INTRODUCTION
The report deals with designing a website for enterprise and small business. It also
provide literature review on the web design which comprises of defining the topic with the view
of other authors. The report further deals with project phases that will followed in step by step
process by the students. It also comprises of the actions that are taken. and it also emphasis on
the action that are not being taken along with it highlights the learning outcome of the entire
process.
TASK2
1. Context/Background
Under this report the students are designing a website for enterprise and small businesses.
In order to develop website, they are required to possess certain level of skills and knowledge in
certain areas. Along with it they have developed a portfolio with the use of range of
methodologies and activities. By doing so they have understood the importance of planning and
preparation before engaging into simulation exercises.
2. Literature Review (models and theories)
According to Lee&Kozar (2012) In the recent time the interaction between business and
consumers mostly occur on online platform and it is important to design website in order to
create greater engagement with customers. In the modern time where consumer both lack time
and money through designing a web site the businesses will be able to attract them on a large
extent along with it they will be able to provide an ease to them as they can save the time and can
by product and services through social platform. Websites have gained significant success in the
market because of online marketing efforts which comprises of putting the right tactics and
constantly updating with the right elements. Website design provide a business with their online
identity. It helps in targeting audience and it crate an image of business in their mind set which
further helps the business in turning their potential buyers into customers. By developing a
design that have impressive user interface will help the business to increase their sales and thus

Web designing comprises of arranging elements in a manner to complies a particular
purpose (The Importance of Good Web Design Why It Matters, and How To Pull It Off 2018).

Web designing is the process which involves web development which focuses on development
of website that further focus on different aesthetic factors such as layout, user interface and other
visual imaginary. These factors are taken in account in order to make the website more appealing
and to provide ease in use. Web designing make use of various types of programme and tools
such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop and others. In order to create a web design that designers are
obligated to consider the type of audience that they want to attract and also they needs to keep in
mind the purposes and visual appeal of their design. As the visual appeal of the web design will
be responsible to attract customer and if it is not visually attractive then the customer may not
want to visit the same.
There are range of theories and models that needs to kept in mind while designing
website that can be pointed below-
The Gestalt Principle- It comprises of thinking about the overall design on initial stage
and then focussing on smaller details. The Gestalt principal model emphasis that the structural
shape of web design is responsible determining its success and visual appeal. This principle is
viewed as an important principle in the web designing process as it involves setting the
foundation for designers that how they intend to communicate a particular website with their
target audience.
Color theory- This theory helps designers to differentiate their website in comparison
with other designer by using different colour schemes. Along with it also helps the designers to
leverage the effect colour on users. By choosing the right colour among the available options can
certainly make a difference it can help the business in selling more number of their products
(Loudon and et. al., 2015).
3. Project Phases
The process of Web designing is complex and comprises of certain stages. Great web
designing comprises of creating a website that aligns with the business strategy. If a website is
well designed it will help the business to attract a large number of visitors and will also assist
audience in understanding the company’s products. Designing a good website involves taking
every step in the process with care and directing every action towards a defined goal. The web
designing process involve certain steps that can be pointed below-
Gaol identification- It comprises of identification of goals for which the websites are
being designed. The businesses can design websites for various purposes such as attracting more

customers, increasing brand awareness, providing ease to customer and brand recognition. All of
the gaols are commonly directed towards increasing the sales of the business by ingratiating
larger number of customers.
Scope identification- After identifying the goal of the site the next step involves defining
the scope of the project which involves identification of what pages and features the site is going
to require to fulfil to set goals. It also comprises of finding out about the timeline for building the
same.
Site mapping and wire framing- After defining the scope the web designers are
supposed to dig into sitemap and they will also focus on interrelating the content and features
with the scope .Sitemap helps designers and provide them a clear idea about the website
information architecture along with it explains the relationships between pages and content
elements. Whereas Wireframe will help in storing site's visual design and content elements and it
also helps in identification of potential issues and gaps comprising in sitemap (The quickest way
to brainstorm user interface ideas 2019). Different tolls involved in this are sketch, slick-plan
and axure.
Creating content- After having a bigger picture of the site in mind the next step involves
creating content for the pages. The essential element that needs to be kept in mind while
designing a website is engine optimisation which helps in keeping the pages directed towards a
single topic. It focusses on creating engagement and action of the readers which help in
fulfilment of site's goal.
Visual branding- After the site architecture is done and some content is also developed
then comes the step which comprises of visual brand. It involves designing the visual style of the
web site from the ground up. For this different tools are being used such as style tiles, element
collages and mood boards which will help in the process.
Testing- After all the pages are well defined along with the display the designer needs to
ensure that they work properly together. It involves combining manual browsing of the site on
different types of devices along with automated site crawlers in order to identify issues that can
exists in different areas such as user experience to simple broken links.
Launch- After testing and ensuring that everything works properly it is time to execute
the site launch. It involves planning and communicating the time and different strategies

associated with site launch for example when to launch, how to let the customers know about it
etc (Hasan, B., 2016).
4. Skills Developed
I have developed certain set of skills while designing a website which involves
communication skills, designing skills, project management skills and computer skills. These
skills can be further analysed below-
Time management skills- By developing a website I have developed time management
skills as the process comprised of undertaking certain steps such as setting long term plan and
short term plan, making to do list, breaking the difficult task into smaller pieces and scheduling
different activating of group in such manner that every activity can be finished in time the given
time limit. Time management is important as it helps me to perform certain activities in proper
time and also eliminate the chance of delays in the activities (Ferrara and et. al., 2014).
Photoshopping skills- As web site designing comprises of working with images I order
to enhance the visual effect of the site . It helped me to develop basic knowledge about
Photoshop which involves resizing or cropping image, customizing colours and applying effects
such as transparency. As it helps in making the website more appealing in visual terms and help
in setting the image as per the need of websites.
Designing skills- In the process of designing a website I have developed skills such as
graphic design. Group members tent to use different graphic tools in order to develop web design
in a better and more appealing way. This helped me to enhance my designing skills by assisting
and participating in the designing process.
Learning skills- By designing a site I have learned about various things such as new
trends, customer preferences and it also improves my passion for designing. Designing activities
comprises of creativity which is an ongoing learning process. For designing a site I have
analysed the gaols of the business and then enabled a number of activities such as designing the
content, testing and launching which is I have done with other group members. The entire
process is an learning process which helped me to use a number of tools such as Photoshop.
Writing skills- In the process of web site designing the content creating element is of
great concern as it is responsible for engaging more number of customers. As the content that
will be used in the site needs to directed towards business gaols. In the content creating process I

have developed writing skill as the site contains only valuable information then needs to
developed carefully as it will be displayed on the site.
Computer skills- The computer skills tent to get enhanced in the entire process as the
entire process is being developed on computer with the use of different computer tools. It helped
me in extending the basic computer knowledge. As the process include certain application that
can be used with the help of a computer such as Photoshop in order to design the colour and
effects by using such application it helped me in developing my computer skills.
Team working- The process involve certain elements such as designing content, using
effects, site mapping and wire framing. They need to divide into individuals as a single person
cannot do all the activities altogether along with task needs to be coordinated in such a manner
that they are directed towards achievement of common goals. Which have helped me to develop
the skill of working together in a group (Sheng and et. al., 2014).
Project management skills- It involves keeping project in time and on the right track in
order to succeed. While managing this, the management skills of the team members will be
enhanced. By managing this task in a group effort I have learned how to manage a project and
how to finish one in proper timing.
5. Your actions taken/not taken
While designing web site in a group I have taken certain action such as adopting
appropriate code of conduct and communicating with different members of the group and
coordinating activities with them so that entire efforts can be directed towards achieving
common goals along with it ethics have been followed by me in order to work in an ethical
manner. Following the step by step process of designing the web site have been taken without
ignoring a single step so that the web design can be developed in an efficient and effective
manner. I have coordinated with my group in an effective manner at different levels of web
designing and have respected the opinion of different members of the group along with giving
my suggestions. I have completed the task assigned to me in proper timing so that entire group
does not have to suffer.
I have not created unnecessary conflict between the group and have communicated in an
efficient manner with other group members. I have not taken any task without informing the
group member and have not added any things in the required task without discussing them with
other group members. I have not opposed the decision of group and have shown my full support

to the same along with it I have performed in an ethical manner and have not done anything that
can mislead your project future direction. I have not completed any task without proper research
and analysis and have been true with the quality of my work.
6. Project Learning
I have learned a lot of things under the project such as working with team and
coordinating different activities in an effective manner. This have helped to develop certain skill
sets such as communication skills, management skills and team working skills. Web site
designing is a complex activity which comprises of range of activates such as Photo shopping,
coding etc. in order to perform such activates members needs to break the different task among
them self and effectively communicate with each other. It have helped me to learn how to work
in a team and how to coordinate and manage different task within a team. It has also enlightened
me about the importance of web site for businesses as the world is changing and in order to cope
with the latest trends businesses needs to cope with these trends for engagement of higher
number of customers.
This project have also helped me in development of different skill set such as designing
skills, computer skills and writing skills. By conducting the step involved in web designing
process it has helped me to develop certain skills such as in designing the web I have learned
about choosing design colour and effects that will suit the site and will also be able to attract
more customers. Along with it my business skills have also been developed as the I have
researched about the content that will be supporting site design and have gained knowledge
about what attracts customers and what can be further used in order to increase their attraction
level.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report that web designing is a complex process which
comprises of different elements that needs to be taken in a systematic manner. The process also
helps in development of certain skills sets among the individuals such as time management,
designing skills and Photo shopping skills. It also explains certain learning outcomes that an
individual learns in the entire process.
