INTRODUCTION
Learning is essential at the workplace as it is helpful for individual to grow at personal and
professional level and this form of learning is referred as the work based learning. The work
based learning is an effective technique by which people is able to gain effective experience of
working and also develop their academic and employability skills (Morley, 2018). The present
report is based on the Hilton which is a five-star hotel based in London. The hotel is well known
for their premium services of accommodation, food and beverages and other services which they
offer to their potential customers. For this report, the employment role is project manager who
has responsibility of managing the present and new projects regarding their overall development
and improvement. The report shows the reflection of skills for which skill audit and PDP is
highlighted and also show the knowledge needs of the job role of project manager.

Skill Audit
Skill audit is considered as an effective framework in terms of recognising that which
skills an individual need to possess and at what level of expertise they need. It will give me an
effective opportunity to analyse the new methods and approaches to enhance and improve the
areas in which I am weak. At the workplace, the skill audit will help me to develop the overall
skill base which will helps in enhancing my present skills in an effective and easy manner as by
this I will be able to meet my daily work and career objectives (Grollmann, 2018). It is also
beneficial for employer in terms of arranging the employee training and development session and
also by this, I will feel more involved, confident and productive at the workplace. The skill audit

In order to become the project manager at the Hilton hotel I will need certain skills and
competencies that will help me to develop my capabilities and competencies in order to get select
at the specific post. I work hard to achieve overall progress for understanding the role of project
manager the desired and expected workplace in the Hilton hotel. For the project manager,
management skills are most important and primary and to develop management skills I need to
cultivate myself towards the self-awareness so that I can observe my surroundings and also
organise and use concerning resources in an effective manner towards the better management
(Dehnbostel and Schröder, 2017). I also need to involve myself towards the meeting with other
managers to learn from my peers and I need to become the good communicator and listeners to
oriented towards the effective management of project as both are highly important.
Apart from this, to undertake the role of project manager at the Hilton hotel I also need to
grow and learn the overall knowledge regarding the hospitality sector and their market trends as
in terms of improving the current project and also develop new project within the organisation
for the deep vision of the hospitality sector. Hence, on the frequent basis I need to read and

develop my knowledge and understanding regarding the present hospitality sector. I also need to
work on my overall presentation skills for being an effective and successful project manager in
terms of presenting a new idea for the existing or new project presentation which is must (Riley,
2017). Hence, I need to take classes in order to develop my overall presentation skills and also
practice on daily basis by developing my presentation skills. Therefore, to undertake the role of
project manager I need to work really hard over my other skills including customer service
knowledge, technology skills, leadership, time management and so forth by which I can give my
best at the hotel and also became more competent among my co-workers.

manager. As a project manager my role is to handle, organise and control the present, future and
in-process projects of the company. the project manager of Hilton hotel need to review the
overall resources, supplies of the project and also look after the budget of project, proposal and
further development by looking at the process of the project growth and implementation. The
skills and overall knowledge need for the project manager role include:
Knowledge of market trends of hospitality industry: The depth and detailed knowledge of
market trends within the hospitality sector in very essential for the project manager. As by this,
the project manager will be able to understand the needs and preferences wants of the customers
through which they can plan accordingly for the new project that will become more easy and
accurate (Sofyan, 2019). The new projects are always planned to meet the overall market trends
hence, the overall knowledge of market trends of hotel sector is related with the technology, food
and entertainment is important.
Communication skills: The communication skills are always undertaken as the skill which
is required for each and every role of hotel. Hence, for the project manager of Hilton hotel,
effective written and oral communication skills are important to have suitable message which is
passing without any hindrances. This skill is also important in terms of communicating with
customers and team mates during the public speaking at the time of presenting something.
Risk management skills: For better and effective planning and implementation of new
project, risk is always a part as without bearing the risk a project cannot become successful so to
become a project manager effective risk management skills are important in Hilton hotel. This

skill will give me proper confidence and capability to handle the risk which is concerned with
projects.
Time management skills: The time undertaken as the precious element for the Hilton hotel
and wastage for effective time management that can become a huge issue for the hotel (Angbah,
2018). For the project manager, it is important to adhere to the time in terms of meeting the
deadline and also protect budge from having huge cost or for the more success, the project
manager need to manage time and arrange signs in an effective manner.

In the beginning of this report I have developed my personal development plan and skill
audit from which I have learned about my weak skills and approaches that I could implement to
improve them. Furthermore, I have also learned about how to become efficient so that I could
become Project Manager. From reflective journal and reflective log I have evaluated my progress
and learning growth along with what features I would develop in myself.

After learning suitable skills that I need to become a project manager and also analyse the
self-capabilities which I have developed for my own future plan, goals and roles. In terms of
future according to my present skills and overall development of skills that I want to consider the
future job for the senior project analyst of the desired company. in terms of undertaking or carry
forward my future towards the opted job role I am planning to work over my analytical and
research skills (Nickola and Kriek, 2017). For this job role, it is very important to have
proficiency in these skills due to the project to become successful in terms of having effective
and appropriate research. Further, the analytical skills will also help me to identify the overall
progress of project and issues during the implementation of project. Further, I also plan for the
effective development of my risk management skills it is important for my job role because as
the senior project analyst managing the risk for the project is my own duty.
CONCLUSION
Therefore, it has been analysed from the above report that the skill audit and personal
development plan showcase which is important to highlight my own key skills which is my
strength and the skills in in which I am weak and become barrier for my overall capabilities.
Further, I also learn suitable things regarding the employability skills which is important to prove
and justify the role within the company. The reflective journal and log both are effective for the
reflective writing as they are more precise and accurate in terms of understanding the learning
and overall actions of individual at the workplace.
