Web Development Project: Website Evaluation and HTML5 Feature Analysis

This project evaluates a website focused on computer and laptop accessories. The website comprises five pages: a homepage with a header, navigation bar, welcome note, and image slider; a product page displaying product details; a portfolio page; an about us page; and a contact us page with a form. The evaluation assesses user-friendliness, navigation, design, and the functionality of back-end connected pages, including the product and contact pages. Part 2 focuses on HTML5, highlighting its features such as new tags (nav, footer, audio, and video), improved error handling, and new APIs for offline web applications, drag-and-drop functionality, location identification, web storage, and WebSocket communication. The analysis contrasts HTML5 with HTML4, emphasizing the advantages of the newer version.

Part 1
My website is of about computer and laptop accessories that are so common in the market. There
is total of five pages in my website first there is home page in which I put header on the the top
in which there is company name and navigation bar to navigate through the pages. Below the
header there is welcome note in a section. And at the end I put a image slider to make my
website interactive to watch. Then there is product page where I shows all the product that we
have, each product describe in a separate section and each section consist of product name, its
image and a brief description of that product. Then there is portfolio page is there in which in
which there is image and some description of the portfolio, than there is about us page, the
design of the about page is same as the portfolio page only the image and and content is
different. Then there is contact us page in which there is form available to contact us, user can
fill the form by giving some of its personal details and feedback of the user will recorded in our
database.
To critically evaluate my website I have to acknowledge some of the points that are given below
frist of all the website should be user friendly and user should get good experience while
exploring the site and also user should be easily navigate between the pages. As this website is
user friendly that is whenever a user come he or she can find it very convenient to explore the
site, and the navigation between the pages is also very easy and done very conveniently because
there is header in every page and navigation bar is present their. Another point is that whenever a
new user comes to the site he or she should get the feel that what is site is all about without
reading any text, in this site you will feel the same because there is image slider is present on the
home page in which their is images of computer related images. Another point to critically
evaluate my website is the design of the web pages because in market of the competition there is

lot of sites of good design but as my website is also have good design. As there is two pages that
are connected to back-end so it will be necessary that all the functionality of these two pages
should be work properly. There is product page on which the product list come from the database
like product name, image and its description so as I can see the list of product come accordingly
and also the data of the particular item has been sows properly. On the another page that is
contact page there is a contact form this should be work properly that is whenever I fill the
details in the form and press the submit button, the form should be submit and return with a
proper message as I fill the details and submit the form got submit with a success message.
Part 2
HTML stands for hypertext markup language and is used to show data on world wide web. There
are various versions of html and the latest version is HTML5. There are many tags which are
deprecated in HTML4 and thus have been removed in html5 for example fonts and centre.
Where in html5 some some new tags are developed that are nav to show the navigation block,
footer tag is also introduced to show bottom line and the most advance and helpful tag that
introduced in html5 is audio and video tag because in html4 we require adobe flash player to
play any video o my web page but this will eliminate by the introducing the video tag. Error
handling made easy with the html5 while when in html4 there is lacks rules for parsing the error
and it made difficult for the developer to debug the error and to overcome from this problem in
html5 use strict parsing and lexing rule and in that way it saves a lot of time of the developer to
pinpoint the error. As the html5 is new in the market so html5 is not yet an official standards, and
no browser has full html5 support but all major browser like safari, chrome, firefox continue to
add new html5 features to their latest versions because the new version of html comes with many

advance feature and as a developer always want to use the feature and browser has to support
that feature and this will done by all the major browser in their latest version.
HTML5 introduces a number of APIs that help to create a very advanced web application and
these APIs can be used with the new tags that are introduced by the html5, brief of some of the
APIs are given below there is an API which enables offline web application and that is very
useful that you can actually explore a website without having a active internet connection, drag
and drop which now so common is also can be done by the use of API in html5 this can be
enable in combination with the draggable attribute and as we surely know that this feature in a
web application is making much more attention of the user because it give you a easier way to
upload your file. In html4 it is being a very difficult task to get the location of the visitor visiting
the site and if the visitor is using the mobile device it will make a more difficult task for the
developer to get its location while in html5 it made very easy to identify the location of the
visitor. In html4 we use browser cache to store data on client side and the browser cache had its
own limitations in html5 this issue is resolved web SQL database and application cache that can
be access via html5's javascript interface. In html4 the communication between client and server
was done by streaming and long polling since there is no websocket available but in html5
websocket available to allow both side communications.
