INTRODUCTION
Work-based learning is determined as an educational technique that provides scholars along
with real life experiences that help in improving employability to offer opportunity to expand
their learning in classroom in context of real world. WBL provide support to scholars in
improving learning that is related to real world. For completing written assignment, Marriott
hotel is taken as an organisation running in hospitality industry in UK. This hotel was founded in
1927 and they focus on managing wider portfolio of hotel and connected to lodging services.
This report provides information regarding plan as well as initiated project, setting target and its
objective. Moreover, they also provide explanation regarding project life cycle and completion of
project in timely manner. Apart from this, the assignment provides description regarding
assessment of experience in workplace by determining theories (Baldwin and Rosier, 2017).

In reference of Marriott hotel, the manager of organisation focuses on initiating project by
determining robotic system for increasing improvement within organisation. And, it is helpful in
increasing success, customer base as well as profit margin in future period of time. The chosen
organisation focuses on using robotics as an innovation that helps in increase improvement in its
facilities. By using robotics, they provide appropriate facility to its user according to their need
during particular phase of time period. In present Covid-19, the individual person focuses on
adopting social distancing in order to free from disease so it is important for organisation to
provide superior quality facility to its user during particular phase of time period. It aids
assistance to organisation in achieving competitive advantage over rivalries in the market.
Set target the target in respect of adopting robotics in Marriott hotel is to provide
appropriate services or facility to its customer in order to fulfil their needs and provide valuable
experience during particular phase of time period. Therefore, the main focus is to set target to
increase growth of organisation and provide support in achieving competitive advantage over
rivalries in the market.
Aims and objective the primary purpose of using Robotics is to increase improvement in
sales, customer base of organisation during particular phase of time period.

The primary objective is to attract user by providing appropriate services to use of robotics
that help in meeting need of user. In addition to this, the aim of project is to offer services as per
need and wants that help in increasing sales & profit margin of company in future period of time.

For administrated, monitor and also evaluated growth of project. The administration team
of Marriott hotel focuses on using project life cycle. PLC is determined as a series of significant
action that help in achieving objectives related to project. It is considered as a structure that
determine phase that helps in converting ideas in reality. There are different dimension of project
which is mentioned in framework of project life cycle. The process related to project life cycle is
to categorise in different parts such as initial step, learning step, execution as well as monitoring
controlling and its closing or finishing stage (Barak and Assal, 2018).
Project initiation this is determined as a primary step of project when company focuses
on proving project must have value and also feasible. This level determined generating a case of
organisation and explains need and want of project and also the focus is on feasibility study that
determines performance of business organisation must be increased within time and in cost. For
instance, in context of Marriott International, they focus on adopting robotics in their facility to
increase improvement in organisation and attract large number of user during particular phase of
time period. Their main purpose is to provide services through robotics to its customers and
provide them services according to their need. In addition to this, in present time due to increase
in covid-19, the individual person emphasize on taking facility by using robotics in comparison
to its human interactions that is beneficial for company in increasing its sales in future period of
time (Hakim, Ritonga and Susanti, 2020).
Project planning is determined as a second step that occurs after project is completed.
This is determined as a deliverable phase in planning project that provides guidance for
execution. The plan of project must determine component connected to implementation of
project that determined cost, resources, risk and many more. In present time, the project
administration team of Marriott hotel can focus on planning regarding cost, time, resources that
is confronted by company during particular phase of time period. For instance, they focus is on
requirement of finance by adopting services provided through robotics and there is a time needed
around 6 months for executing robotics services in its facilities. In addition to this, they can
confront different kind of issue due to alteration in technology, competition and many more.

In this stage, the task required to complete project in timely manner and within scope. In
reference of this, the management team can determine work breakdown structure that divided
project in milestones, actions and many more. The project management team focuses on
generating schedule and also allow task to its member of team. They also adopt Gantt chart in
order to visualise project plan in an appropriate manner. This also provide support in offering
roadmap for performing work and related to project in an appropriate manner and reach to
specific conclusion.
Project execution is determined as a third step in which majority of task happens. It is
determined that the management team focuses on completing activity of project in order to
provide deliverables to its client by satisfying stakeholder in order to determine plan in proper
way. In context of Marriott hotel, the project management team can assign resources in order to
perform work with its team. Therefore, there are different kinds of risk which is arising in order
to complete specific project in timely manner. In this level, the management team assign
resources to its team member according to task so that they execute their responsibilities in

Project monitoring and control this is determined as a phase in which monitoring and
controlling process of project in timely manner. It aids assists in monitoring progress and
implementation of project to make sure that it is depend upon schedule as well as in budget.
Quality control procedure is implemented to provide quality assurance guarantee. In this phase,
the manager of Marriott hotel focuses on monitoring project in which it is implemented if there is
any type of issues that is arises in process of execution and how it is controlled. The primal
issues face according to three different things like time, cost & scope which are determined as a
triple constant. The primary purpose of this phase is to control organisation project to ensure that
they go on right track.
Project closure it is final step of project life cycle. In this phase, the deliverables are
finally presented to its user once it is approved. The resources must be free, documentation is
performed and everything is going to be good. It is the responsibility of project management
team to ensure that transaction occurs in smooth manner.

The procedure of setting objective in basic stage that helps in assessing project stages. The
whole period of time for project was around 8 months. In this period, all activity must be started
and finished to set goal that must be achieved in pre-decided period of time. In this process, there
are different kind of technique that is adopted to assess customer feedback and its satisfaction
level. In addition to this, rate of success of new technology named as robotics is to assess after
finishing period of 8 months that must be setup in basic level. The increase in market share and
its level of satisfaction is determined as a major source that offer idea related to success rate of
technology used within hospitality sector. The whole success is assessed by adopting 360 degree
feedback. There are different kinds of feedback or reviews collect from superiors, peers that are
connected to performance by assessing skill. This approach can assists in assessing performance
along with appropriate objective (Kallick and Zmuda, 2017).
Reflection & evaluation of experiences
It is assess that appropriate setting goal in initial level related to project is useful in assessing
objective that must be achieved in time manner. There is a support of employer during a small
project, the whole duration of time was 8 month and I am focusing on achieving it in timely
manner. In addition to this, there are different kinds of techniques that help in appropriately
planning of activity that must be performed in various aspects related to project. The different
types of techniques such a SWOT analysis, Porter five Force model, PESTEL analysis that assist
me in assessing external environment that is related to project aims and its objective. The
appropriate research skill & team administration skills that aids assistance in handling team
member in this project.
SWOT analysis is determined as a technique which is adopted for aim of assessing whole
objective that must be achieved in timely manner.
Strength: the primal objective of manager of Marriott International is to emphasis on
providing superior experience to its user by using robotics.
They focus is on adopting Robotics in order to attract large number of customers during
particular phase of time period.
Weakness: the issue is connected t any kind of information related to targeting customer
segment. It is generated difficulty in segmentation of target market.

There are different kinds of issues that are connected to rivalries that provide similar kind
of services to its user.
Opportunities: The organisation can adopt opportunity related to providing services by
using robotics in order to attract large number of user during particular phase of time period.
Threat: due to increase in competition level, it imposes negative effect on Marriott
International during particular phase of time period (Vuopala, Hyvönen and Järvelä, 2016).
PESTEL analysis
It is determined as a tool that is adopted for assessing various external environments during
particular phase of time period. Therefore, the PESTEL analysis is adopted by management team
of Marriott hotel is given below:
Political factor Due to Brexit, it generates uncertainty that imposes direct effect on various
industries in different way during particular phase of time period. There is an uncertainty which
is arising in future period of time.
Economic factor the current GDP in UK has positioning 6th around the world. Therefore, as
per financial analyst, the rate of inflation is increase in future period of time that enforces direct
effect on sales and profit margin of company during the period of time. Due to increase in
unemployment rate, it decreases profit margin of company within hospitality sector during
particular phase of time period. The management team of Marriott International focuses on
providing services by using Robotics that helps in attracting large number of users during
particular phase of time period.
Social factor the Marriott International focuses on providing products and services by using
robotic that help in attracting large number of user towards services provided by firms it helps in
increasing sales and profit margin in future period of time.
Technological factor the use of innovative technology like Robotics in order to provide
different kind of services to its user. Thus, their main purpose is to use technology for providing
unique services its user.
Environmental factor herein, the organisation focuses on using sustainable approach in
existing technology that helps in providing environmental friendly product to its customer in
order to satisfy them.
Legal factor there are various law that must be followed by management team of Marriott
International. They focus on follow equality law in order to provide equal opportunity to its

subordinate that help in increasing motivation level of employee and they do not contain any
kind of discrimination during the period of time.
Therefore, it is assess that it is determined as a tool that is adopted for assessing various

It is determined as a model which is adopted for aim of assessing different porter's five
Force models that imposes direct effect on competition level within industry. The Porter five
force models are going to be mentioned below:
Power of buyer (moderate) the whole bargaining power of buyers in current situation is
determined as a moderate. The management team of Marriott hotel is to provide greater or
convenience by using loyalty program. The main aim of Marriott international is to provide
services according to need and want of customer. In addition to this, all these kind of facilities
are not provided easily by other hospitality sector than it has been determined that bargaining
power of user is determined as a low.
Competitive rivalry the management team of Marriott Hotel is compete with another
hospitality brands such as Hilton hotel and many more. Therefore, it is necessary for Marriott
International to bring innovative technology named as robotics in order to provide services
according to need of user.
Bargaining power of suppliers (low) the management team of Marriott International hotel
is to maintain appropriate supply chain along with supply basis. Their main purpose is to provide
unique services to its user for satisfying them.
Threat of new entrants the whole threat of entrance in context of present new technology
that increases whole brand image and reputation of Marriott International in front of customer at
Marketplace.
Threat of substitute there are different kind of competitor firm of Marriott International
that also provide similar kind of services to its customers so that it is necessary to provide
services according to need and want of customer that help in retaining them for a longer period
of time.
Thus, it is determined as a model which is adopted for aim of assessing different porter's five
Force models that imposes direct effect on competition level within industry. On the basis of
about given discussion, it is assess that the bargaining power of user is low and its competitive

rival firm is determined as high. Therefore, these elements are integrated together for Marriott
International hotel that helps in achieving competitive edge over rivalries in current market
situation (Willcocks and Lacity, 2016).
