Essay

I was a Chef at The Waterside Inn which is the longest serving three Michelin-starred
restaurant in the UK that specializes in occasion dining. It is located on the banks of the River
Thames. I had a great working experience in the organization as I was able to enhance my
current skills to their best. In addition to this, after some time I was appointed as a manager for
the establishment which allowed to me attain both personal as well as professional growth. The
overall experience was positive although I did experience some challenges that were related to
communication and understanding the structure of the organization. I was soon able to overcome
these challenges as I was provided effective guidance by my superiors. This allowed me to have
an experience that consisted of both positive and negative aspects. This was crucial for me as it
allowed me to grow as an individual and learn about aspects such as teamwork, problem solving
along with discipline.
The overall experience of working at The Waterside Inn enhanced my abilities in an
optimal manner. Through the experience I was able to learn the importance of team work and
how its helps in enhancing not only the performance on a team but the individual as well.
Furthermore, I was able to develop positive communication skills by interacting within my team.
In addition to this, I was also able to learn various aspect from their experience in life and
understand the need for personal as well as professional development. Moreover, the experience
allows me to become a better problem solver as I was able to overcome several issues that I
encountered during my job at the establishment. This allowed me to ensure I will be able to use
critical thinking in developing unique ways to solve issues. The experience has also helped me to
attain discipline relative to being punctual as well as completing task on time which has
improved my overall productivity and performance.
This experience was vital for me as it is related to my course study of business and
management that I have applied for. The experience has a vital significance as in the further I
want to establish my very own business and the experience will help me take crucial decision
that will ensure I am able to compete in the market. In addition to this, through my experience I
have attained various skills that are necessary for me to ensure that I am able to run my business
in a structured as well as systematic manner. The skills attained during my experience will also
help me in my selected course as they are a crucial element in business and management.
Through the course I will be able to further enhance my current skills as well as possible attain

other skills as well in which I lack. This will ensure that I am able to attain a high level of
performance as well as productivity in order to excel in my selected course and ensure that in
future my business is successful.
