Usability Test Report: Analysis of a Bakery Website's Features

Usability Test
1. Goal of the site:
The key goal of this website is to advertise and make sales of bakery products. The
website achieves this goal by allowing visitors to subscribe for weekly newsletters,
where they receive news about their products of interest. The website displays the
information of the company including the contact info, where customers can make
their requests.

4. Test tasks and schedule
I. On opening the website, the first page to appear is the homepage.
II. Either the user can go to about us page, our menu page, specials page or contact
page.
III. Click on the big signup button on the right to sign up for the weekly newsletters.
IV. On signup page, enter all the details that is names, email, select product of interest
from the given list, select the date of birth from the calendar and check the
approval checkbox.

V. On clicking the submit button, the user gets a message showing the details that
will be added to the mailing list. For this process to be successful, the user should
fill all the fields and check the approval checkbox. Otherwise, the website will
give an appropriate feedback instructing the user.
VI. Click on “about us” on the navigation bar. The user can learn more about the
company from this page. From this page, you can subscribe to the weekly
newsletters also.
VII. Click on “our menu” on the navigation bar to view all our products and their
prices.
VIII. Click the image on each product to learn more about that particular product.
IX. Click on the “specials” on the navigation bar to view all the special products and
the offers.
X. Click on the “contact us” on the navigation menu to go to contact us page. Here
you can see the contact details and you can send us an email. Also from this page,
you can subscribe for the weekly newsletters.
XI. Scroll down in each page to view the contact details, the special products and the
navigation links.

5. Post-test debrief:
I. How is the process of inputting the details when signing up for the weekly

6. Usability Scale
 Learnability:
It is very easy for new users to accomplish basic tasks in this website since the
website design is user friendly.
 Efficiency:
Once the users have learned how to website works, they can perform tasks very
quickly.
 Memorability:
When users return after sometime, it is easy for them to re-establish proficiency
because the step for performing tasks are very easy to remember.
 Errors:
Two, inputting an invalid email address and not checking the approval checkbox.
These errors are severe since the website will not allow any invalid input. However, it
is very easy to recover from these errors. The user needs to follow the instructions
well to avoid these errors.
 Satisfaction:
It is very pleasant to use this design since it is user friendly and easy to use.
Further development suggestions

Given more time, I would suggest to make this website dynamic using PHP. With back-end
integration, it would be easier for the company to manage the content of this website.
