AI Summary
This document provides a comprehensive overview of a student's web development assignments completed over ten weeks. The assignments covered a range of topics, including setting up a virtual machine, web security principles (confidentiality, integrity, and availability), and the creation of a security strategy for a social media network. The coursework also included a literature review on risk mitigation in personal online security, practical sessions on academic writing with a focus on phrasal verbs and formal writing, and an introduction to HTML. Students created HTML5 files, uploaded them to a virtual machine, and learned about URLs, hyperlinks, image elements, and CSS. The final weeks focused on accessibility reporting and the separation of form and content. The assignments involved both theoretical understanding and practical application, providing a solid foundation in web development principles.

Week 1
We started to work on our virtual machine that we will be using it in future practical sessions and also in
which our course work will be delivered in.
Week 2
The second week was on web security were supposed to capture how it is shared and can be secured. In
doing this we are supposed to consider the confidentiality of the information, the integrity of the
information and the availability of the information and after all should produce a strategy that a future
social media network could adopt. The first task was for one of us to create a Google Doc and name it
“Webf1 Security Policy Task and share it with the partner. We listed all the different kinds of information
that you generate on a day to day basis in which we wrote “Username, Password. Banking information,
Location, Type of music you like, programs you watch, when I wake up, when I go to sleep, where I work
etc. We also classified them into 3 main categories which are secret, sensitive and public. We were also
asked what the information might be used for and for that we wrote: it might be used by businesses to
advertise similar things that I have shown an interest in, the information may be also used to send
emails to you about potential services or products etc. that you may like, also if you have an account on
an online shopping website they will look at your purchase history and then suggest specific products
that they think you might be interested in e.g. Amazon, and information about you may be used to
allocate certain privileges e.g. your unique student card maybe allow access into certain buildings, eg
the library.
Week 3
In the third week we were given a literature review that covers risk mitigation in personal online
security. In other to start we are supposed to do lots of readings and write down at least three sets of
search terms that you will use to find literature. We were supposed to go to the library and find
materials that we understand. For the literature review I included introduction, the body and
conclusion. In the body I talked about Personal information(Data) Exposure Vectors and after that talked
about the mitigation Measures.
Week 4
In the fourth week we learnt about academic writing. In this practical we were supposed to rewrite
phrasal verb sentences using a more appropriate verbs. Examples are :they have been looking into the
issue for decades. This becomes they have been investigating the issue for decades. This problem was
brought up during the lecture : This problem was raised during the lecture. In the second task we were
also asked to replace phasal verbs without cues. The third task we were made to choose appropriate
adjectives or expressions. The task 4 made choose formal words and phrases. The fifth task we
concentrated on contraction alternatives. The task 6 was avoiding personal and subjective writing. The

Week 5
In the fifth week we were introduced to html Hyper Text markup language which is used to creates
documents on the world web. In the practical session we created a Html5 file called index.html which
includes doctype, title, h1 and p tags. The title of this was our choice. After this we were supposed to
upload it to our virtual machine with a folder called “me”. We were supposed to select the “me folder
and run the web server, we ignored the IP addresses that the web server prints out. We now opened a
web browser and enter the IP address of my machine in the address bar and after doing this I saw the
page I made meaning it was a success. The third task we were supposed to create and upload my own
web page. I was supposed to create my own holloworld.html web page and include my name, my
course, my student ID and anything of my choice.
Week 6
In the six week we discussed the separation of form and content. We identified the diference between
descriptive and procedural markup and observed that descriptive markup is preferable for several
reasons, including ease of maintenance, smaller overall file sizes and increased semantic encoding,
leading eventually to more content that can be processed on our behalf by machines.
Week 7
In the seventh week we discussed URLs and hyperlinks. We discussed how to form a URL and how to use
the anchor tag to place links in HTML. We built a simple HTML5 page and added some links to it. The
first task was to create a folder and call it links and place files created in. I created a file called index.html
Week 8
In the eight week we discussed the IMG element, some CSS and others.
Week 9
On the ninth week we installed Atom from Myapps and used it to open the directory/folder with my
website files and see how the Tree View shows its content. I opened my index.html and looked at the
default syntax highlighting and opened CSS style sheet file and looked at the syntax highlighting
Week 10
On the tenth week we learnt about accessibility reporting in which we learnt there are variety of tools
for checking websites for accessibility from automated measurements tools to manual evaluation:
however accessibility is a subjective concept so human judgement is always necessary example when
checking alt tags
