incident, situation or hazard that might require immediate attention

The Assessment Process
Why are assessment tasks important?
To complete your qualification, you are required to apply the ideas you have been learning from this
unit of competence.
The assessment activities are an important part of your training program as they provide an
opportunity to apply what you have been learning and they give both you and your trainer feedback
on your progress.
How will you be assessed?
You will be required to complete a variety of written and practical exercises. Instructions for how to
complete the assessments are provided within each assessment task in this booklet.
What is required for successful completion?
Please read this section carefully before commencing the assessment tasks. You must carefully
complete EVERY task in this booklet. You must achieve a ‘Satisfactory’ mark for all assessment tasks
to be deemed Competent for the unit. If you are assessed as Not Competent, you will be given some
suggestions for improvement and asked to redo your assessment.
At the successful completion of the assessment tasks, you will have demonstrated your competence
against all of the requirements of the unit.
Submission of assessments
Your trainer will advise you when to commence the assessments in this booklet.
You are required to complete the written assessments on a separate document. You have access to
computers which are equipped with 2010 Microsoft suite of products. You will also have access to
the internet at the College to assist with research and resources. Assessment responses should be
typed; however, handwritten submissions will be accepted if they are clear and legible.
On the document please include:
o Your name
o The date
o The Assessment Number and Task Number.
For example:
o John Smith
o 10 August 2015
o Assessment 1 - Question 1 (Record your answer).
Please note that some assessments require additional documentation, such as a form or a
procedure, which must be included with your submission.
Make sure you check your material before submission. You must keep a copy of all work submitted.

Access and equity
A student’s access to the assessment process should not be affected by restrictions placed on the
location or context of assessment beyond the requirements specified in the training package.
Reasonable adjustments can be made to ensure equity in assessment for people with disabilities,
including language and literacy. Adjustments include any changes to the assessment process or
context that meet the individual needs of the person with a disability, but do not change
competency outcomes. If you believe you have a disability that may affect the completion of these
assessment tasks please speak to your trainer.
Assessment outcomes
Your assessment submission will be assessed and you will be given feedback. Each assessment task
will be marked as either Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory and once all assessments have been marked
you will be given an outcome of Competent or Not Competent for the unit of competence.
What can you do if you don’t agree with the assessment result?
If you do not think the assessment process is valid, disagree with the assessment outcome, or
believe that you have been treated unfairly, you can appeal.
The first step is to discuss the matter with your trainer. If you still do not agree, you are able to
request a re-assessment. It is possible to have your assessment submission assessed by a different
assessor.
If you remain dissatisfied after the re-assessment, you should contact your trainer. Full details of the
appeals process are contained in your Student Handbook.
Declaration of Authenticity
You are required to sign a Declaration of Authenticity for every written assessment submission. The
Declaration is a signed statement from you stating that the assessment submission is your own
work.

Task 1
Web Authoring Tools
A web authoring tool is the software used to create, design,
present and maintain webpages. Web authoring tools are based
on some version of HTML and often use Java to enhance the
look and feel of a webpage.
There are different web authoring tools such as HTML- Kit, Komodo Edit, First Page and
KompoZer.
Activity 1 – Web Authoring Tools
Research the following web authoring tools and write a description for each of them.
HTML-Kit
It is although a free software but it requires extra cost for additional features. It is
a HTML editor which supports editing, formatting, validation and publishing. It
has an in-built preview that includes external, internal, live preview modes. It has
a FTP workspace for downloading, online editing and uploading files. This has
color themes and full screen mode feature. This also has various plugins, find and
replace options, code wizards and shortcuts to save time.
Komodo Edit
It is although a free software but it requires extra cost for additional features. It is a

First Page
This editor allows to create web documents and ability to control the code. It
supports PHP, HTML, ASP, XHTML CSS, Perl, Cold Fusion. It is product by EVRSOFT.
This provides features like formatting, HTML editing, templates, syntax highlighting,
DOM tree browser, Partial support for WYSIWYG and different wizards.
KompoZer
It is a HTML editor which uses Mozilla Composer codebase. It is an open source
software. It supports direct code editing and also split code-graphic view. This allow
to use WYSIWYG tool. It is suitable to develop and manage a website. It has an
integrated file management system. It supports tables, templates and forms. It allows
to see the live changes in CSS. Markup cleaner ensure that markup is clean.
HTML
HTML is a markup language for describing web pages. HTML
stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. A markup language is a
set of markup tags. HTML documents are described by HTML tags.
Each HTML tag describes different document content.

the name HTML Basics I Codecademy. The first lesson will automatically appear. Please
complete the first 3 lessons. Take a screenshot of your work before you save and submit
each lesson and save the screenshot in your student portfolio (H: Drive).
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
The File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer files between computers on a network. You
can use FTP to exchange files between computer accounts, transfer files between an
account and a desktop computer or access online software archives.

Activity 3 – FTP Clients
Research on Google for the FTP Clients provided below and give a short description for
each one of them.
WinSCP
It is open source tool. Its source code is available for free. This is
responsible for secure file transferring between the systems that are
connected remotely. It also has a file manager and functionality for file
synchronization. It supports SSH (secure shell) and SCP. It provides
GUI, multi-language support, integrated text editor, Batch-file scripting,
SSH password support, upload files, integration with Pageant etc. I can
also work as a remote editor. Kit has three portable versions which
have different features.
Transmit
It is a client program to transfer files for MacOS. It is a shareware. Features
of this includes .Mac Support, droplets, spotlight, support for Amazon S3

FireFTP
It is a cross platform Free and open source software. It provides support
for FTPS, FTP, and SFTP. It runs on the platform supported by Firefox. It
supports listing of caching directories, comparison of local and remote
directory tree.
FileZilla
It is a free FTP solution. It supports FTP as well as FTPS (FTP over TLS). It is
a free FTP client software. FileZilla Pro provides additional supports for
drop box, Google drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Google cloud storage etc.
Features of FileZilla client includes support for IPv6, bookmarks, Directory
comparison, Network configuration wizards, drag and drop feature,
tabbed user interface etc.
CyberDuck
It is also an open source FTP client. It is written in C# and JAVA. It offers
support for Secured FTP over SSL/TLS. It has also provided CLI in Linux,
Windows and macOS.
Which FTP Client would you use and why?
The recommended FTP client is CyberDuck as it is very simple. This supports most
commonly used operating systems such as Linux, Windows and Mac. Also this is free and
open source. It offers support for FTP, SFTP, WebDAV also provide easy connection to
google Drive, Amazon S3, google cloud storage, Dropbox etc. It is also able to integrate with
other text editors. It offers high level of security by using the Cryptomator feature. This
smudges the structure of the directory and encrypts the name of files and directories.

Kiaran is working on a project for his computer science course. The Trainer has allocated a
fixed amount of computer time for this project. Kiaran has run out of time, but has not yet
finished the project. The trainer cannot be reached.
Last year, Kiaran worked as a student programmer for the campus computer centre and is
quite familiar with the procedures to increase time allocation to accounts.
Using what he learnt last year, he is able to access the master account. Then, he gives
himself additional time and finishes his project.
Question:
Which values of the ACS Code of Ethics did Kiaran violate?
There are 6 code of ethics according to the ACS. Which are primacy of public interest, enhancement of
quality of life, honesty, Competence, professional development, and Professionalism.
According to the scenario Kiaran violated the third code of ethics which is honesty. As code of ethics stats
that employee should be honest in work, representation of skill, services, products and knowledge. Kiaran
used his skills in wrong way to increase the time amount which is against the code of ethics.
WHS Requirements Relevant to ICT
Industry
ICT industry and organisation/workplace requirements for monitoring and
reporting in relation to WHS are similar to any other business. The only
difference is that in the ICT industry, the WHS requirements are mostly
focused on ergonomics such as posture, electrical safety, seating,
lighting and ventilation.
Activity 5 – WHS requirements
Research on the web and provide a list of Workplace Health and Safety requirements
relevant to the information and communication technology industry.
Safe Work Practice Procedure
e.g. Electrical Safety Power cords should be properly placed, checked and maintained in good
conditions.
lighting Lighting system should consider the type of work; it should be able to create a lit
work environment; natural light should be there; emergency light solution
should be available; should provide a safe environment
seating Feet should be able to firmly place on the ground or rest while sitting; backrest
of the chair should provide a support to the lower back; thighs should be parallel
to the floor; make sur that the chair height is adjustable.
ventilation There should be proper space to pass the air; use equipment such as ventilation
fans, brattices and air doors
posture Back should be in straight position; monitor should be keep an arm length away;
elbows should be bent at 90-degree angle; while typing, wrists should not be
bent and feet should touch the ground or footrest properly.

Technology has increased energy and resource conservation. How does ICT help the

These platforms help you to create a website in an
