline (Santos, et. al., 2016).
Every cycle is considered a complete cycle. The formal cycle gets divided within 4 phases
usually, whereas some workflows could be
concurrent.

Unified Process (UP) for the current project:
The warehouse management system is best suitable for the unified process framework as it is the
best match between the two frameworks. The UP enables the team to keep improving the
management system as defined in the policy of the project (Mohd., et. al., 2016). Also, the team
could be self-managed, unlike the SCRUM process. Also, the quality could be ensured by the
owners as they would be the major stakeholders of the system and unless they are assured with
the quality and performance of the management system, the methodology enables the team to
adapt the possible problems and improvise the system as per that problem (Santos, et. al., 2016).
The Unified Process makes various artifacts throughout the process such as vision document, test
plan, etc., these artifacts could be approved by the owners, in a periodical discussion with them
so that, the team could understand their requirements and improvise the system as per their
needs.

4. Conclusion:
The warehouse management system had various requirements which could be performed in
various ways but after listing all the benefits and downfall of the various solutions the following
result could be achieved. The cloud-based computing solutions are the new age necessity which
enables the user to experience the flexibility, agility, easy up-gradation and a lot more, even
though the whole process also comes with some problems like the security of the data, malware
or authentication attack, etc. are the risks with it. Further, the use of the Unified Process is the
most suitable option for the project as this framework provides enough flexibility and various
other requirements.
