Water pollution is one of the most detrimental environmental issues that is prevailing all
around the world and this is issue is aggravating day by day. This essay is going to shed a light
on water pollution and the importance of water pollution control in today’s world.
Water is considered to be polluted when the chemical, physical and biological properties
deteriorate via natural activities and anthropogenic activities (Afroz et al, 2014, p. 63). Water
pollution has negatively impacted animals and humans immensely. This has resulted in humans
having access to limited amount of water which has become a global issue. Halder & Islam
(2015, p. 36) opines, water pollution is jeopardizing the health of people and the animals.
According to research conducted by UN, polluted water kills about 1.5 million people per year
((Mercy For Animals, 2019). Thus to curb this situation water pollution control is necessary.
Governments along with organizations are taking measurable steps to control water pollution like
banning plastic, making strict laws and many more. The World Health Organization has come up
with a handbook that states how to use water to maintain quality (World Health Organization,
2015). Several non-profit organizations are educating people in rural areas about the issues that
they might face because of polluted water and effective measurable steps that can help to save
clean water. Research is being conducted to come up with new and innovative technologies that
will help to purify water to save the planet.
Water pollution control is important to reduce health hazards and to preserve aquatic
animals. With the efforts of the organizations and the government along with the contributions of
the people will help in controlling water pollution and save the earth from this important
environmental issue and help in improving quality of life.
