Introduction:
Website design and development are the two concepts of creating a webpage of the websites.
The web design is the concept to design a web page using different design software. It is used
to implement design ideas like a logo and graphic design. On the other side, web
development is the concept to design the live website with using different languages as, Html,
CSS, JavaScript and others. In the current scenario of the assignment, working as a web
developer in a company and get a task to create a website for a travel agency for their
promotion. This website will include the information about both as the travel agent of
London and tour operator of UK.
In this assessment, create different webpages with using the Html and CSS and apply w3c
validation on each page. The first learning outcome of the report contains the server and
management technologies with the different types of DNS. It also includes the purpose of
communication in a website. The second part includes the categories of web technologies
with different tools and technologies and discusses the capabilities of front & back end
technologies. The next part includes the tools and techniques of design and the test plan & the
review of the performance included in the last part.

LO1 Explain server technologies and management services:
P1 Identify the purpose and types of DNS:
The domain name systems are used to change the domain name into the IP address or the IP
addresses that located on the internet in the naming database systems. Basically, the purpose
of the DNS is to find the IP address of the website using a computer system. The DNS works
to convert a hostname into the IP address that found on each device on the internet and this is
the basic purpose of the DNS. The types of DNS are as, TLD, ccTLD, IDN ccTLD and
gTLD. These are defined as below:
 TLD is the top-level DNS used in the structure of the DNS on the internet.
 The country code top-level domain is used to establish and find the geographical
locations as the country of the user.
 The other one is a generic top-level domain that contains the hostname
as, .com, .org, .net and others. these hostnames register by the users from anywhere in
the world.
 Internationalised country code top-level domain is used in the encoded format with a
name and allow the user to show a non-Latin character. On the other side, the top-
level domain has different levels and second and third level (Domainregistration,
2019).
A webpage is the collection of different servers as four types of server are required to create a
webpage as:
 DNS recursor: it used to resolve the user’s queries by using some safety on web
browsers and check the design queries of the web browsers.
 Root nameserver is used to translate the hostname into the IP address of the library on
a specific location.
 TLD nameserver is used to search an IP in a hostname and services.
 Authoritative nameserver: translate the name server into the definition and request to
record the name servers (Cloudflare, 2019).
the DNS is used to manage with using the ARPANET that is a computer network and used to
find the resources for it. on the other side, the domain name also manages by the ICANN that
is a domain name registers on the localhost.

M1 Evaluate the impact of common web development technologies:
Various web development technologies are available that used to design the website, their
functions and management. this framework support to the application development and helps
to design the architecture and supported features. Here is some framework as, Angular,
Django, Laravel, Ruby on Rails and others. each of the web technology has its unique
development solution with implementing different functionality and management.

P2 Explain the purpose and relationships between:
The communication protocol is a group of some rules that used to define communication with
each other and used different ways to communicate with each other. It has different protocols,
SMTP, Http, FTP, TCP with IP. Each of the communication protocol has different purpose s
TCP is for the transaction purpose and HTTP helps to create the hyperlinks between the
nodes that used contain the text. The communication protocol plays a role in the development
and designing of the travel website and creates communication between the different source
of the website (Coen, 2017).
Server hardware is a part of the networking area that used to create manage the service of the
website and control as an administrative network monitor. That server hardware mainly has
three types that used to manage the server of the website as per the requirements.
 A tower server is the desktop PC that contains a cabinet like the desktop computer and
controls the scalability and expansion part of the website. It reduces the time to
implement the website as well.
 The next one is the Rack servers those are the combination of the different number of
servers and used to minimise the client requirements. it is also called a rack-mounted
server as the framework of this server installed in a rack.
 A blade server is quite similar to the rack server in design term as different EC boards
are used this server to include the memory and process with the different ports to manage
a website (Posey, 2011).
The operating system is a program that used to control and organize the system hardware as
well as the software. The operating system directly communicates to any kind of issues with
the admin or server. Website design is depending on the type of operating systems as
software runs according to the capacity of the operating system and helps to create the design
of the web pages.
Web server software is used to deliver the web pages to the clients using the remote browsing
and client-server model. So many web server software is used to design and manage the web
pages as Apache, Apache Tomcat and others. the database server is also used with the
website server software as, SQL, Microsoft SQL server and My SQL. File and print server
are also the part of the webserver that used in the connectivity with the network (Melendez,
2019).

M2 Review the influence of search engines on website performance:
Search engine optimization is a technique used to improve the search ranking of the website
and it helps to enhance the business. It understands the need for customers and provides a
chance to fulfil customer requirements. check the index value of the current website with
using some factors as, purchase, awareness and consideration. The use of keywords on the
website makes it more attractive and useful for the customers. meta description tags and links
are the two factors that used to increase the flexibility of the website (Business, 2018).

LO2 Categories website tools and software with technologies used to
develop websites:
P3 Discuss the relationships & capabilities between front-end and back-end:
Front end and back end are the types of website development technologies that divided into
these categories along with the full stack.
The front end is the visible content or part of the website as a user can see on application and
browser. The looks of the website depending on the front-end developer. The example of the
front-end technologies is like, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Html is used to design the
structure of the webpage on the web browser and CSS is used to fill colours and make a web
page attractive and well arrange features. After creating the webpage, put functionalities in
this page with using the JavaScript as the animation and other.
Back end technologies refer to the server-side technologies as those things which not appears
to the users like, database, communication process and other. The back-end functionalities
directly not interact with the users and the common back end technologies are like PHP,
Python and Ruby. The back-end technologies are used to increase the speed of the website
along with the responsiveness of the web page (Stewart, 2019).
 The presentation, application and database layer are related to the front end and back
end technologies. The presentation layer is also called as the front-end layer as it
relates to the user interface and the graphical web browser facility of the web
application. Html, CSS and JavaScript are the examples of this presentation layer.
 The application layer is the functional layer that works as the back-end technologies
like, Php, Java, Python.
 The database layer supports the database functionalities as, Oracle, My SQL,
Microsoft SQL server and others to access the database of the website.

P4 Discuss the differences between:
There are so many ways to build a website and web pages. The two major ways are, use
online website creation tools and custom build website or manually. Different tools are
available to create the website like WordPress, Drupal and Joomla to create an online website
with using tools or templates. Here is some difference between online website creation tools
and custom-built sites.
Create a website using online tools like WordPress or apply a template with elegant themes is
a quick way to create a website with complete responsiveness. Some other tools like, Wix
and Squarespace are also used to create an online website in few minutes to fulfil the user
requirements. The pros and cons of the template to create a website are as:
 The template-built sites are less expensive compared to the custom-built sites
 The use of template provides faster implementation compare to the custom-built
website
 It is easy to modify the templates in less time compare to the custom-built website
with good design and robust
 In the cons of using the templates are like, the websites look so common or like
other’s website with using the template
 The template or online website creation tool provides limited access to edit the
graphic design with the navigation functionality
 The security concern occurs in the template websites as well as all functionalities may
not work (primedesignsolutions, 2014)
The custom-built website involves a complete team to create it with database expert,
designer, developer, graphic designer and others. This output is more creative compared to
using the templates and provide more functionalities to the users. here are some pros and cons
of the custom-built website as:
 These designs create for the branding purpose or to increase the productivity of the
organization and include all the requirements of users as well as the organization
 This website is easy to use on all kinds of web browsers with complete flexibility
 Easy to get search engine functionality on these sites
 Customization is easy with unlimited times
 Easy to update the content of the website and more flexible compared to the template
sites

 In the cons, it takes time to create compare to the template site
 It is costly and needs continuous support with regular security updates (Bozzi, 2015)
M3 Evaluate a range of tools:
As discussed, the pros and cons of both templates based and custom based website in the
above section. The custom websites used to create with using different language and tools
like Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Panic Coda, Photoshop, Firefox developer (Craig, 2019).

LO3 Utilise website technologies:

Find the client and user requirement before creating a website and implement them on the
website. The major client & user requirements for a website are like:
 Find the idea and vision to implement in the website to achieve the goal
 Fill complete colour scheme in the web pages to make it attractive
 Use unique content on the website with clearly understandable
 Use related images with complete use of graphics and text content
 Implement the organization name or logo on the top of each page of the website
 Easy to access by the users
 Flexible to user and security implementation
