The concept of multiculturalism refers to the situation within the country wherein people
from different cultural and social backgrounds tend to co-exist within a certain place. The
following discussion attempts to shed light on the major weaknesses of the multicultural policy
that has been adopted within the Canadian territories.
The multiculturalism that is present within the Canadian territories is found to be existent
over a long period of time. The multiculturalism within the country is known to have been
existent since the formation of the country (Youtube.com, 2019). The people within the country
tend to have been residing alongside people belonging to other cultural backgrounds. The
country is known for the being the residence of people who belong to a huge variety of cultural
backgrounds (Semotiuk, 2017). The residents of the country however, are known to have been
facing issues regarding the co-existence of the several social and cultural backgrounds. The
major issues that are faced by the Canadian residents is the discrimination on the basis of their
race.
The residents of the country have been facing issues due to the racial discrimination that
has been taking place within the country. The countrymen face major issues in the matters that
are related to the free speeches, implementation of the public prayers and the varied practices
that are followed by the members following a certain religious or cultural habit (Statcan.gc.ca,
2019). The implementation of the multiculturalism within the country tend to ensure a high rate
of immigration within the country thereby leading to the presence of a high diversity within the
country (Malik, 2019). The Canadian immigration laws have been partial in nature. The
immigration laws have been in favor of the people who have been maintaining a high liquidity in
the financial matters and thus leads to the condition wherein the unskilled labors cannot enter the

country (Cbc.ca, 2019). This sets the stepping stone for the development of a discrimination
within the country.
Thus, from the above discussion, it might be implemented that the Canadian government
need to revise their policies of multiculturalism and thereby eradicate the discriminatory grounds
that have been present within the country.
