INTRODUCTION
Imagining a life without technology is like going backwards in time when there were no
facilities for sustaining life. Modern day lifestyle is becoming majorly dependent on internet and
web based applications. This report is based on the purpose of delivering basic knowledge that is
required for creating and implementing a website design. This platform has emerged as the
largest platform for earning money without investing much money. In this assessment various
concepts related to the subject will be discussed and certain testing of designed interactive
platform for Shiny Kitchen Worktops Ltd. shall be provided for better understanding of
functioning websites.
TASK 1
1.1 Design concepts of a website
Internet based portal or website is an implementation of ideas and thoughts of an
individual into digital technology. Before designing a website there are certain concepts which
need to be understood (Berenson and et. al., 2012). These are described as follows:
Users:
The most significant component of a website is its users. These are the people who are
going to handle and operate proposed website of Shiny Kitchen Worktop Ltd. The different types

2.1 Designing a website

portals. To upgrade traditional shopping experiences of customers, this platform has been
created. It contains an online order form, different pages for all three types of materials,
catalogue, testimonies of old customers and specifications for the services and products provided
by the company. There are certain tools which are used by designers in this process of designing
the website (Coronel and Morris, 2016). The most important component of this process is
recognition of client and user needs which includes security and authenticity.
Ideology of concept design like mood boards and story boards help in inculcating images
and animations in the website. Moreover, an smooth layout can be produced using interactive
templates and user friendly designs. It helps in increasing usability and accessibility of designed

2.2 Evaluation of designed website
The procedure of examining and evaluating website design is sequential and includes
key observation. This step is importantly performed before actual implementation because any
sort of flaws or defects that occur in the designing process are necessary to be identified
(Shneiderman, 2010). Designed website for Shiny Kitchen Worktop Ltd. is being evaluated
using different terms. Considering the layout or generalised design of this website, it involves
usage of cool colour scheme with bright combinations. This automatically soothes visual senses

effectively applied to different parts.

3.1 Implementing the design
Interactive websites are the ones that involve smooth communications with live
conversations between user and client as a sender and receiver. These are also referred as
dynamic websites because 24*7 interaction of the company with their customers is enabled
through this platform. The design or blue print which has been prepared using specific tools and
techniques need to be implemented accordingly in a sequential process for better outcomes.
Structure:
Presentation of a website is the most important component to develop healthy interaction.
Design layout that is prepared needs to be implemented in a strategic structure. It involves
planning of pages in a specific order which creates a well managed image in eyes of users.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a language that helps in improving presentation of the website
by inculcating styles and information in an appropriate manner (Mokhtarzada and et. al., 2013).

Structural implementation also includes frames, headings, buttons, boxes, lists and other

client side and server side for transmission of information from user end to client end. Depending
on their usage these are used as client-side and server-side scripting languages. The content also
includes certain documentations and digital agreements which are to be communicated using
web authoring software tools. Every bit of data that is going to be delivered on the website must
be valid and reliable. It should not misguide users in any respect (Johnson, 2013).
Tools and techniques:

company is adaptive in different browsers. Sequential testing of operability at different browsing
platforms was performed on the website (Shneiderman, 2010). The website was functioning and

designers has prepared this website with compatibility for different browsers.
However, functionality testing is also performed for enhancing the quality of prepared
website. Following dimensional aspects are covered in this testing (Functionality Testing, 2017):
1. Navigation: The testing of menus and lists which are created as a navigation aid is
performed for checking the limitations which can hinder usability profile of the website.
2. Layouts: Different elements and images that are involved in the website are considered in
layout testing. Their position, alignment and attributes must not change in any scenario
unless there is network disturbance experienced at user side.
3. Pages: For Shiny Kitchen company, there are various pages depicting the type of product
and service, contact us page, about us page, etc. The display of content is appropriately
positioned or not is checked in page checking. Moreover, overall pages that have been
developed must be visible according to the design (Swierenga and et. al., 2011).

types and valid submissions is checked and evaluated.

2011).
