INTRODUCTION
Work-based learning is defined as a strategy and a process that involves real life
experiences and examples for students in which they can utilize their personal, technical and
academic ability in relation to gain appropriate understanding about their future professional life
and career goals (Wall, 2017). Work-based learning also involves series of educational courses
and training programs which integrates the curriculum of an individual of their schools and
universities in the presented workplace. It is an important and essential approach which helps
individuals and students to develop necessary employability skills and abilities along with
creating a positive work experience. The present report is a reflective proforma that is developed
for explaining the exact requirement of personal and professional training and development for
an individual in order to pursue their preferred career role. A plan is also proposed for evaluating
the process for employee motivation.
TASK 1
State your desired future career role and explain what personal and professional training you
require for that future career role.
As a student and for an individual is important to have a strong future career goals for
which personal as well as professional trainings and competencies in order to perform their job
roles with utmost potentials. it is important for an individual to have clear understanding of
different skills and knowledge that are essential for them and for their respective job role to
perform. In the same manner as my desirable occupation goal is to work as the upkeep engineer
at Volkswagen which is an automotive company of United Kingdom. The company is a leading
organisation and has a potential skilled staff which is trained enough to provide the best two
customers and two public on behalf of the organisation and create a competitive position in the
industry. My job role is efficient enough and will help me in improving my employability skills
along with my knowledge in the industry about different aspects of my career in the respective
area (Mumford, 2016).
For getting the job that are certain skills that are confessional as well as personal for
which trainings is required. I have learnt the importance of ongoing learning and have taken this
responsibility in my hand to improve my current skills and knowledge while working at my
workplace. a very important resource that is available to me and will help me is staff manual and

study guide. The handbook will enable me to gain and learn about different systems and
operations of the institution as well as help me in preparing for my interview. There are different
resources through which I can improve my skills such as conducting customer service which will
help me in enhancing my customer service abilities and understanding their needs and
perspectives thoroughly.
One more potential response source is my associates as they will provide me and accurate
opinion according to them in relation to my performance along with those areas that needs
improvement. The fourth resource that proves to be efficient and helpful is I can use the online
website of Volkswagen for having a better understanding of what exactly is the required skill set
and psychological feature for the job role which I am seeking as my career option. Another
resource are professional magazine and relevant websites. These are some different ways and
resources which will assist me in even my possibilities to reach towards my desired job role and
objective (Ferrández-Berrueco, Kekale and Devins, 2016).
I can also take training and development programs externally which will help me in
improving my competencies and proficiencies. My peer group will also so be a helpful party to
take up my mock interviews and provide me with their opinions of how I perform during the
interview and what are the areas where I need development. One major skill set which I need to
develop is working under pressure and emergency situations and also work efficiently within a
team rather than individually. In regards to the same all the methods and resources discussed for
improving the knowledge and skill sets can prove to be helpful in relation to skill development if
used in proper and appropriate manner.

While pursuing the career target of maintenance engineer in Volkswagen I received a
chance to work with the company that was best quality products to customers and the most
attractive and innovative designs. I have been working with the company for quite some time and
there are some observations which are developed during my employment which Volkswagen that

These difficulties are leading to situations such as increasing employee turnover, losing
loyal customer base and losing the competitiveness of the organisation. Over my working period
in Volkswagen till now I have learnt many new skills, developed new competencies and gained
proficiency which can help the organisation introducing and eliminating their problems as well
as myself in improving my personal and professional portfolio. For companies point of view it
will be a huge disaster if Volkswagen fails to address the problems identified and can face
adverse consequences in future (Kis, 2016).
Employee who are not performing well or are showing under performing results should
be treated or dealt with individually in order to identify the reason behind their performances. It
is identified that the organisation is facing problems in regards to poor performances of staff and
poor communication which is causing compromises in overall quality and service provision on
behalf of organisation to the customer by the workforce. Since I am working at Volkswagen, I
have the responsibility to report to my team leader for assisting film in decision making process.
In order to resolve the problems identified above meetings were held in which I took part and
what asked to provide my I productive feedback. According to my suggestion I insisted that the
problem solving and leadership skills needs to be re-evaluated and revised. The result will be
improved leadership skills will help the managers and other team leaders to lead their teams
effectively and efficiently by understanding their problems and addressing them on time rather
than creating demotivation amongst team members.

people who are being affected by it in the company. The second problem which was being faced

behind the same and through their research it was determined that some of the people and
professionals in the organisation did not possesses educate skills that were required for their job
roles and the other getting demotivated due to increased pressure on them.
For addressing the problem of reducing focus of individuals and demotivation in
employees some training and coaching sessions were conducted for helping the personnel’s and

one resource which is used by the management of Volkswagen in order to eliminate the problem
of Under performance of employees and improving their performance standards. For meeting the
agendas of improving communication flow in organisation the management of Volkswagen

system was installed which enable the employees belonging to one department to communicate
well with one another and also the flow of inter departmental communication can also improve
through the system (Jackson, 2018).

communication flow in Volkswagen was creating lack of clarity and according to my
observation these challenges were impacting the overall functioning and performances of the
business which implementing negative influence on competitiveness of the organisation.
Since I have been working with the organisation for quite some time it was recommended
by me to the managers by the employees needs to be evaluated in accordance to their
performances and respective feedbacks needs to be provided to them regarding their performance
on regular basis so that they can make changes in their work practices while carrying out the
assigned tasks. Management was suggested to provide feedback to employees either weekly or in
alternate days (Kokotsaki, Menzies and Wiggins, 2016). Moreover managers and team leaders of
different teams were also suggested to take active participation in improvement practices. Those
respected team leaders and managers were suggested to actively listen to the problems that are
being faced by employees and then worked in order to reduce them for effectively improving
their performance standards. As well as team leaders and managers were suggested to take up
initiatives to coach and train their team members for bringing change in their performances
which will help them in improving their confidence within themselves and trusting the
organisation more.
To improve communication in the company, the suggestive idea was to introduce
effective ways and systems of communication within the organisation in internal and external
basis. The company was suggested that they should provide appropriate opportunities to
employees for sharing their point of views and ideas with the whole team by using the strong and
potential communication channels and flow. The policy reflected here is of opened or their
employees are free to communicate with one another and put forward their thoughts in front of
their colleagues and higher management staff members.
The last problem which was identified was of lacking motivation among the employees
which was leading to reducing their engagement in the organisation. For addressing this issue the
entity was recommended to recognise the efforts of its employees by using different reward and
appraisal techniques. The first method which was suggested to increase employee engagement
was to welcome employees in decision making processes and meetings. small weekly or monthly
goals should be provided to employees and in return appropriate rewards should be assigned for
the best performance. Therefore, these are some recommended methods and resources that

challenges they were facing.
